O'Shea vs. Austin - Loose Cannon Contest
Tracker replied to Pete Catan's Ghost's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Time for turd polishing! -
If we made Messam and Anthony look good, I'm scared to think what Cornish could do to us.

Despite settling for the third or maybe fourth quarterback option in the off-season, we just might have the next Ricky Ray in our fold. Now to figure out how to keep him from getting seriously killed behind that O-line. -
I am still an O'Shea supporter, but it would be encouraging for him to state publicly that a) our run defence is inadequate when it matters and we can't run the ball worth poop when it counts and further, that he and Walters are going to make some changes. O'Shea is a player's coach, I understand that, but it is close to insulting the fans for him to pretend that it will take just a couple of coaching sessions to correct these issues. This season is not about making a run for the cup, it is about improvement, and we have suffered long enough with comfortable mediocrity from the team.

Look at it this way: we have the luxury of time and endless replays and we cannot agree on the call, so how can we expect the replay staff who are under pressure to make the call in a couple of minutes to make an unquestionably correct call? I still hold to the opinion (and its just an opinion and not definitive) that we got scrooged on that call.

Seriously I thought all free perks had to count against the cap. Wouldn't it be easy to provide use of a house and car to a player and not have it count otherwise? Sask has been doing that sort of thing for years. -
Ottawa officially in freefall.

The last three minutes of the game yesterday offer proof that it is one of the issues. Couldn't stop the Riders when it counted, just like the last game, and there's no reason to believe the next game is going to be different. Same ingredients, same outcome.

We're going to be in trouble next weekend anyways. The deficiencies in this year's team have not changed since day one: the O-line, a smallish front seven that gets pushed around, a lousy running game, and (arguably) average import receivers. I don't see that changing this season but we'll probably make the playoffs due to such a pathetic eastern division. We aren't going to scare anyone in the western division- or Toronto for that matter. -
we see it different. The defender did not turn his head at all. It was pi no question. Screening, illegal contact take your pick. But that didn't lose us the game. The defender in question definitely made contact with his body before the ball arrived, and that's pass interference in any book. On the rider's last TD run, Wild was held, and Brackenridge was also way offside in that other critical play. The Riders may have gotten some bum calls but it sure seems to me that we got ours at game-changing moments.

Kuale's stats (or lack thereof) speak for themselves. He made one good play, crowed about it, and got buried the next running play. If he's the best we have at MLB, we're boned. O'Shea probably he had a redo on some of the playcalls, but 20-20 hindsight is always perfect, right? He's a rookie head coach and we're going to have to suffer through some of this. Next year will be better- we will have better horses and likely better coaching. Suck it up folks.

So close and yet so far...

Durant is supposed to not be 100%, and even when he was, he barely squeaked out a win because the Bombers gave the game away with all the turnovers. Frommy understanding,NFL camps are real grinders, and maybe that plus a long flight might make Dressler less effective than he was. I hope.

Lets all hope for a good competitive game with no serious injuries and a minimum of penalties- especially ones which decide the game.

NFL update on players potentially of Bomber interest
Tracker replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
What??? Meant to say "there". Typo on my part. Flames own the Stamps & President Brian Burke's son was gay. Burke is now a huge proponent of welcoming gay players into both hockey dressing rooms & football locker rooms. Cornish mother's a lesbian. He was very vocal in his support of Michael Sam coming out just before the NFL Draft. Of all CFL teams THEY (Stamps) would probably be the most welcoming. Hopefully my post makes sense now. It seems kind of sad to me that this discussion is even happening in this day and age We live in a world which still has a Flat Earth Society and creationists, so...... -
Turf toe. Toe-main poisoning?

Matthews would be a luxury. We don't need him. You may change your mind after this weekend and next.
-
And you can bet they will be building shrines to Dressler as we speak.

I expect Messam to be used to either run or threaten to run which will hold our linebackers close to the line. That will allow Sask's hot routes against our linebackers which are now suspect with Kuale. Our D-line has to clog up the middle and allow the linebackers to drop back- that will force Durant to try to go long, and if his hand is not 100%, the advantage will be ours. I don't see our blitzing being effective. On offense, we have to neutralize Chick (big surprise there) and being as how we can't run worth poop, Grigsby will have to earn his keep as a receiver and we might have to use the six-pack receiver set. If the running game actually works, it would be a tremendous advantage with Grigsby optioning out as a possible receiver. Grigsby has to block better than he has. If Moore is healthy enough to stretch the defence, it will open things up for Denmark, Kohlert et al. Our kicking and return game is better than Sask's and if that provides a 6 point return, that may be the difference. I don't think Sask overall is as strong as last year, and we are a heck of a lot better. If can beat them today, we ought to have a good chance of beating them in the Banjo Bowl as well.

I'm underwhelmed with who we have now. Bring him in, if only to inspire the incumbents, and if they need someone to push them before they start performing, they ought to be gone anyways.

Forget Dressler, Chris Williams was cut ...

Considering Desjardins' football IQ, a squirrel would probably do the same thing. -
Isn't he the buddy of Linus and Charlie Brown?
-
Hinse has yet to start and seems to be behind Goosen already so that tells us something. Jarvis Jones is a known commodity and this is a good opportunity for him to show that he belongs. Going to be a tough game on the O-line regardless so I don't thing anyone of them is going to come out of the LDC looking great. Wylie's got his hands full. I just hope he's learned his lesson and will double-team Chick. And that Grigsby shows up. This sounds perverted.......i like it No, you can't get in on it, even if you bring party favours.

Not really. We gave up about 2 yards a carry without Kuale last week, even with Montreal trying to establish the run to help their QB's early. They ran at will vs Ottawa last night. Pretty clear who/what is getting picked on by opposing teams. Of course that be attributed to other corrections as well, but I'm not going to do a blocking job for Kuale because frankly, I'm not a fan. I'm still saying it's selective stats because they're after the fact, before corrections were made, and don't allow for proper game planning. But I do agree teams will target areas, as well as players. True, but the biggest difference is not having one MLB completely out of the play most of the time, usually because he's over pursuing. I appreciate Kuale's effort, his intelligence not as much. I'd love him as a rush end. Tackles are a horrible stat to judge LB's, but Kuale has 19 in 8 games. That's a joke. Like if an OL came up to the bench press at the combine and did 2 reps. That number of tackles takes Ian Wild 2 games to accumulate. Wild had 18 tackles in the last game alone. I'm not sure how many Kromah had, but he was way more noticeable than Kuale ever was and if we get run over by Messam and whomever the Roughies use on Sunday, I am going to be really ticked and will start to question the collective wisdom of the coaches.
