  1. Stumbling into the playoffs is almost as bad as not making it at all. Last year, the Bombers went into the playoff on a roll and nearly beat BC. This year, no matter why, the team is on the skids. If they play this poorly during a home playoff game, manure might be imported from Regina the next day to be presented to Walters.
  2. Now, that's hitting below the belt.
  3. And possibly depth at RB. linebacking and NI content. Outside of that, we're golden.
  4. Are you insinuating that there are problems in the Bombers organization?
  5. Confusion on whose part? O'Shea's? Hall's? Walters'?
  6. True. Sad, but true, dammit.
  7. We would have to include the Lions who caught Lefevour's passes. Special teams were the only reason the Bombers didn't completely resemble the Alouettes.
  8. No matter what, unless evidence emerges about Hall and livestock in inappropriate relationships, Hall will be here to the end of the season and for some time afterwards.
  9. It probably comes down to slim chance vs no freaking chance at all. Take your pick. Look at how long some of the previous assistant coaches (and players) hung around when it was painfully obvious they were incompetent.
  10. I can't believe how both Davis and Lefevour both looked that horrible. Couldn't the coaches foresee how bad they are and bring in someone new?
  11. As much as I would want Hall's head on a post outside IGF field, it's not going to happen. With a terrible DC, we're probably going to lose in the first playoff game. Without a settled defensive playbook, we're almost certainly screwed. Hall might even be back next year- weird stuff happens. Look at Reed returning as GM in Montreal.
  12. So is the Bomber effort today- again.
  13. Been there, done that.
  14. Should the Bombers blow this one, it's all downhill from there. How many teams have gone into playoffs on a losing note and then suddenly got it together to go on and do well? There are rare examples, but not many.
  15. Bombers 26, Lions 18. Shouldn't be all that close, but with Hall's bend-then-break defence, who knows?
  16. Let him have his R&R- we need him back for the playoffs.
  17. The Irving and McCain families in the Maritimes have more more than God and there is a federal election coming up in a couple of years, so maybe the stars will align. I'm not going to bet the farm on it, though.
  18. Panic stations, no, but concern will definitely be warranted. Going into the playoffs after a series of bad games is not good for confidence.
  19. I think what "house money" means is that no matter what happens this season, the Rider faithful will applaud like trained seals and Jones will return next year to bring all those special qualities that we have all grown to love back to the Riders and CFL.
  20. Judging from the defensive results, O'Shea is a hands-off head coach and that may fit well with Thorpe.
  21. Very little chance Bombers will bring in new pieces, but maybe O'Shea can convince Hall to utilize the pieces that are are here in a better system. As a defensive player, O'Shea ought to be able to figure out what is actually going to work consistently.
  22. Despite his pick 6, Carter did not look all that good in his debut as a d-back. Calgary played like poop and almost any other team would have beaten them. Bridge is starting to look able, but I'm not ready to anoint him as Russ Jackson's heir. Chris Jones has been lucky as much as good and his ignoring of the rules that others have to play by has helped him and the league ought to come down hard on him and the Riders and let him know that his days of forgiveness are over. Jones' biggest asset is how badly the Riders sucked last year and how low the bar had been set for this season.
  23. This has to fixed SAP- we are on the cusp of the playoffs and have to have a settled and respected defence before we get there. Hurl and Knox have had ample opportunity to show their stuff, and have been found wanting.
  24. Its kinda sad to see Wally, who has been such a respected fixture in the CFL for so many years, come to this.
  25. On one of the telecasts this year, it was mentioned that the completion rate for 2-point conversion this year in the CFL was about 50%, so going for it on 3rd and 5 shouldn't be that much of a stretch.
