  1. I'm not sure about Moseley, but the other two d-linemen recently signed are defensive ends and it seems to me that our problems on our line are in the middle, not the ends. I wonder what the thinking is behind these signings.
  2. You realize he WAS in the CFL, right? He made his name up here.. Now that you mention it, yes I recall, but he still seems the perfect sort of back to carve out a hall of fame career here rather than be another mediocre back in the NFL. Maybe we will still see him in River City.
  3. Thigpen's bio makes him look like a good fit for the CFL- he was 193lb but is probably a bit heavier now. 2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report: Marcus Thigpen, RB, IndianaMarcus Thigpen, who is also a sprinter for the Hoosier track team, isn't one of the elite backs in the country. He is however, always a threat to score every time he touches the ball. Thigpen averaged 6.7 yards per carry this season, even though he only averaged just under 8 carries a game. He also averaged 18.1 yards per reception and 22.4 yards per kick return, further illustrating his game breaking speed. Thigpen played running back in high school and was moved to wide receiver for his freshman season, after red-shirting in 2004. He was moved back to running back during the spring of 2006, and has been Indiana's starter ever since. His experience at receiver has made him a valuable asset in the Hoosier passing attack. He serves as the safety valve for quarterback Kellen Lewis, and has taken several of those check down passes for huge gains. Thigpen has recorded 1621 yards rushing for his career, and scored 9 touchdowns on the ground. He has also caught 84 passes for 1028 yards and scored 9 touchdowns through the air. At 5'9" and only 193 pounds, Thigpen isn't big enough to be an every down back at the next level. However, his big play ability gives him a good chance of making a team as a return man and a third or fourth option in the backfield. Thigpen has averaged over 20 yards per return each of his four seasons, including a national best 30.1 average during the 2006 season. His 3 kick return touchdowns also led the nation in 2006. Thigpen is a late round prospect who should expect to hear his name between the late fifth and late sixth rounds. Marcus Thigpen's Pro Day workout may have shot him into the mid fifth round range for a team looking for a return man. He ran a 4.47 second 40 yard dash, had a 35 inch vertical leap, and broad jumped 10 feet 6 inches. Last Updated Apr-17-2009 by Randall Weida
  4. I haven't seen a Western team, that we've played, that we can't beat. But haven't.
  5. With Moore down hard and neither Romby or Aaron stepped forward to be the go-to guy, we really need a someone with Matthews' talents- he could be the difference between making the playoffs and not.
  6. I wouldn't hold my breath on anything changing. I can see us going 2 - 6 down the stretch mostly due to other teams have figured out our weakness. You're pretty much on the money. If we TKO Sask'n this weekend that all changes but if we succumb to the riders for the 3rd time this year I can only see 2 more wins down the stretch --- thus 8-10 looms and I don't think that will get us 4th in west and the crossover. Unless BC collapses and goes 7-11 with Lulay still not right and Glenn having problems. Must say I love how O'Shea protects his players.... almost indifferent to their weaknesses. At least in public. If he's like that behind closed doors we got problems! We are going to be in tough this weekend because we've lost a couple of key pieces: Wild and Moore, and it looks like Sask will be in good shape. What is going to stop a replay? The additions of Romby Bryant and Kuale?
  7. This sort of thing is what got a good coach (Dave Ritchie) fired.
  8. Wait, you mean we're not getting Jamaal Charles then!?!?! Damn you magic 8 ball!! And we were soooo close.
  9. Gotta agree with that. Whether it's putting Bolton in as the extra RB or McGuffie in as a receiver, It's time these guys got a chance otherwise what's the point in keeping them around. They have been here a while now. Let's see what they got. Anyone go to Practice? How do Bolton and McGuffie look out there? Like they belong or ?? Probably tough to tell with them on the practice squad but still... Effort there? Getting better every day? Romby has played in about half the games this year with nothing to show. I've seen enough. Sad to say, it look like Romby will be here for the duration.
