  1. Berry may not have been on his players' Christmas card lists, but he was the last winning coach we had, and he didn't have an All-star quarterback, either. This has come up here before, but there are a lot of winning coaches in many sports who were not beloved by their players- Tom Landry, and Scotty Bowman to name a couple. And we've had a couple of coaches who were well-liked by their players but disasters on the scoreboard. Kevin Glenn was a finalist for MOP and Eastern All-Star in 2007. Berry was the last winning head coach but his record here was 1 game over .500 No one has ever accused Glenn of being an all-star, and one game over .500 would look pretty good these days.
  2. Jennings looks to be able to sideline Lulay permanently. Strange, though, how Glenn could be in Montreal for two weeks and pick up an offense enough to shine, but our QBs can hang around for months/years and still not be ready to play. Strange.
  3. Harris has been pancaked.Ouch.
  4. Glenn is doing as well as I expected him to. His style- quick looks and quick tosses interspersed with runs and the occasional long bomb to keep the DBs honest is very similar to Calvillo's. He is a stopgap for a year, maybe two while they groom Cato who looks to have the tools, not the experience as yet.
  5. Why do you consistently rank us behind the riders when evidence shows contrary to that belief? The bottom-feeders were not ranked. BTW, you are in error when you say I continually rank the Bombers lower than the Riders, although the past ten years' performance would support that the Bombers have been demonstrably worse. When the Riders flub, its good for a chuckle or two, but I care enough about the Big Blue to give a damn.
  6. If the Bombers are down at the half again, we're one for. The D-line changes mean less pressure on Burris, so he ought to have a field day.
  7. Or a lot more body hair.
  8. I'm tired of being teased with false hope. Time for the 2015 Bombers to cook or get off the stove (cleaned up for public consumption).

  10. I suggest you look back at the decisions made by this regime over the past two years and it may give you the answer to your question.
  11. At this point in the season, no team looks unbeatable, although Toronto, Edmonton, Hamilton and Calgary are the cream. Ottawa continues to surprise, winning with smoke and mirrors, and then.....there's the dregs: BC, Montreal, the Riders and us, alas. Its going to be a week or two with a lot of upsets.
  12. The unfortunate car. That was a nice old Thunderbird. It was a T-bird, wasn't it?
  13. Supporting your beloved team does not automatically mean you applaud bonehead performances by the players, inept coaching or bad decisions by the GM or scouting staff. To me it means calling a spade a spade and continuing to follow and look for the best for the team. If fans do not demand better, we will continue to get what we've been getting since we were spoiled by Cal Murphy and Mike Reilly. Maybe Doug Berry would have fallen into that category as well, but Bauer thought better of it.
  14. I'm not a coach, but Jake seems to have been underutilized.
  15. Weird. He wouldn't even have gotten the interview chair warm. Maybe he didn't like the dressing room decor.
  16. This is a hoot, and well worth the read.
  17. Well, something has to be.
  18. Just finished watching the highlight reel. He obviously has the physical tools- good arm and mobility when he has to run, but his setup mechanics to throw are not good. We've had a number of promising pivots come here who were too lazy and/or arrogant to learn their craft. Aaah- maybe this one will be different.
  19. Imagine the hue and cry around here when the season is over and there is a lot less to kvetch about.
  20. You're expecting logic in this forum?
  21. But but but....we were promised he would be back in plenty of time for this season. Could it be that we have been hornswoggled? All you had to do was to look up that type of injury to know they were BS'ing us. I think most of us knew. Yup. I don't like being treated as if fans are dumb. We've had too much of that lately.
  22. Welcome aboard, and don't take umbrage at the nitpicking and occasional spewing of bile here.
  23. I saw that hit as well, but it didn't seem to slow BJ very much. Does make me wonder how many such blatant and potentially serious hits go missed and uncalled with the effects showing up a year or three later.
  24. I thought that Catalon ran a lot like a certain Argo running back who went on to be a head coach with some success. Catalon looks to be quick, didn't break too many tackles but great balance/body control and despite his NFL assessment that he had questionable hands, looked to be at least decent as a receiver. Durability may be an issue.
  25. i rarely wish ill for anyone, but......
