  1. As I see it (and this should not be mistaken for gospel), we are fairly close to being competitive but we need a top-grade Canuck receiver (like Fantuz) but it appears that our greatest questions lie at the feet of our coaches.
  2. Bombers have to show up tonight, no matter who gets put on the field. That stinkeroo last game has to be wiped out of the minds of the players and fans. Where the Bombers start the playoffs is irrelevant by comparison. The team performance last game was so sickeningly similar to the way the Bombers played for most of last two years and to start the season that they need to impress the fans that it was a collective brain cramp and not their real selves.
  3. Should the Bombers win tonight it will mark the first time in the CFL where every eastern team is below .500. Trying to predict the outcome or even how the game will be played is a complete crapshoot with all the players being out. Its like trying to guess the outcome of a preseason game.
  4. This is sad. Sounds like a decent guy and a potentially good player in this league. The odds of Popp surviving this mess are dropping.
  5. Now you've taken all the fun out of it. I'll be over in the corner crying. My mother never protected me.
  6. The problem with being a one-trick pony like LaPolice seems to be (and maybe Hall as well) is that once the opposition scopes you out, you're boned.
  7. But but but....he was such a dominant force on the D-line.....how are we ever going to replace him?
  8. Is it exhibition season already?
  9. When criticism is due, it should be given, otherwise we would still have Kelly or such as our coach and Sleepy Joe or such as our GM. Good criticism identifies problems which in theory can be fixed. Blanket damning solves nothing.
  10. According to the CFL website, Bombers are giving several starters the game off against Ottawa. Reward for a sterling effort? (Sarcasm font)
  11. Fantuz is close enough to the end of his career that this might be the end of things for him.
  12. Make it so, Mr. Crusher.
  13. Re: Rakeem Cato- a QB who can run creates so many options and I wish we had one who was allowed to step up Re: When will O'Shea sit Nichols down?- right after the first (and only) playoff game of 2016
  14. So I am not the only one having a butt-pucker moment upon learning that Hurl is back in at MLB?
  15. It occurs to me to wonder if the Bombers couldn't get it up for a game at home in front of fans who had started to believe in them and with a home-field advantage (?) at stake, what reason do we have to believe they will turn it on in Ottawa Friday? Or in the playoffs? The best get better when the chips are down, but this edition? Who knows?
  16. nope. That would be like asking for a second colonoscopy because the first one wasn't enough.
  17. My CFL history knowledge is not that encyclopedic but I do not think you would have to go too far back to find such.
  18. Strange stuff happens every week in pro sports. Yes, the Bombers could roll right through into the Grey Cup and squeak past (probably) the Stamps, but the football gods would all have to line up on our side and the whole Bomber side would have to play the game of their lives. Should that improbably happen, it would be the stuff of legends for decades to come.
  19. And look how well that turned out. Nichols has had hesitant starts before but he got better as the game went on- but nothing as bad as he looked Saturday. Coaches get paid to assess when its time to change the tempo of the game, and O'Shea's blind reliance on Willy despite Willy's complete collapse in the first few games nearly threw the season away. Now, as I see it, he repeated the same thing with Nichols last game. That is not going to look good on his CV.
  20. He was pretty good not so long ago- bring him for a looksee.
  21. Yup. I cannot see how leaving Nichols in while failing series after series would do anything for his confidence. Better to get him over to the sidelines to get him watching and then plug him in if he can see what is going on. If that doesn't work, spell him off- it wouldn't have been a new experience for him.
  22. Well, we're going to find out if Nichols and the team can rebound from what was possibly their worst outing of the year.
  23. But has Nichols looked as bad in any of the previous games this year as he did last game? I think not.
  24. I've seen the best coaches pull a player when it becomes obvious that he is really struggling. I do not think that it is necessary to wait out whole damned game for a miracle. Did anyone think that the team and Nichols in particular were going to come storming back after the first half's putrid performance?
