So you're saying we still have a chance.....
-
Kinda hard to mock the Rider faithful when our team is just a thin bit better.
-
The only way Brohm is going to be in the NFL is as a paying spectator, but like it or not, there is really no alternative to starting him on Sunday (Sigh), so you had better take nausea suppressants well in advance or large quatities of your favourite alcoholic libation. And maybe put up a shatter-proof shield in front of the TV.

Around the CFL Regular Season Discussion
Tracker replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Well, the precedents are being set, so O'Shea is going to start hesitating to answer his phone and may well go completely MIA if the Bombers lose the next two. Better to jump before you are pushed, but its darned rare for coaches and GMs to fall on their swords, no matter how crappy they were. After all, they are always on the verge of an incredible turnaround in the club's fortunes. -
No, no you don't. The Bombers wouldn't have the rights to Mulumba or Bilukidi if that were the case. I think this is the 2nd time in the last couple weeks that Kpt Krunch has made this assertion. So I will confirm your post above. CFL TEAMS HOLD THE RIGHTS OF ALL DRAFT PICKS INDEFINITELY THAT DON'T SIGN WITH THEM. He was corrected last time as well. ohhhh I was 'corrected' lol. Good one (use the waiters voice in 'The Shining' for that one). Yes you are correct - as Anthony Mulumba will be patrolling the Blue bomber dline any day now, won't he? Well, I guess he could. I do get a bit mixed up sometime. What I meant was - you draft a player (Muamba) and he plays well, so well he gets an NFL shot after his two year contract runs out (and before it was in his option year he could do that) well, if/when he fails..... unless his option year was still running - U F A . He can go anywhere. So we drafted Henoc first overall, guess what? He's a UFA if he comes back to the CFL - we don't have his rights. This is what I meant. Still a joke. And how is that substantially different from an import player who goes back to the US of A, flunks out and then tries to return to the CFL? You pays yer money and you takes yer chances. If the player has been treated well, he will probably but not certainly return to his former team. No guarantees in this business- even if you hold the rights to a given player who goes to the NFL, by the time he is done there, he could be too beat up or past his prime to be of any value here.

Not that I am any kind of expert, but for a 3-4 system to work, I believe you need a dominant nose tackle who will occupy two blockers on pretty much every play and clog up the middle, leaving only the pass and and end runs. Where is Doug Brown when you need him?

Even a 6th rounder for Nichols is the CFL equivalent value of 2 for 1 meal coupon at McDonalds.

Get a grip on reality. In the first blowout vs TiCats Drew Willy was a whopping 3 of 6 for 48 yards and zero TDs. In the next game vs Esks Willy was a masterful 7-17 for 81 yards. Next blowout vs TiCats Willy was 16-27 for 171 yards with one TD and one INT for a pick 6. As Winnipeg's starter Willy produced a total of 8 TDs in 7 games, before his injury. He had virtually the same QB passer rating as rookie Rakeem Cato, who, at that point, had played one less game. Winnipeg's O production has been mostly putrid, with the occasional big-play exception, regardless of who is in at QB since around the the halfway point of last year. Injured. Injured. Injured. Yeah, Doublezero, you really need to check the facts before you post. He got injured in each of those outings like Goalie said. You act like he threw for 48 yards in 4 quarters. And btw, that 171 yards was 2 quarters before he wrecked his knee. So he was on his way to 300. Do you even watch the games? OK here are the actual numbers: in 17 starts in 2014 Drew Willy threw for an average of 224 yards per game. In seven starts in 2015 Drew Willy threw for an average of 161 yards per game, True the 2015 numbers are skewed by Willy's unfortunate injuries in 3 games he couldn't finish. But before you tell me Willy's numbers are through the roof here's a somewhat telling number for you: in 24 games as the Bombers starting QB Drew Willy has thrown 22 TDs and 19 INTS, that's less than one TD per game and not good enough to win consistently in this league. When Bombers won a few games way back at the start of 2014 it was due to big help from special teams and defence scoring points off turnovers. That's the truth. Our production on O and at the QB position has been pretty paltry, Willy included. Good analysis, but statisitcs do not address the times that Willy was playing hurt and/or scared with an O-line which offered the protection of Kleenex and a receiving corps which was, to put it kindly, sub-par and in a constant state of flux. And then there was a certain offensive coordinator.....

From Edmonton's point of view, they got to move out a player who was not going to be part of their future, dump some salary and get a "maybe" in return for a "nothing" they had.
-
I mean, this guy just throws money at players he wants. No other team can do this. I can understand DesJardins needing to field a competitive team in short order after the previous incarnations in Ottawa, but it looks like there is no limit on his budget.
-
Possibly. I've seen athletes become gunshy after an injury even though they appeared to be fully healed. Does make me wonder what's in store for Willy.
-
Messam might say, "Thanks, takes the pressure off me!" or you might add, "Does that take the pressure off you?"
-
Especially when you factor in the "running for your life" plays.
-
When Desjardins is fired, no doubt one of the reasons will be his inability to manage the team finances under the cap.
-
Walker is quick, i'll give him that, and he even caught a few passes, but in all of his gallops, he didn't have to break any arm tackles or any sort.
-
Thanks for the highlight clip. In it nichols looks like the QB I remember from a couple of years back- mobile, good arm and decisive. I wonder what happened-did Kavis Reed screw him up?

When do we go to Davis or Russell as starting QB?
Tracker replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
A frsh start for Nichols may make a big difference. He had obviously worn out his goodwill in Deadmonton, and I hope he still has his self-confidence. Gale looked pretty decent in his limited field time, and from the looks of the perfomances from Brohm and Marve thus far, we would be way better off whith Nichols and Gale, particularly if they cost functionally nothing. -
Oooh. My nipples are hard.... Did I miss the Lemon signing? I was going to say the same thing. I don't remember us signing Lemon yet. Don't jump the gun guys. Also Brohm on and starting, with Marve being injured... I don't think that's a guarantee at this moment, really wouldn't be surprised if Davis starts. Honestly, i know it's day 1 but.... at the same time, if Brohm was definitely going to play, wouldn't Oshea say he would be instead of saying it's down to Brohm and Davis really? Report from today's practice have Brohm and Davis taking reps. with completions in the range of 25%. Game ready, then.
-
Fixed it for you.
-
Did Miller say which year or decade he was expecting this Grey Cup run?
-
Oooh. My nipples are hard....

In all likelihood, the GM has to rely on his coaches' assessment of the current talent and the resulting need (if any) for improvement. Either O'Shea and Co. believe that what they have is good enough or no one better is available. I have a hard time believing that no one better was/ is available.
-
if the back is experienced but not good enough is it worth it? I'd rather try a rookie out. That's how we got Marshall. If you keep using retreads you'll never find any good rookies. At this time of year especially you should be bringing in rookies for a look see unless you're planning on going deep in the playoffs and want that veteran insurance policy.I truly believe Walters and O'Shea are still pushing for a Grey Cup run this season. You forgot to use the sarcasm font.

Probably after we lose the LDC.Well, there is the old theory that bringing in a former member of the team you're about to be playing is a good idea...to gain inside knowledge.Sunseri would have good knowledge of who to throw to on the Bomber team. At least, that's the impression I get...he always seems to be throwing to the other team. Maybe it would be good to sign and start Sunseri. He might start throwing strikes to Bombers thinking they are the other team.

Why release Tino now? Is Glenn coming back? They may be making a point- that incompetence will not be tolerated indefinitely. A message for the Bombers here?