  10. Oh well, easy come...
  11. Luckily Toronto is so big that they only have to find a small percentage of rubes to make a go of it. And they haven't even been able to do that. I have to think that if they can get into a smaller, outdoor stadium somewhere fun for people to go to, they can be just as well off as any other eastern team. Not like that's a high bar anyways. The best answer for the Argonauts would be a smaller stadium designed around football and soccer teams- they're just lost in the Skydome. When the Alouettes returned to Montreal, one of the smartest moves they made was to avoid the Big Owe and over to McGill. That sort of thing ought to work in Toronto with a decent team and a bit of marketing.
  12. It is starting to look like 8&10 will be the likely record at the end of the season, and that means 2&6 for the rest of the year, so we'd better lower our rosy expectations of a month ago. Our weaknesses on offense and defence has been exposed and with the exception of Campbell in Ottawa, the opposing coaches are bright enough to take advantage of them. So, from here on in, there will be a lot of grumbling and complaining but we need to hope that O'Shea learns from his boo-boos and the talent on this team will continue to be upgraded.
  13. What exactly do you want him to say? Whomever plays has to step up and make plays it is really that simple but you can't expect a coach to throw his players under the bus. I would prefer some honesty from O'Shea and have him say that the running game and run defence both are sub-par and need to get better. Pretending that all is well when pretty much everyone sees the problems is an insult to the fans. He doesn't have to throw players under the bus by naming names unless all else fails, but candor would be appreciated by fans and media- we've been fed enough BS by previous regimes.
  14. Great. Now we have zombies in the CFL. Inevitable, I suppose.
  15. Thaddeus Gibson 6'2, 243 pounds | Outside linebacker | Ohio State Strengths: Has very good quickness off the snap. Builds on his quickness around the edge and is a dangerous closer. Gets really low on his pass rush to move under the tackle. Works really well to the inside on stunts because of his athleticism. Can start and stop on a dime. Makes a lot of plays in the backfield. Good tackler. He's not the biggest player, but he's stronger than his size suggests. He has enough power to hold his spot on the line. Weaknesses: Will need to shift from college defensive end to pro outside linebacker. Even though he started his college career at linebacker, there may be some period of adjustment, particularly in his technique. Has already put 35 pounds onto his frame since starting college and may be maxed out. Shows some poor run recognition skills and at times looks uninterested. Bites a lot on misdirection. may struggle to learn a playbook – needed a teammate to move him to the correct gap too often. Final word: Gibson was a surprise early entrant in the draft. At this point in his development, he may purely be a pass rusher. He struggles reading run keys and is an unknown in pass coverage. He's almost exclusively a 3-4 linebacker and will need to be coached up. Translation: athletic but dumb.
  16. Now we are getting a clear idea of the backup talent level.
  17. Somehow, I can't see Kuale and Kromah better in any way than Wild and Kromah. Looks like its going to be a long game for the run-stoppers and the Sask O-linemen and their running backs have to be drooling. But Coach O'Shea says that he's not concerned......
  18. O'Shea should be upset. No, he ought to be mad as hell- Wild was held and while he was held, Allen put a helmet into Wild as Allen went by. Sask got a TD and took the Bombers' best defender out at the same time.
  19. yeah, he was probably chipping for awhile, and now we have an explanation how another talented player could flop so badly. If your bringing your works into the locker room, you're pretty far down the road.
  20. The Coaches' show is so full of commercials and barely intelligible callers that its not worth listening for two minutes' worth of whatever coach is there mumbling about players giving it their all and needing just a bit more focus. The only call-in show I can remember that was interesting was one where Reinbold was holding court near the end of his reign of error and all the calls coming in were real softballs until one caller was let in. He was knowledgeable and very pointed in taking a strip off the hapless Reinbold and Reinbold was completely flustered and nothing had but a couple of platitudes.
  21. Using coke in crack form is about as hardcore as it gets, followed by mainlining. And yup, very expensive- the late Robin Williams had his struggle with the stuff and said, "Cocaine is nature's way of telling you that you have too much money." Cocaine users get to go to Hell before they die. Its that corrosive to life.
  22. I guess the price of nose candy is high. Too bad for the young man, but this sort of habit could have definitely affected his on-field performance. I hope he uses this wakeup call to turn his life around.
  23. I'm betting the number will be zero or so close to zero as to be indistinguishable from zero. What you see is what we got for the rest of the season.
  24. If we made Messam and Anthony look good, I'm scared to think what Cornish could do to us.
