  1. If the team plays as well today as it did against the Stamps, we have a good shot at winning. Getting into the playoffs is another kettle of fish altogether.
  2. The fat lady has not only sung, she's gone home and is in her jammies.
  3. I don't think we were looking for all-star status, just a good solid lineman like Chris Greaves. All we can do is wait until next year and hope this was just a bad year for him (and the team).
  4. Um...wait a second.....wait....um.......I got nothing.
  5. But, but...we have been told repeatedly that the run game is just not important any more. What's a girl to think?
  6. Neufeld is not likely to get us to forget Walby, but he had the right passport and CFL experience. The ripple effect of losing a starting Canuck went right down the line and probably changed the whole game plan with all the juggling. It sure didn't help when every import O-lineman who stepped in was inept.
  7. It is sounding more and more like the opinions of many on this board that Mack was an arrogant, bull-headed individual who saw himself as being able to almost singlehandedly rebuild the Bombers using scouting and his own infallibility in drafting. LaPolice had his failings as well, but Mack and those who hired him are largely responsible for the mess. .
  8. Only if you bring donuts.
  9. That says everything you need to know about how teams feel about the Riders without Durant "we can beat them with our backups" Cornish is just that real good mix of speed and power. He's big and strong and has good enough balance he can run through tackles but he's also fast enough to break some big runs if he gets a hole. If you can draw up the kind of running back every team wants to have that's the guy there. The fact he is Canadian is such a bonus as well..He's 30 years old though. Only has a year or so left before he falls off a cliff and is out of the league. Signs of him already falling apart. That's an incredibly bold prediction. I bet he plays until he's 33 at least. There's always exceptions but age 30 is the magic number when most RBs fall off a cliff. He should extend his career by moving to Manitoba where there are not too many cliffs to fall off. And an added bonus: we only try to run the ball 5 or 6 times per game. Saves a lot of wear and tear on the old bod, specially when the running back is grabbed in the backfield before he builds up momentum which usually makes for a more violent collision. We're good to our backs that way.
  10. I wouldn't bet that Durant will be back this season at all. Hinge injuries are notoriously unpredictable in healing and we don't know the extent of the injury, so who knows?
  11. Great! And long overdue.
  12. I had a girlfriend once who was inscrutable.
  13. Apparently Neufeld injured his calf muscle at practice yesterday and is once again (still?) injured and unlikely to play this weekend. We gotta start getting warranties with players we trade for. This is getting ridiculous.
  14. There are connections that go beyond now, and you all may be living one. Enjoy.
  15. All things being equal, a CFL starter ought to win a Grey Cup every eight or nine years, so Allen won them at a pretty good clip. I'm trying to think of guys who did better in Grey Cups than Allen: Moon, obviously, went 5-0 in Grey Cups over six seasons, though he didn't start in two of those wins. Flutie was 3-1 in eight seasons. Ray has gone 3-0 in twelve seasons, not counting 2014. Calvillo was 3-5 in twenty seasons. McManus was 3-2 in seventeen seasons, but had only garbage time in the 1990 win and came off the bench for the 1994 win. He played a hell of a game in the '96 loss though. I think I agree with the people who are saying that Damon Allen that he was a B+ QB with an A+ career. But if I had to choose a starter for a Grey Cup game, it'd be a tough call between him, Ray, Flutie, or Moon. And Moon and Flutie had stacked teams for their wins. Allen won the Grey Cup with good teams, but never dominating ones. great analysis, well done and thanks. I can't say if Flutie was better, or Moon, but the first time I saw Flutie, at the old stadium, I thought right away, best player in the history of the CFL. There was a good "A football life" show done on Doug Flutie last night, on NFL network. Well worth it if you are/were a fan. Comparing Moon and Flutie is like comparing apples and oranges- Flutie had the intelligence, instincts and drive, and Moon had the pure physical presence. I still remember Moon shaking off tackles when they had him dead to rights. Possibly the best athlete every to play in the CFL.
  16. I would bet that almost every running back in the league is somewhat banged up at this point, and the Stamps have first place pretty much sewn up, so why not give Cornish some downtime to heal?
  17. O'Shea and probably Bellefeuille deserve a Mulligan this year. Etch, not so sure about.
  18. Can't blame the Rider brain trust- you can't drain a swamp when you're up to your butt in imaginary alligators.
  19. But they did want a stadium representative of Regina, didn't they?
  20. This is all in fun. Its not as if we're accusing them of doing terrible things to small animals. It's just that they're a bunch of mouth-breathers with poor judgement about where to live.
  21. I agree 4 cranes ? Come on ........ Yup, especially since all the cranes in Sask have flown south some time ago.
  22. I believe this was done by the same studio which faked the moon landings.
  23. We had Elliot who became frustrated and tried to win games by forcing the ball into double and triple coverage, usually with disastrous results. Willy seems to be trying to do the same thing, but by waiting for a receiver to get open and knowing he is going to get hit. The problem is that he's been hit so often and so hard that he is probably suffering from PTSD by now. Part of his maturation has to be to know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em.
  24. I'll be waiting outside the store with my gold pellet paint ball gun. Hey, might improve it lol.. So note to self, wear hockey equipment and welders mask on day of purchase.. And a cup. Really, always wear a cup. It's just smart. When hockey equipment is on... So is a cup.. Catching a 80 kph wrister to the nether regions sans cup is not a fun time in my books.. Once you have kids it's best you just wear the thing all the time. I got a lil-un (2 year old daughter) so the day is coming soon when baseball bats, soccer balls, etc etc take me out for a series or two... Joy. A two-year old is a mixture of joy and frustration, so enjoy- that time is all too short. BTW, daughters are God's punishment to guys for being male. Definitely more joy then frustration at this point.. Me and wifey have been blessed to say the least.. And yea I keep hearing that lol.. Good thing I'm a big guy and she's gonna be a tall chick.. Minus the bullying she will most likely face, most guys will be intimidated by her lol.. (She's the average height of a 4 yr old and just turned 2 ) My daughter is almost 5"10" and loves being tall-(her mom was almost 6"0") and we are the best of friends. I wish that for you also.
