  1. No matter who is the returner, if we don't block better for him, we will get the same result.
  2. Just finished watching the Sask-Hammy game and I was watching the discipline and effort of the Greenies while the Saturday Bomber debacle was still fresh in my memory. As much as we have slagged Chamblin, Taman and company, the Riders played as if they cared about the outcome. Had Glenn not been injured, they might even have won, but the point is that both teams played the game with energy and like they were well coached. The contrast to the Bomber performance of late was stark, and the only conclusion I can draw is that the problems of the team are more of the coaching variety than the talent, and that means we are in for another disasterous season and probably no better than last year, Willy or no Willy.
  3. Worse yet, even though they lost against Toronto, the Lions look like they would have little trouble beating the Bombers, so there ain't no easy two points there, either. O'Shea and company are going to have to pull off a small miracle to win, even with Willy back in, which seems likely.
  4. And by the way: exactly how was Stoudemire better than the returner (Veltung)he replaced?
  5. The real question is: will it make any difference to the outcome of the game against BC?
  6. The real point is that it is not the loss, but how it came about. We have played 5 games and in three of them the team looked incompetent, being humiliated in two of these. To beat an old drum, losses are inevitable but being routed is not. The fourth quarter last night was unacceptable for a team whioh is trying to establish an identity as a contender.
  7. That Chris Jones is quite the despicable little man. And classless. There is absolutely no reason to keep the gas pedal down on offence right until the end, nor sending blitzes when obviously, the game is over. Putz. The reality is that it was a third-string quarterback who did that to us. If the situation were reversed and say, Marve was in there with Willy out and Brohm ineffective (as usual), I would have no problem giving my third stringer all the experience he could stand even if it was already 48-0.
  8. With the offense's lack of effectiveness in the game, it was only a matter of time until the Esks broke away and ran off with the game. Willy's departure was simply a marker as to when the landslide began, and it sure as spit looks like the team has ZERO confidence in Brohm. If that is the case, it is only a matter of time, if it hasn't happened already, that that attitude spreads into disrespecting the coaching staff and we have the Burke/Kelly/Reinbold/Crowton eras all over again.
  9. Wouildn't that be putting too much pressure on Brohm? After all, he apparently said that he hadn't progressed since high school.
  10. If the whole team implodes as soon as a single player (even a starting quarterback) goes down, there is somehting terribly wrong at the heart of the team. And as far as I can see, the heart of the team is the head coach.
  11. Its not one thing right now- its almost everything. Passing, running, kicking, returning kicks, defence, coaching....
  12. Tait and Bauming said he's hurt. And yet Marve was in full unform on the sidelines at every practice. Methinks I detect bovine excrement.
  13. Yes, but if Marve isn't better than Brohm, he has to be worse than Yantz. Now listening to O'Shea trying to polish his turd- apparently the players were "trying to do too much".
  14. Bob Irving says that Marve is 100%
  15. Willy did not look like he could win even before he went down. If Marve isn't better than Brohm, Marve ought to be replaced by jordan Yantz immediately.
  16. It may not be time for O'Shea to be canned, but it is starting to look inevitable.
  17. Injury bug infecting the Stamps- two starting O-linemen and now the best running back in the league.
  18. This is his good game this year.
  19. Burris looked like he was all washed up for the first couple-three series but he seems to have found his game. In any case, he is still way past his "best before" date.
  20. Its an over-used phrase, but this is a "character-defining game" for the Big Blue. So far we've lost to two pretty good teams, albeit by self-destruction to Calary, but we have to start winning against good teams as well as the crappy ones. The points from Sask and Montreal are fine and good, but I see this match as all about confidence. We coulda, shoulda beaten Calgary but if we cannot beat a wounded Edmonton team, it may signal to the team that the close game against the Stamps was a fluke due to Calgary playing down to the Bomber level. Willy is playing well for the most part with good numbers but statistical sefl-gratification is for losers. It seems that the Hurl-MLB experiment may well be over (but I wouldn't bet on it just yet) but we still need the O-line to play well and the D-line and linebackers to play a lot better. The Esk's new running back looks like a good one and that may be the difference. This is no gimme game for the Bombers.
  21. If the Bombers turf O'Shea after a disasterous season (and I am not saying that will happen) you can safely assume that the team will be in turmoil. I was posing a hypothetical.
  22. When I drive between Calgary & Winnipeg stopping at Moosomin is never an option. I divide the trip into 4 segments... Calgary to Medicine Hat, stop for gas as it's the cheapest before Saskatchewan. Medicine Hat to Swift Current, stop for a quick bite along the highway.... McDonalds or A & W. Swift Current to Regina, stop at the Husky Station for gas before heading out of town... Regina to Brandon. Stop for a quick fill along the highway... then Brandon to Winnipeg. Vice versa the other way. Dividing up the drive like that is a helluva lot better than thinking 14 hours OMFG it's going to be Hell... Each segment is 2 1/2 to 3 hours...I'm more or less the same, but we cut out Swifty....usually the Hat to Regina in a single shot. I'm a big "Get Where I'm Going As Fast As I Can" kinda guy....no unnecessary stops.....plus why spend any more time in Saskatchewan then you have to? Because you might want to got to Rocanville to see the World's Largest Oil Can.
  23. Benevides did not cover himself with glory in BC, and I cannot see him wanting to come to a team in turmoil, as the Bombers or the Riders, for that matter would be. Once you get past Trestman, there ain't a whole lot of blue-chip coaching prospects out there.
  24. Actually, Moosomin has an interesting history. It was the center of a community consisting of remittence men- bad boys who were exiled from England to Saskatchewan and would receive remittences (mailed money) only if they stayed there. They tried to recreate British lifestyles (good luck with that) which included fox hunts, building a opera house and (honest to God) "gopher farming" which locals persuaded the fops to invest in.
  25. Because he's been taking elocution lessons from Pepe LePew.
