Kent Austin??? A sense of ha-ha??? CFL's Kent Austin??? -
But group dynamics are group dynamics everywhere.

He may not measure up down there......

I do not think it is that simple. In military Command School, if an officer or NCO screws up so badly that the troops stop respecting him/her, that person is moved out soonest possible. Command presence means that the subordinates execute without thinking or over-thinking their assignments. If they do not believe that they are not being directed in such as way as to give the best chance of success, they start free-lancing or hesitating, and things go rapidly downhill from there. You may have had such a boss who was neither trusted nor respected.

This scenario is the best one that Willy can hope for, short of Nichols blowing a tire and Willy coming out of his coma to light up the scoreboard. However, if Willy has lost the confidence of the team, I'm not sure if he can get it back.
-
Not that unusual. CJOB is the house organ of the Bombers and their only claim to relevance over 1290 radio. If they get into bad-mouthing the Bombers, suddenly they would find their phone calls not being returned and players becoming loath to talk to them.

And the Offensive Coordinator in 2015 when the team was sucking so badly was....?
-
I believe that you are not portraying the debate accurately. Those who question Willy's value are not a lynch mob- the question is any backup quarterback worth $400,000 per year, and could that money be best used to strengthen the team elsewhere?
-
That is an assumption that Willy is better than a .200 quarterback with his teammates still having some confidence in him. If we can't get better than .250 with Davis or Bennett, we should be bringing QB prospects in.

Could be the Wright choice for the Stampeders. -
LaFrance has looked...OK but the sample size is way too small.

I was expecting to see a large mushroom-shaped cloud rising from the Hamilton sidelines before halftime, but Austin seems to have narrowly averted a meltdown.
-
Its hard to distinguish between loss of confidence and outright fear. I presume that the Bombers would have sent him to chat with a sports psychologist, but that only works for about a third of people.
-
Great work, Mr. Dee. Keep it up- please!

Not many are saying Willy is worthless, at least not yet, but he is dramatically overpaid for a backup, and his on-field performance is not the only issue. The team sure as heck seems to have quit on him. Nichols played well, yes, but when he came in, suddenly the whole team was galvanized. With Willy behind center, the team played as if they expected to lose. We can complain all we like, but it really means nothing. If the team has lost confidence in Willy, he is done for.

Kobe Bryant, Muhammed Ali, Brett Favre etc etc would provide proof to the contrary. Talent and class seem to be completely different things.

As one guy put it, "I'm not gay, but twenty bucks..." -
Didn't even know they were dating.

We are probably going to see Willy on the field again before the end of the season, and we ought to pray it will not be as a starter. Nichols has earned the right to be the starter but he is going to have a bad game or two.
-
But a darned good whiner who would be welcomed here in place of Willy.
-
The honeymoon with Nichols is great, but we are not going to win every game from here on in and there are weaknesses in the team which will cost us a few games to come. Moreover, as far as every player on the team is concerned, there is a cost/benefit ratio. We have had things go our way for a couple of games under Nichols, but the breaks are not always going to go our way and we have to be realistic. Willy's salary is a big debit on the books and sooner or later, Walters has to look at Willy and ask whether he is worth $22,222.00 per game to hold the clip board. If Walters and O'Shea can get the same degree of performance out of Davis and/or Bennett as they are getting from Willy, they have to look at that.
-
If the team under Nichols continues this level of play, the Bombers are a .500 team. With Willy at the helm, we were/are looking at 4 and 14 or at best, 6 and 12. If Davis or Bennett cannot match that, why are we keeping them?
