    He hasn't contributed a nickel's worth of value to the team, either. He's had sort of a six month paid vacation. Like a politician.

    I loved Dave Richie for his crusty bluntness but as he aged, he fell into the trap of identifying with his older players probably due to discomfort with his own aging. Given time, he might have worked through it, but the axe fell.

    I do think O'Shea deserves a new contract but for two years more- one good year out of three does not inspire confidence, and the gaffes of the past two years are still too fresh in my memory.

    I'm betting on the Riders grabbing him in the off-season. Actually, they will probably sign him today or tomorrow but announce it much later.

    By the way- what is it with all the receivers in the Eastern Conference being badasses this year?

    There have been some shocking upsets this year in the CFL, so don't think its a gimme. The Als have expelled Carter in a sort of team bowel movement, so that will be a great improvement right there and may inspire a victory.

    Carter kvetched his way out of the NFL and is probably close to doing the same in the CFL. Giant talent, giant ego, minuscule common sense.

    I am expecting Gurley to play and give us the threat that has been missing for so long.

    Conversely, there is no video recording to prove that his butt was not down, either, so the default decision is that the ref who saw the play and called it made the correct call.

    Since it seems that Richards is not going to contribute to the team as a tall possession receiver, it falls to Gurley.

    Truth be told, Lions, Esks and the Bombers are so close despite differing strengths and weaknesses that you could throw a blanket over all three at the same time.

    All in good fun, but Matt Nichols is going to have to really shell out to feed Stanley Bryant.

    If anyone wants an eye-opener as to alternative approaches to drug usage, research how Switzerland and Portugal deal with things like that.
