  1. Apart from the homer loyalty to the Bombers, this ought to be the game of the week- arguably the two best teams and almost certainly the two best quarterbacks in the league. My money is on the Stamps.
  2. Nichols did not have a stellar game passing, and almost all his passes were short-medium. I do agree that LaPolice likely drew up that sort of game plan due to the changes in receivers and the expected ferocity of the Montreal D-line.
  3. And it says something sad about the current state of affairs in Edmonton that they didn't bury the Riders in the second half.
  4. I was trying to figure out Bowman's short fuse. He has been an all-star for so long that he has to be frustrated and embarrassed at ending his career with such a sad assortment of teammates. Every athlete would like to go out as a winner.
  5. Plus Bowman has darned few years left as an elite player or a starter, so he likely would want to go out as a winner, or at least on a winning team.
  6. Loffler's presence makes a huge difference. His big hits are going to make opposition receivers focus more on not getting smeared and less on catching the ball.
  7. My feelings exactly. We can't keep relying on turnovers to win games, and the offense has to step up consistently. Sooner or later the defence is going to have a bad or at least average game and we will need the offense to shine.
  8. Yup. Bond is the glue of the O-line's cohesiveness.
  9. But it was stupid on Cox's part as the game was still on the line.
  10. The score is 19-0 and actually flatters the woebegone Riders
  11. Duron Carter was not a factor after Loffler hit him.
  12. If you think it through, if Willy was resigned to accept lower contract, why would he go elsewhere to new system and team and have to start all over again when he could have essentially the same money here along with a known situation?
  13. Which would still place them well above Saskatchewanites in the food chain.
  14. This is definitely a winnable game. Popp may a great GM, but not a good head coach and it looks like we have the horses to beat Montreal. The keys to the game are likely pressure on Glenn and taking Duron Carter away from him. Carter runs his mouth pretty good and if the Bomber d-backs can trash-talk him to distraction by a few jostles and borderline late hits, that ought to do it.
  15. And parking downtown Calgary is scarce and/or expensive, so the C-train is a Godsend to those working there.
  16. I met Cohon and his kids at the Banjo Bowl and spoke to him. He came across as professional, polished and easy to talk to. He did good work and was well paid as the best commissioner we've had in a while.
  17. I'm pretty sure that Willy did not come forward and ask to restructure his contract, but reality has to intrude somewhere. Either he signs the new deal or he rolls the dice that someone else will pick him up for a fat contract, and Willy's resume does not inspire confidence.
  18. Welcome to this fractious group, and may you live long enough to see another Bomber Grey Cup win!
  19. It should also allow the Bombers (and fans) to give Willy more slack and maybe even take some pressure off him,
  20. Depending on his ego strength, having to come off the bench in a do-or-die situation could be the worst thing to happen to him. I used to golf with a guy who was way better than me, but as soon as money was on the game, he folded like a cheap tent. Some people just overthink and screw themselves up.
  21. FYI: According to Farhan Lalji, Burris has played the last couple of games with an owie on the pinkie finger of his throwing hand. That might explain some of his wobbly passes of late.
  22. Gonna be a good game between two evenly matched teams. Harris might be the edge Ottawa needs to get them over the thrashing they took last week.
  23. Foketi was thrown into deep water- his first CFL game with the extra player and all that motion plus being out of his natural position. They may want to give him another chance to get live-fire experience.
  24. Always find that interesting.
