The next three
The way Reilly got laid out last game, he ought to be seeing and hearing birdies for a while. I couldn't believe he was able or allowed to go back into the game, and that impact has to have a long-term effect on him.

Is it time for Davis...
If Glenn wasn't having the season of his career (before the injury), the Riders would not have won more than a couple of games to date. Franklin shows a lot of promise, but so have many other QBs who flamed out quickly. The most interesting player who is or will be available is Collaros, who is nowhere as bad as he has looked this year, and I do not know why Hamilton did not trade him to the Argos for the previously mentioned package. If Jones wants a shot at the playoffs with Glenn benched for any length of time, Collaros has to be the only viable option out there. The problem is that Hamilton will want a long dollar for him, and Jones may have to get bent over for the trade.

Smoke 'n' Mirrors
Bombers have been winning in a manner which left them open to being described as more lucky than good. This game was a real crucible. For all his hubris, Jones is a darned good defensive coach and has built a very good defense in Regina, so this win cannot be written off as lucky. Bombers were full value for the win- unlike last week where two plays in the first quarter rattled the Bombers and the Riders got excited.

Game Day Thread - Revenge & Emotion
I expect the Riders to try to slow the game down as much as possible and go to ball-possession plays to take the crowd out of the game. They will expect the Bombers to come out storming but the Bomber counter to that will be a similar ball-control game plan, which means Thorpe will be sorely missed. Bombers absolutely cannot give up the big easy scores or turn the ball over. One of these teams is going to be exposed today.

And if you suffer a groin injury.....?

Game day roster
I do not have confidence that this defensive lineup is good enough. Lankford starts again? Ahead of Thorpe? WTF?

What to do about the D?
Who are we to challenge the decisions of our beloved leaders? It's like we we too dumb to know enough to to criticize their choices of Willy, Peach, Kuale etc.

New DB arriving?
Hard to tell if there is a plan behind all this juggling or if it is random events.

What to do about the D?
Wild wouldn't be the first very good player whose body couldn't take the pounding and had to pack it in early.

Frank Renaud Released
Come on, White Out. SPuDs is not defending Hurl- he is trying to provide the rationale for the way things are. There are darned few here who are saying that Hurl is one of the top MLB's in the league, but we are stuck with him. Whether its Walter's inability to find a better alternative or O'Shea's reluctance and/or stubbornness, or Hall's incompetence, it all comes down to the same thing.
-
Frank Renaud Released
What O'Shea and Hall say is not as important as the results on the field, and we have the second worst defense in the league. The coaches are not going to criticize Hurl in public out of professionalism and because they have no viable alternative.

I would disagree about the fraudulent part- the rule was put in place to allow injured players to be tended to and replaced. If a player fakes injury to gain a perceived or actual advantage, then it is fraudulent. fraud·u·lent [ˈfrôjələnt]ADJECTIVE obtained, done by, or involving deception, especially criminal deception: unjustifiably claiming or being credited with particular accomplishments or qualities: "he unmasked fraudulent psychics" synonyms: dishonest · cheating · swindling · corrupt · criminal · illegal · unlawful · illicit · deceitful · double-dealing · duplicitous · dishonorable · unscrupulous · [mo

FYI: the real reason Scots started wearing kilts is that it had gotten to the point where the sound of a zipper was stampeding whole herds of sheep.

serious scrap heaping going on in the Hammer
If Couture is close to being as good as Neufeld, then it would make sense to trade Neufeld- his paycheque is a lot heftier and we could use that money better elsewhere.

What to do about the D?
Does anyone else here detect a whiff of bovine excrement when O'Shea and Hall talk about Hurl being used primarily to engage an opposing O-lineman as opposed to a "traditional" linebacking role? I cannot see how a 218 lb linebacker is expected to consistently stop or even slow down a 300lb O-lineman who will have 2-3 yards to pick up speed. It seems to me that they are stuck with him in that position due to having no better options and they have sort of adapted the role to try to minimize his liabilities- in other words, he is expected to serve as a speed-bump with the number 10 on it.

Labour Day Classic: Winnipeg @ Saskatchewan
Well, we're going to see how much intestinal fortitude our new commissioner has which will be shown by how aggressively he deals with this crap. Its not that Wally Buono who did this- its a coach who has shown arrogance and contempt for the league and its rules, so he ought to be squashed SAP.

What will be different in the Banjo Bowl?
The most obvious differences will be that almost all of the crowd will have their own teeth and not look suspiciously like their dates for the game.
