  1. And maybe Doug Berry for assistant HC- then we would have a hat trick of disgraced head coaches. Seriously, Reed set new records for dickishness in his days as Edmonton HC.
  2. Maybe we could trade Tyson Pencer to move up one spot.
  3. Listened to the post-game interview of O'Shea on CJOB. O'Shea was trying very hard to be upbeat but sounded defeated- much like LaPolice and Burke when things were becoming dire and they realized that there was to be no quick fix and they were going to be hanged. I'm sure that it is not coming to that for O'Shea, but it think he has realized that enthusiasm can substitute for talent and effort for only so long. O'Shea is looking at ending the season with another three losses and one win in three months. Not a good thing to carry over the next 8 months.
  4. If O'Shea has a shred of compassion or intelligence, Willy's season is over.
  5. Wild looked like he hasn't lost a beat- one of two in the front seven worth keeping, but Leggett was invisible for the most part and so was Kromah. I can't imagine the O-line being worse for putting Hinse, Swystun and/or Goossen in. Cotton ran with some determination and was certainly no worse than Grigsby, although the run blocking was pretty much as pathetic. Willy needs to sit out- he looks shell-shocked and he must be afraid to wake up in the mornings. It was garbage time, but Brohm looked decent. The D-line was, well, the D-line- same old, same old with Peach, a journeyman player looking the best of the sad lot. Why did we bring Vega back? Anyone? Thought so. The real concern is whether Etcheverry is worth keeping and if Bellefeuille could do better with better talent.
  6. There are a lot of people to hang this mess on- the OC and DC as well as the person who hired them, the import O-linemen, the nonexistent pass rush, and the lack of talent on this team. Walters and his scouts can be forgiven for the razor-thin Canuck talent, but our imports have really let us down overall, and the worst thing of all- most of the team didn't bother to show up today. Grigsby and Kuale have taken to snarky tweets and should be sacked immediately or as soon as possible.
  7. Sunseri seems to have absolutely ZERO spidey-sense as to when to run, duck or toss. Crompton has problems with his game but confidence in his arm ain't one of 'em.
  8. How soon Joseph comes into the game will give a good indication of hoe damaged and desperate the Riders are. I'm betting half-time.
  9. I am expecting a nasty game if the Bombers are going to try to put in a good showing this afternoon. As much as it pains me to admit it, the Esks are a better team and have proven it. The defence is going to have to play one of their best games and the offense is going to have to play even better. We're going to find out which players are keepers and which ones need to be turfed as soon as possible. My respect for O'Shea will go up if he doesn't let Willy get pounded endlessly if the game is out of hand or if Willy is not being effective.
  10. I hereby formally retract my previous statement. Heckuva game, no matter who won-classic CFL game at last.
  11. Looks I'm going to have to eat my prediction about Toronto winning tonight. The Hamsters are winning convincingly and big.
  12. Its gotta be Rick Ray and company. Ray alone makes the difference and Chad Owens is the best. No contest.
  13. The film clips were highlights of course so, they're pretty selective but as near as I could tell, he seems to have good speed and quickness as well as good instincts, but it was difficult to tell how good he is/was at shedding blocks. He's young enough that he ought to be able to adapt to the CFL game.
  14. I am now starting to have some uneasy feelings about the judgement of the coaches. In the past few weeks, Kelly has not been spectacular but apart from Denmark, he has been one of the few contributors to the offense. Romby may or may not be faster than Kelly, but he has contributed close to sweet bugger-all. I cannot understand this at all.
  15. Maybe his subconscious was telling him to STFU.
  16. Given how much emphasis O'Shea places on being game-ready, I suspect he would have taken a very dim view of a player showing up on game day after being out all night drinking a Red Bull and munching on a Mars Bar with a cigarette dangling out of his mouth. On the other hand, if he was able to get Roberts to buy in, it probably would have extended Roberts' career and made him even more of a legend.
  17. Sounds like a fringe player, maybe best suited to OLB but too bad he's a Scientologist. The part about taking dumb penalties is a concern- we've got one too many of those already.
  18. He's afraid to practice against our OL...yep that'd do it... I've noticed that other teams' defensive linemen are so fearful of our O-linemen that they get past them as quickly as possible- very quickly, in fact.
  19. I really like what Watson brings to the team but he really should take up a sport he is more suited to, like whiffle-ball or tiddly-winks.
  20. Agreed. A few years ago (actually a lot of years) I happened to be sitting beside Earl Lunsford on a flight from Calgary to Winnipeg and when he wasn't schmoozing with the flight crew, we had a chance to talk. He said that from the hand-off to the first three yards past the line of scrimmage was all the O-line's responsibility, and after that it was the receivers blocking and the running back's ability. If you accept that as gospel, its not hard to see who should be hanged in the off season.
  21. The only way the Bombers are going to get a crossover is to buy an SUV at an auto dealer.
  22. Welcome aboard. We are in a bit of a tailspin right now and some of us are having flashbacks to last season. However, we will have seven months to detox.
  23. But...but..but...the running game is just fine. Just matter of execution we are told. Seriously, though- I have not been a fan of Grigsby for a couple of months now but he probably never got much of a chance behind that atrocious O-line to show his stuff so I don't know if Cotton or McGuffie are going to do any better.
  24. Lapo's offence was the same sort of meat grinder on qb's that MB is running, both work better with a qb who is actually a threat to run. In the CFL any quarterback who has the ability to take off or scramble when the moment is right instantly makes his team much better. There are not that many Kent Austins who can make it as a pure pocket passer.
  25. No. It's just.....you.
