  1. More trivia: "The Rock" was not his first wrestling persona. He started out as a new-age/Polynesian kind of shtick wearing multi-coloured feathers but I cannot recall his stage name.
  2. That thought is outright ugly.
  3. Bombers damned well better start feeling the heat. If/when a new regime is installed a lot of the current crew will be packing.
  4. Who could forget?
  5. Masoli has been full value for his newfound respect- he has earned it with his performance against the Esks, Willy, not so much. Masoli has looked terrible in other games but he absolutely shone in his last game.
  6. I'm afraid we are down to hoping for the fewest embarrassments possible and grim resignation.
  7. Ah. So, the interview I saw was him dramatizing his life.
  8. If it was solely Walters' decision to hire O'Shea, he ought not to be trusted to hire the next head coach (if he gets a chance to redeem himself), and Miller needs to step in. Somehow, I doubt that Walters had that authority and he must be kicking himself about not taking the Guelph job.
  9. Not to excuse anyone's behaviour, but I suspect the prospect of yet another disastrous season has shortened the fuses of some here.
  10. Crap, just crap. Not looking forward to Thursday's game. We are going to get lit up in the secondary, but if ever there was an underdog story to be written, this is it. Time for Walters to earn his paycheque and get us a usable Canadian O-lineman.
  11. Kyle Knox arrived with a heck of a resume, but I thought Bass looked comfortable at MLB for the first time against the Stamps. Do we really need a change there? On the other hand, nobody's job is safe now.
  12. No guarantees, but right now either Khari Jones or Tom Higgins would look good as head coach. Yup. Grasping at straws now.
  13. When we start talking about bringing Steve Morley back, we have reached the outer limits of desperation.
  14. Yes, his brittleness is a concern, but at the last Banjo Bowl I met his parents and they seemed to be very nice people.
  15. I started to post this in one thread but a popup told me that another thread specifically about Nichols' start had starter, so I clicked on that popup and posted there, thinking my previous composition would be deleted, but it didn't. Mea culpa.
  16. As per LongThrow: given O'Shea's unrelenting stubbornness in the past, I would bet (and will never know for sure) that Miller handed down a "thou shalt".
  17. Sort of like offering a condemned man a cigarette before the firing squad takes aim.
  18. This kinda feels like a trap- starting Nichols in a game wherein the Bombers have low chances of winning. Thus, if Nichols does not win (probable), O'Shea can say ,"See? I told you." Still, change has to start somewhere and we can hope that Nichols plays well enough to keep the game close throughout the whole 60 minutes.
  19. Bombers announced this morning that Matt Nichols will be starting in Edmonton.
  20. Masoli's performance in Edmonton was amazing and who knows, he may never play that well again. However, Kent Austin is a very good judge of talent and if he has kept Masoli around, it was surely because he was capable of this sort of thing. I don't think Edmonton's defence fell apart in the second half, but the turnaround sure appeared to be the result of someone finding the "on" switch on Masoli and a Hamilton attack plan. Many of the throws Masoli made were pinpoint darts and the receivers caught darned near everything thrown near them. The only game I can recall that was near this sort of miraculous was a Montreal Alouette game waaay back when Sonny Wade came off the bench after half-time and filled the air with footballs, erasing a huge deficit.
  21. A win in Edmonton is likely just a stay of execution for O'Shea. He has been poor enough as a head coach to warrant firing.
  22. Don't think so- he was at a Stampeder training camp trying out as a linebacker, was cut and was so low that he considered suicide.
  23. Neufeld is not an all-star but he is serviceable when used in the right scheme plus he has the right passport. Considering the struggles of the O-line, I am beginning to wonder if Wylie is as good as he is supposed to be.
  24. That's setting the bar really low for comparison.
  25. We are probably not going to see Bennett on the field this year and we haven't seen enough of Nichols in a good (non-Bellefeuille) offence to tell if he is better than Masoli.
