  1. Yawn
  2. Saying it is easy, the hard part is keeping a straight face.
  3. Wooo! Start of a streak! ;-) If you are referring to fleeing whilst unclothed, maybe.
  4. com'n Doc...give it a rest! I think he makes a pretty good point. EDM looks like they are set to be a contender for a few years. WPG, not so much. And, according to an unnamed source, the Big Blue are considering a name change to "Ringling Brothers, Bombers, and Bailey".
  5. Nor much for booze myself, but a couple of guys (ok, more than a couple) would get a syringe and shoot a couple of oranges full of vodka for consumption during classes. Seemed to keep them happy.
  6. And apparently he doesn't embarrass easily.
  7. We'll know next June. No.. Next june we will have cries of "what a bust!"when he isnt starting yet or "what a bust!" If he starts and stuggles.. Followed by, "cut him some slack" and "picks take a while" from the other group.. A better time-frame would be in July August. Even then, might be too soon to attempt to pass judgement as it does take a player who was groomed in American football to come full term with the CFL rules and changes. Year two is good indicator but still shouldn't be make or break imo.. Agreed. Training camp should give Waggoner a chance to begin to push now that he has been in the CFL for a bit. Bass struggled for awhile but has grown into a very good linebacker, so that ought to be a good yardstick to use for Waggoner.
  8. We'll know next June.
  9. With the amount of money in play here, the insurance company or companies will fight like cornered badgers to try to avoid paying out. They try to prove willful negligence on the part of the insured(s) and are probably already prepping their strategies.
  10. Them what has, gets.
  11. Benevides & Higgins... you would still need to ask permission to BC & MTL. Of course they'd say yes, but they still have contracts so it's part of the process. I like the idea of bringing back LaPo. I'm sure he'd be open to it too, knowing O'Shea will have a short leash, and no one from the Mack era that rushed him out there door is left! I'm not sure if LaPolice is the best choice. He was so cautious in his playcalling that it seemed that he was more concerned about not losing rather than winning. Higgins seems to be the best alternative.
  12. If you want another frame of reference, look at the Winnipeg airport and the expensive renovations it had to go through to be fully functional, and that had nothing to do with BBB. Poop happens and the guilty party or parties do carry insurance, thank God.
  13. Is it too late to campaign for Harlequin?
  14. For me, the issue is not about any tampering that may or may not have gone on. A $5,000.00 fine, big deal. And, as others have said, it probably goes on more than is let on (nudge-nudge-wink-wink stuff), but IF the report is accurate and IF it was done without O'Shea's initiative, it spreads poop on the whole organizations structure, Miller, and Walters but it especially impacts O'Shea. If O'Shea is seen as too inept to choose his own people that is a very bad comment on our current head coach. O'Shea seems to be a decent sort, and deserves respect.
  15. It might be a good idea that all teams who do not make the playoffs be required to attend at least the first playoff game en masse to both witness what they are missing and also to be subject to the jibes of the fans of successful teams. It strikes me that this would be poetic justice.
  16. How can this be the government's mess to clean up? These sort of contracts clearly specify that all work must be done to code, and if the general or sub-contractors or architect or engineers screw up, that is their problem. The government has to protect its investment and if it means guaranteeing the cost of the repair work, that is what has to be done. The alternative, letting the stadium remain as is and deteriorate until the process finishes winding its way through the courts (which will take years) would be insane. Your house insurance has a clause that, in the event of say, a storm ripping part of your roof off, you are required to take reasonable measures (like putting a tarp over the damaged part) or any further damage that results will not be covered. Same principle.
  17. I think the Requiem chant from the "Monty Python and The Holy Grail" movie where the monks are whacking themselves in the head with boards would be more appropriate
  18. Because he's still busy actually coaching.....and Walters is doing player personnel stuff, etc.......so, in theory, Wade can do the "wine 'em, dine 'em" thing on everyone's behalf. I think a lot of people have forgotten that this trio, for better or for worse, work together on pretty much everything. It's been reported several times, that they are all very much on the same page and make most decisions together. I refuse to believe that WM is going behind anyone's back here. Have gotten that vibe, as well......so they can share the blame, as well Well, after two years of Miller/Walters/O'Shea I've seen enough. I didn't think it possible to win less games than last year but they proved me wrong. T^here was a Soviet-era Russian joke about the crops that applies here. The Russian minister of agriculture was asked about the harvest , and he answered, "Worse than last year, but better than next year."
  19. That may be the case, but the head coach is ultimately responsible for who he hires and the product on the field, good, bad or indifferent. Ask the former head of Vokswagen. Mmmm ... I dunno. That one was a family squabble, not a case of incompetence, like here. Nope. The "squabble" is going to cost Volkswagen between 2 and 2.6 billion Euros to fix the fudged emission systems. The big cheese didn't do the dirty deed, but it happened on his watch, so he did the honourable thing and fell on his sword.
  20. It began for me when I was working my summer job with Canada Packers on Marion Street and meeting Minnick, Miller and that group as they were coming off the practice field. Seems to me that players were a lot less arrogant at that time. And Joe Critchlow was a neighbour for a while.
  21. That may be the case, but the head coach is ultimately responsible for who he hires and the product on the field, good, bad or indifferent. Ask the former head of Vokswagen.
  22. The biggest issue may be that Miller might be undermining Walters and O'Shea if this is being done without their initiative. I do not think that O'Shea is a good head coach, but he deserves to be treated with respect so long as he is still here.
  23. Our season is no longer in our hands, and we are reduced to hoping that BC and Montreal implode worse than we have, but that ain't likely.
  24. if this report is accurate, it undermines both Walters and O'Shea and goes a long way towards making Walters think very hard about the U of Guelph job. If O'Shea chooses his own people, he is due either praise or criticism for how things turn out. If he is being told who he should have, it emasculates him and absolves him of any responsibility. If he still has any pride left, he ought to resign, and this seems to explain why this team has been so screwed up for so long, just like when Bauer was here.
  25. Ottawa may be the beneficiary of Burris having a great year which he may never reach again, but despite a lot of slagging in this forum, DesJardins has made some smart acquisitions. The coaching staff appears to be decent if not exceptional, so that is on DesJardins as well. It has to be really difficult to assess our offensive players until we have good coaching for the offense and O-line and another training camp to get everyone on the same page in a new system.
