  1. I disagree. Good/great players make the plays when it counts and good/great coaches make the right calls when it counts. After a deathbed repentance, O'Shea finally inserted Nichols who carried the team to their win streak in mid-season. Yes, it coincided with upgrades to the O-line, but it ought to have happened a lot sooner. I am sure others can provide additional examples from this season and the past two. I do not think O'Shea has merited an extension.
  2. Replace Wild and Bass (and both have been very good in the past); find a dominant rush end; add a premier Canuck receiver and tie the can to O'Shea and Richie. Oh, and find a QB who can challenge Nichols for the starter role.
  3. Yup. O'Shea's decision cannot be attributed to his being a rookie head coach. When you add this to his stubbornness about playing Willy over and over this year when it was obvious to all and sundry that Willy just didn't have it any more and the whole team (except O'Shea) knew it, then O'Shea's judgment comes very much into question.
  4. I was referring to the past dozen years or so.
  5. You had me until you exonerated O'Shea.
  6. I don't think the anger will subside much over the next while. We've been here too many times, and this one really chafes because we have the horses to do better. The problems have been there off and on all season but never really fixed; the "bend, then break" defense has not been able to adapt very well, our linebacking is very suspect, the D-line did not get good pressure on the opposing QB consistently, and we have had too many stretches where the offence was AWOL. I had reservations about LaPolice but he has redeemed himself in my eyes, but O'Shea and Hall have not. The O-line is solid, Nichols is good enough, at least for now, and the running game and receivers are good enough, but we still need a top-flight Canuck receiver.
  7. I am definitely cheering for the 'Cats. They are underdogs with a lot of missing players and I am not a fan of Maas. A long shot, but these things do happen every now and again.
  8. I expect BC to try to run against the Bombers a lot, at least at first. Jennings threw up what, 5 interceptions in the last two games? Should the Lions be successful, the secondary will have to have to close up to the line of scrimmage and the Bomber linebackers will not be able to drop into coverage. Then Jennings can shred the Bombers' secondary. I do not think we have the best set of linebackers.
  9. The CFL has always been in a state of near-crisis. Nothing new here.
  10. Harris may not be as effective as hoped- BC's linebackers may be the best in the league and their D-line is not bad, either. I think their secondary is vulnerable and I do wish that we had Gurley in the lineup instead of Smith.
  11. Great. Now we just have to stifle Sinkfield and Ryan Whatisname and we're gold. Apparently Gore has ongoing concussion problems and his career may be over.
  12. Absolutely agree that we cannot let Jennings get into a rhythm and/or get ahead by more than a field goal or so. Our offence is not potent enough to play catch-up every game. If Jennings get rattled or frustrated, he will likely start trying to force the ball.
  13. McDuffie and Fogg are both quick and fast but Fogg seems to have that spidey sense to find the holes.
  14. One can dream, can one not?
  15. Well, there would be a warm comfy place here....
  16. Could it come down to the kickers? If so, I like our chances.
  17. Afterthought: Could Hurl's performance have anything to do with Ottawa's playing the whole farm team? And you may wish to download Adblock Plus (its free) or download Baidu Antivirus with built in ad-block (also free and very good).
  18. At the rising and the setting of the sun, we shall remember them.
  19. I beg to differ. Not so much this year apart from the said game, but in the two previous years, there were many games in which the Bombers were showing by their body language that they did not expect to win and played like it. It may not have been O'Shea's fault- often the team just didn't have the horses, but the end result was the same- slowly onto the field and a step behind the other teams.
  20. I hope Mr. Feoli-Gudino gives one of his better efforts on Sunday. I thought he was way better than Kolhert in his limited field time but when he started a few games ago, he was pathetic.
  21. A player like Loffler comes along maybe once every 10-15 years and good receivers pop up in the CFL pretty much every year.
  22. "Mailed it in?" Are you referring to the last home game against Ottawa?
  23. I would prefer to see a double-reverse half-gainer with a twist.
  24. Roosevelt is a heckuva player and if he had been on a better team, he would have been a contender.
