  1. That O'Shea could not see that or perhaps chose not to intervene is worrisome. O'Shea ought to have had enough experience to know the Etch's "system" was deeply flawed from day one.
  2. So Rod will have to learn to say "Je t'aime" now?
  3. Sanity from DesJardins- who'da thunk?
  4. This. KJ could read a defense really well, hence why we think he's got what it takes to be a good coach. I think he just needs a lot more experience under his belt. Head coach, probably, but offensive coach not.
  5. For all those still foaming at the mouth at the prospect of a Greg Marshall defence: a) it ain't gonna happen, so get over it and even if it did, could it have been as bad or worse than this year?
  6. They also worked together at Cal too. I think Tedford & Cortez had a falling out. He either left or was fired by Tedford. I don't think it ended nicely. Yeah that still is interesting. Cortez 'left to pursue an NFL job' and wound up taking the Riders OL Coach vacancy. Cal went through a few OCs during that time period. It's a tough gig to try and stay on top of a Power 5 conference. Why didn't you bring this up today? There are some things that I just can't remember at my old age, Kent. Me too- like the 60's,70's and 80's......
  7. I wonder who is present at the interviews?Mike O'Shea is present. Is that it? Who else needs to be there? No one. O'Shea will have to answer for the coaches under him and therefore ought to have the final say.
  8. Indeed O'Shea's comments during the Etcheverry departure news conf suggest Drew Willy will be on a short leash.Huh? I assume you're joking.Me too.. I have a very hard time believing that we are even remotely considering moving on from Willy or short leashing the guy.. And the fact that I watched the entire press conference and O'Shea didn't allude to Willy being on a short leash at all. What O'Shea said between 5 mins 30 and 6 mins 20 in that news conf is hardly a ringing endorsement of Bellefueille or Drew Willy. And it shouldn't be. Professional sports are about performance- produce or you are gone and how well every member of the Bombers does next year will have a direct bearing on whether O'Shea continues as head coach. O'Shea does not have a thick portfolio of success as a head coach and cannot write 2015 off as one bad year which should be discounted if it comes to that. Willy did very well for the first half of the season but he tailed off badly for one reason or another and Brohm and Marve showed well. This ought to be a clear signal to the troops that every man of them will have to earn his place on the roster and work to keep it.
  9. Plus he's much closer to the end of his career than the beginning.
  10. Aaah. This brings a tear to my eye. Now I have to go pee.
  11. This thread is a macguffin.
  12. I think the real question here is... who in their right mind is up at 4:16 am?!?!I'm in Punta Cana right now so it was actually at 6:16am Up at 6:16am on vacation in a warm and sunny destination with your electronic internet device, posting on a message board. Your priorities are clearly different than mine. Get out there and enjoy, dude. You only live once. Well, maybe not....
  13. Claybrooks biggest asset might be that he could make toe jam out of anyone who ticks him off.
  14. Has anyone heard about Brohms thumb? Yeah, I know this one. Brohm's thumb walks into a bar and... No. No. No. It goes: a horse walks into a bar and the bartender says,"Why the long face?"
  15. Bellefeuille deserves a season with a decent O-line, a couple of healthy competitive wide receivers, an aggressive running game and a vertical quarterback. I'm not sure anyone could have done any better with that mess of an offence last season.
  16. Who said anything about Claybrooks?!?!? Talk about pulling a name out of nowhere. Claybrooks has been mentioned on this forum several times, often facetiously, however.
  17. Nowhere near enough credit for a guy like Bucknor ... he played great for us last year. Great? No let's not get delusional here. He was adequate. You bring the guy back for sure but let's not pretend the team wouldn't have continued along just fine without him. For a Canadian on the corner, he was great. Would we be worse off if he left? Yes. That statement is skewing your perception. Just because it's a low bar doesn't mean his play was great. He didn't **** up too badly that's all you really need out of the guy but I would suggest that if he leaves you just play an american in that position and actually improve your secondary overover all. Can likely find a way to replace the NI somewhere else. Maybe a linebacker position, maybe find a DL, maybe they even go with 3 receivers, or 4 OL.He's a useful player to have but he wasn't great. Starting Canadian corner who didn't embarrass himself continually and you don't see that as a great signing? At the very least, he gets bumped to 5th DB/STer/excellent backup... I'm confused as to why this irks you so.. He proved more then capable last season in a wonky defense.. Imma chalk it up to being argumentative simply to be argumentative because you had so much etch defense left to use and can't now lol my issue is with the unwarranted superlatives being tossed about Indeed. Overstating things is the number 1 problem. Everybody does this all the time about everything.
  18. Welcome aboard. And don't take anyone or anything here seriously.
  19. Who do you replace him with? Gary Crowton. Sweet Jesus, no. Now you've ruined my afternoon nap.
  20. On 1290 radio this afternoon, it was stated that Etchverry was a mentor to O'Shea and O'Shea said that he tried to get Etcheverry to change certain things about the defence but Etchverry was resistant to changes unless ordered to make them, and that was the point of separation between them. As far as a replacement, Claybrooks and others may be promising but it seems to me that an experienced DC like Richie Hall or Mike Benevides would be better choices- particularly Hall if he becomes available.
  21. The information has been provided for Bomber fans….how you choose to assess it is up to you. At least bearpants got it right. The "Ho hum" was in response to the pronouncements about drafting good NI's and beating the bushes for good Import players- pretty cliche. The blog does reinforce my sense of O'Shea's character and I still think he's the best man for the job, providing he learns as he goes.
  22. Its never a pleasant thing to wish for and have someone fired but this was necessary- like pulling a rotten tooth. I do feel for Etch- this was both obviously coming and it couldn't have been fun for Etch to wait by the phone knowing what it would bring. But its done and time to move on.
  23. Another merit badge for Walters. We need all the good starting NIs we can get.
  24. He'll be back. Not much of a market for skinny white guys in the NFL, even if they have famous names. He will be appreciated here, like Darren Flutie.
