I certainly hope that if the coaches saw another MLB prospect in camp who was head and shoulders better than Hurl, they would have kept him and figured what to do with Hurl later. Maybe its too soon to judge Hurl until we get a couple of carnivorous tackles in front of him and the OLBs learn to read plays coming at them soon enough to turn the play back. -

A BIG loss for the Alouettes- Woods was as good as any middle linebacker in the league and better than most. lol, Elsworth steps in and dominates at the position. I don't know who is behind him on the Als depth chart but just go grovel to Popp and get him in a Bomber uniform please. With Woods out for a long stretch, Popp is not going to trade Elsworth any time soon. And yes, I would love to see Elsworth in Bomber colours. -
Maybe the answer is to have two categories of penalties. One: where the pernalty affects the outcome of the play- that would result in a replay if applicable. two: if the penalty does not affect the outcome of the play, the play will stand as is, and yardage added or subtracted from the point where the ball is without discussion or appeal.

Bombers/Als Gameday Non-Chat Room Non-GIF Thread

twice Willy was sacked when the Bombers were in FG range and both times the sacks took them out of FG range. Willy has to get rid of the ball in those cases, those sacks cost us an easy six points. The more I see of Willy the less I am sold on him. He can't read a blitz and his release is so dam slow. I'm more worried about Picard making the line calls. After 3 games I see no upside to having him in there, the amount of guys coming through the inside gaps untouched is embarrassing. Picard can't block anybody so if he can't at least get the protections right he's doing nothing for us that Goossen couldn't do. I don't fault Willy for not throwing a pass when he can't even get his eyes upfield before he's being tackled. Rather take the loss of yards than have the ball going back the other way, even if it takes us out of FG range. It's way too easy to just blame Picard. It may be as simple as the center identifying the middle linebacker so the entire line knows that player must be included as part of their pass protection, or it can be as complex as changing the entire blocking scheme on one side of the line at the point of attack. In any case all the other players need to be smart enough to pick up and execute the new blocking assignments. What I have been seeing is confusion across the line and in the backfield with the both the QB and RB in terms of identifying where the pressure is coming from and either have the RB step up or the QB roll away from it. AKA: better coaching -

Encouraging thing in their game against Sask. is BC did not look very good and didn't really deserve the win. If it weren't for Chamblin's coaching gaffes no doubt they would have lost. Terribly undisciplined team penalty wise and their D seemed to be vulnerable to the long passing game. I believe Tedford is going to be under .500 in his first year. Tedford has had success wherever he has been coaching, he knows the CFL game and he seems pretty smart. however, he may need a year to change the locker-room culture. -

Willy looked ok on the stats and we did win the game, but without the "gimme" TD our offence would have lost us the game. -
Moving Chris Randle to SAM Was A Stroke of Genius
Tracker replied to Atomic's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The linebacking is still a source of concern. Bass may have been a bit better last night but not enough to convince me he's good enough. Randle was good, but more valuable at corner- better a 5 yard completed pass than a 25 yarder. Hurl has not gotten better- cannot seem to read the play and is often out of position. -

You wouldn't have to make it a policy. They are already working the food lines at homeless shelters here. What you should do is make it a policy that all NDP-voting dope-smoking welfare sucking able-bodied men over the age of 18 should get off their lazy arses and go work at homeless shelters. I've got two neighbours I would love to see on a food line helping out the homeless, instead of staring at a video-game screen all day in mommy's basement with a bong glued to their face. Don't be ridiculous. There are plenty of dope-smoking able-bodied men that aren't on welfare. of course there are. They just don't happen to live near me I guess. But if you just want to target "right wing curmudgeons" for work on homeless shelter food lines, why not also target lazy sacks who are able-bodied and just sitting at home self-medicating too? I think the more pertinent question is whether being right wing makes you a curmudgeon, or if being a curmudgeon naturally leads to being right wing? The answer is "yes". -

I take no issue with Matty's comments but his experience with concussions are not necessarily the same as those of others. Moreover, if a medical doctor does harm by glossing over a serious diagnosis, s/he will be the subject of an investigation by the College of Physicians and Surgeons. Should there be evidence of gross negligence and/or incompetence, there will be one, some or all of: retraining, ongoing supervision by the College or loss of a licence to practice, temporarily or permanently. There can also be lawsuits- that is why almost 30% of all medical doctors' income in the US goes to paying malpractice insurance. So, bottom line: not very freaking likely that a doctor is going to rush an athlete into a premature return. -

With the butt-kicking the Bombers got last week, they cannot let Montreal get any sort of sizeable lead. Willy and Co. have to strike first, harrass the Montreal QB(s) and shut down the Al's running game. -

The Eskimo defence looked very, very good last night but Burris looked like he was way past his "best before" date. Wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench to start the next game. However, his receivers sure as spit didn't help him out much- several dropped balls which could have changed the game around. -

There ought to be no surprises for either team. Montreal and the Bombers both know that if Willy gets hammered a few times and/or harrassed, the Als will win. The same is true for Montreal's QB- give him time and he looks to be able to pick the Bomber secondary apart. I thought the Bomber secondary would be the Bomber strength, but it has proven to be one its weakest points. So, run the fourletterwording ball! -

That may be a helluva epitaph for Willy and O'Shea. -
Again, I think there is a really good reason, and that's that it's going to take time for this defense to come together, and with the new rules in place, it's effecting a lot of teams. I just wanna see baby steps forward and am not expecting monumental things until Labour Day. I am fully willing to be patient with this defense as long as they show even a modicum of improvement from week to week.I think Labour Day will be too late to assess this edition of the Bombers. Last year, we knew by mid-August that the players would be booking flights home in October.

He wouldn't even have been allowed out into the tunnel to stand there and watch the game if there had been any doubt. I suspect that he shouldn't have watched the debacle that was last Thursday's game for fear of emotional trauma plus nausea. -

Having worked as an EMT for a few years, the default assumption is that if there is any doubt, the event is to be treated as a concussion until assessed by a doctor otherwise. No doubt that will be the Bomber's position as well, and with this huge lawsuit in progress, I cannot see Willy being allowed to practice, let alone play if there is any doubt. -
Knowing Kevin Glenn, I have absolutely no faith that we actually win in 2007 with him at the helm. Revisionist history. I remember the 2007 season clearly, and if Glenn doesn't have his arm broken, we kill the Riders with our defense alone. Hell, they came within 4 points of winning the damn thing with Dinwiddie, and that included an "interception" that actually skipped off the turf and wasn't overturned because no replay yet... [/quote Could have .. should have .. would have .. doesn't matter. "Close" only counts with horseshoes and hand grenades. And nuclear warfare.

The Bombers will have no excuse if they lose this one. They were humiliated in their own stadium last game, they ought to be as healthy as all getout, the coaches have had time to compensate for the blitzes, and Montreal has a lot of key injuries. If the Bombers lose, it will be bad news for morale, and if they are soundly beaten again, all sorts of alarms bells should be going off.
