Darian Durant Retires
I'm afraid Davis had ample opportunity to show that he had the right stuff but fell well short of the mark. He will not be missed.

Training Camp 2018
In the video highlights, Steveler looked to have all the skills necessary to fit right into the CFL- quick release, good accuracy, and the smarts to run when he has to. Didn't see too many long bombs, though.

Darian Durant Retires
Is it time to declare this a Durant-free zone? Except perhaps for calling a bad-attitude player "a Durant"?

Back Up QB
Not to mention almost total disregard for his survival.

Bomber Moves 2018
They certainly didn't last too long.

Around The League: 2018 Offseason
I still remember that game, as hard as I have tried to repress the memories. It was the worst performance by at least the collective Bomber quarterbacks (maybe even the whole freaking CFL) that I can recall being exposed to. And traumatized by.

Around The League: 2018 Offseason
Didn't he come to camp with a lot of hype but showed up looking like the Michelin man?

Birds of a feather...

Thanks for info. It looks like he is another athlete blessed with all the tools to be great but self-sabotaged.

Bomber Moves 2018
Wally could probably find that under his sofa cushions.

I am one of a small minority that still think that Cato would be worth a look. God knows, he was athletic and had fire in his belly. He did throw high-risk passes but the Als were struggling at the time and he took it upon himself to try to carry the team. He was one of the few Als that cared enough to give a spit when they lost due to their own ineptitude.

In the narrowest of definitions, you are correct. Politics and sports have been intertwined for at least 3000 years, maybe longer, but if an athlete/coach/manager expresses a political opinion that agrees with the views of the ownership or league, it probably enhances his/her career. You don't have to go very to see that.

But do you know why divers roll backwards off the boat?

Around The League: 2018 Offseason
I certainly can. Some decisions are right, even though they have an exorbitant cost as a consequence. An example was Leslie Mahafee's decision to not torture her friend ant the behest of Carla Homolka and Paul Bernardo. She said,"No. Some things are worth dying for" and they killed her. Rosa Parks was arrested, assaulted and jailed for her refusal to go to the back of the bus. The list goes on and on. Money does not define what is important.

That's crappy.

Around The League: 2018 Offseason
Given the lifespan of quarterbacks, in two years, Nichols will be close to the end of his playing career, and losing two QBs at the same time would not be good. Bomber track record in finding starting QBs is not good.

Around The League: 2018 Offseason
Quite probably. However, he might start missing the game and/or get bored or decide to come here and light up the league to spark interest from a desperate NFL club. Apparently there are rumours that there is an agreement by the NFL owners to freeze him out to make a point so that the hired help doesn't get uppity.

Manziel and Kaerpernick are entirely different cats. Manziel has shown some very troubling personal conduct issues, whereas Kaepernick took a principled stand against systemic violence perpetrated against minorities that have been around even prior to the birth of America. Whether Kaerpernick wants to come to the CFL, or if he can adapt to the Canadian game are still to be determined. So far as I know, he has no desire to come to the CFL, but he was a damned good quarterback.

Back Up QB
Welcome to our occasionally fractious group and we all hope that Alex shows well. That he has an MBA should mean that he has smarts enough to adapt to the CFL with rules that often confuse the heck out of American players who come up here. The wider field, extra player and motion along with the three downs are difficult for some to adapt to.

Darian Durant Retires
Not certain if it has been referenced in this forum, but Saturday's Free Press had an excellent article on Durant's character, and it was not at all flattering on Durant. He appears to have fragile ego and is petulant into the bargain. In a related issue, had he actually stayed on with the Bombers, he could well have let the team down at a critical juncture.

Around The League: 2018 Offseason
I wonder if there is any chance we could tempt a certain kneeling quarterback to come up to Canada?

2018 CFL Draft
There's a good interview with Simonise at 3downnation, and he is saying all the right things, so that is encouraging.

Bomber Moves 2018
Not a heck of a lot of objective information out there on Steveler, but the size (6'2" and 209lb) is CFL sized.

2018 CFL Draft
I wouldn't bet the farm on that, but we can hope.
