So....the Bombers have taken a Leak?
-
Peterson ought to be urine-tested weekly, but the Bomber defence is quite unsettled at the moment. If O'Shea has Hall on a very short leash, and the incoming talent is as good as it seems to be, we will be all right.
-
Tyler Stewart sounds like a throw-in for training camp just to have enough arms to go around. Seems to be a typical NFL prospect QB but without any great strengths.
-
They hate it because of the volatility and unpredictably- often they cannot tell who is doing what to whom and even who will launch themselves at the officers.
-
My family is riddled with both RCMP and city police, and all hate going to domestic disturbance calls.
-
We have been raised to respect police and believe that they are above approach, but psych profiles of bikers and cops are scarily similar. https://www.alternet.org/profiled-stalked-and-murdered-footage-shows-cops-gunning-down-unarmed-black-man-california-walmart

Any cop will tell you that people who are gakked and violent are literally as rare as hen's teeth. Conversely, if cops are called to a "domestic disturbance" and the occupants are drinking, they can be certain that its gonna get ugly. Stoners just want to be left alone , eat Cheetos and stare at their hands in amzaement.

Sounds like a Wagnerian opera role.

Re: Cierre Woods- Strengths: Wood has a good frame and possesses thick legs. Quick and shifty runner. Reaches maximum acceleration quickly. Willing to run up the middle and shows a burst. Good feet and makes controlled, fluid movements when moving laterally. Showcases good vision. Weaknesses: Doesn't play with as much power as his frame would indicate. Unrefined as a blocker, showcases poor technique. Has had trouble holding down the starting running back job at Notre Dame. Ball security a question. Suspended for violation of team rules. Bottom Line:Wood has plus size, but doesn't play like a bigger back. He has good vision, acceleration, and plays very fluidly. Post season workouts will be important for him, but he will likely be selected within the middle rounds.

You omitted two defining southern Alberta characteristics: porn shops and religiosity (like your Cowboy churches where everyone has to dress and talk like cowpersons).
-
Wood is a bit of an oddball running back. He seems to be fast more than quick, although did not show breakaway speed. More shifty than a power runner and a sort of blend of all running back assets but not outstanding in any area. In the film clip, he didn't seem to break many tackles.

If its any comfort, the winter here hasn't been ideal either and spring is about 3 weeks late. Did you know that in Calgary, there is only one month in which there has never been snow? Its July.
-
You have our sympathies about the Calgary part.

I find it interesting that the two most heavily-recruited areas this off-season were areas that were identified in this forum as Achilles' heels for the Bombers. None of the new signing may be worth beans but at least the positions will be contested. And the last open, weeping sore for the Bombers was MLB, and we seem to have some good candidates for that position. Training camp ought to be interesting, as usual.

We may never know. The "stand your ground" legal precedent in the US means that if you "feel threatened", even if there is no tangible or imminent threat, you can react with deadly force, as per Zimmerman.
-
Another stupid, tragic waste of life over what was probably a trivial issue.
-
I counted 9 cops. I wonder if the original charge was "walking while black". Detaining a black/latino/asian on a pretext and then charging them with resisting arrest is a very common practice down in the USofA. If they happen to find any contraband, that is a bonus.
-
Ah. So he may well be well enough to attend training camp if he heals quickly.
-
No question that he seems to have the athletics, and from the article, he sounds at least average in smarts. The article does raise a couple of points for me, though. One: he is going to have a real culture change to adjust to here without having to be afraid to go out after dark, and two: he is described as having a messed-up knee. He may not pass the physical or last the season, no matter how talented he is.
-
Hmmm....Straughan sounded promising. Oh well, onward.
-
Are you sure that you didn't mean "stupid" instead of "stability"?
-
When I went back to the scouting report, it had him at 6'5" 280 and 6''0" 232 as well. The 6'0" sounds more real. http://draftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=120037&draftyear=2016&genpos=OLB
-
The scouting report had him at 6'5" 280 but he doesn't look that heavy in the film clip he put together himself. He doesn't seem to do "polite" tackles but tackles to hurt- appropriate for an ex-marine I suppose. Looks to be quick and fast with a nose for the ball.

So far we don't seem to have signed a "holy-crap-can't-miss" player. In the past I have been guilty of really becoming emotionally invested in one or two newcomers and far more often than not, have had my hopes shattered. Oh well, maybe s darkhorse player will emerge in training camp (not so far away any more) and wow everybody.

To the surprise of nearly no one.
