Bombers now with MOS like Jets with Noel ...
Tracker replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
There is a good parallel between the Thrashers/Jets when they arrived and the Bombers of 2013-2014. Both teams had not been doing well with under-performing players and some deadwood. The Jets chose to go with a relatively inexperienced but well-meaning and personable coach as did the Bombers in hiring O'Shea. Both choices, in retrospect were mistakes. Both teams needed experienced coaches who had demonstrated success. The Jets eventually resolved their problems, and now the Bombers are faced with difficult and painful decisions, and although it will be harmful to the team, the Bombers will stand pat. The end of the season will see another housecleaning, with O'Shea and possibly even Walters gone. Walters will probably jump before he is pushed and may have already negotiated a deal with the Bombers to leave with his dignity intact to join the U of Guelph. The Bombers need an experienced GM and head coach and there seems to be no one on the horizon who fits that description better than Higgins. Tillman may be available as GM, and I have real mixed feelings at that possibility, but I am so sick and tired of losing and losing badly that I am willing to consider Tillman or even Taman. Ick. -
The loss was worse than I had expected. We got schooled by Popp and had our butts kicked by a mediocre team, a mediocre coach and a sub-mediocre quarterback. O'Shea has no answers and with Walters flirting with the U of Guelph, there is no way that Walters is going to can O'Shea. And there is no way O'Shea is going to can Bellefeuille out of misplaced loyalty and having no real alternative.

wow- we suck. why have sucked for so long?

Ummm- did you not watch the first half of the game? -
Hall may be the best we have as an alternate head coach replacement for O'Shea, but I shudder to think what would happen to the only competitive part of this teamif he wasn't looking after it. 65-12 losses for the rest of the season?

And now we're into fantasy football.

Yup. O'Shea and Bellefeuille have been thoroughly discredited and we need experience- Trestman or Higgins, and I'm not sure if Trestman will be available any time soon. -
Odds and Sods - Game 12 Blue Bombers at Montreal Als
Tracker replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Thanks, DoD, for the pst-mortem assessment. Accurate but depressing and repetitive- sounds like all the other blowout losses this year. We now have more blowout losses than wins and the sad ratio is growing. We're way past the "tuneup needed" phase - we're into a "teardown and overhaul" phase. Again. Until this game I was 50-50 about keeping O'Shea but that is now 95-5 that he has to go. I have no doubt that the team has given up and has no confidence in itself or him and Bellefeuille. -
Marcel Bellefeuille - When does he get axed

Hall is the only bright spot in the Bomber coaching ranks. He just have a hard time working up the drive to come to work these days. -
It's time for the Riders to start sucking ...

Burris got it done, and that's all that matters. Yes it was against a crappy defence but it was still a win. As a matter of fact, despite all the bile directed at Desjardins, he also has gotten it done where we didn't, and that is as much a condemnation of the Bombers as it is praise for Ottawa. -

Do we really want to bring Muamba into this mess? It would be like bringing more passengers onto the Titanic. -
The team is letting the fans know that the fat lady has begun to sing. What we see from the outside and at a distance, they see up close and often, so they have given up. They will go through the motions, maybe pay for their jobs but none of them are planning on what to spend their playoff bonuses on. Sad times once more in Bomberland and the broadcast commentators are saying it out loud now.

Marcel Bellefeuille - When does he get axed
Tracker replied to Brandon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
According to the post-game shows on both OB ans 1290, there is a consensus that Bellefeuille will last out the season due to both O'Shea's loyalty to his hires and also because the season is de facto over, and bringing in another defensive coordinator would be a waste of time and money. Both shows were highly critical of Bellefeuille and that he had been kept on for so long in the face of overwhelming evidence that he is incompetent. I have no doubt that O'Shea has doomed himself for allowing this travesty of an offence to continue for so long. O'Shea will doubtless continue to voice optimism that the team can turn the season around right down to the last game, but he has to to know that he is a deadman walking and the players must also see the last shreds of playoff hope pretty much gone. The way the team played in the first half confirms their beliefs about where the team is going. As a side note, according to Lawless, the University of Guelph is going to be trying their damnedest to hire Walters away from the Bombers for their football program, so we probably looking at a wholesale change in the Bomber offices. Tom Higgins, anyone? -

If the Lions' defence is not the big issue, maybe that will reduce their need to go after Muamba. -

Adams had better get on his horse and start performing. He looked great in that one game but has done nothing since. Looks to have the talent but not the drive but he is not going to be much longer if he doesn't smarten up. -

Is there anyone on the Lions' roster who is having a good year? -
And for reasons known only to the coaches, Chevon Walker is still here.

Sorry, I don't buy that logic. The NFL has already passed on them the first time and in a lot of cases their sham degree from "Southern Pinestick A&M" is not going to lead to many employment opportunities in the real world that pay as well as a job in the CFL.. I can't stand this bias against athletes. Find one guy on our roster that is from a school you've never heard of. You miss the point, most football players in the US are accepted to college on athletic scholarships and would not qualify otherwise. Once there, few take advantage of the educational opportunity afforded them and piss it away on a meaningless degree or never complete. With the time commitment they have to put into football at that level it is understandable to some extent but most of these athletes do not leave college with any worthy credentials. If you can associate 10 import players on the Bomber roster with meaningful degrees I will be impressed. Define meaningful. Should have said useful, but anything above a general arts degree would be my interpretation of meaningful. I think your broken assumption is that you need a great degree to get a great job. My highest-earning friend has nothing more than a high school education (makes about $135k/year). And you are making an assumption based on one anomalous outcome. If you took say, 1000 university grads and compared their median income to the average high school grad's income, then you would have a meaningful comparison. -
There was great rejoicing in this forum when Moore was signed, and it looked like a solid upgrade. No batter in baseball hits 1000, no pro golfer hits eagles every hole, and no GM's choices pan out every time. Ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances, so kwitcherbitchin.

Some people just cannot adjust to life after being a very minor sports celebrity.

Boyd comes across as amiable, realistic and easy going. There are no guarantees, but I'm pulling for him.

We (and every other team) is being jerked around while Henoc lusts after more NFL paydays. I am beginning to lose respect for him and although I would like to see him back here, enough is enough. Poop or get off the pot.
