I sure hope the Bombers paid attention to the Calgary-Montreal game. Hamilton, Toronto and now even Montreal are playing much better.
-
Maybe the Ottawa team ought to shorten their name to the RB's- it might even get them sponsorship from a fast-food chain.
-
I was afraid this game was going to be a snooze-fest, but at least the teams have made it into the end zones.

Ya gotta get people away from Rod Black as much as possible.

Argos @ Leos - GDT - Burke's D vs Glenn

For a 29-30 year old QB? Don't see it. Yeah. Willy will be a solid starter but Ricky Ray? C'mon man! Absolutely. Willy has the command presence, the good mechanics and the ability to read defenses and react. All he needs is good QB coaching and experience- lets have this conversation next year at this time. -

Williams absolutely should have been ejected from last night's game, and ought to be fined and maybe even suspended for that deliberate intent to injure. It was completely dangerous. And yes, Willy may well be the heir to Ricky Ray as the best pure quarterback in the league. If he put on 10-15 pounds of muscle, he would have the NFL all over him in a year or two. -
I don't think we've been blown out. We've lost some games by lop-sided scores, but not like last year, which was a disaster from beginning to end. The only way people would have a right to be really let down this year would be if they had fantasies about how good the team was. We are still about six players away from being competitive, and there will be no help for that this year. We are pretty much guaranteed a win in Ottawa but a win against Hamilton is going to have to be fought hard for. If we lose against Hamilton, even beating Ottawa becomes iffy and its all downhill from there.

We don't play Toronto any more so that doesn't matter and the Hamilton game is a home game for the Bombers right? That's a plus there. Unfortunately, home field has not proven to be any advantage this year, so there goes that theory.
-
Bad news for our side- both Toronto and Hamilton seem to be on the upswing.

The BC loss can't be hung completely on Glenn- the BC defence took the night off and Ray was very good. BC got behind early and that took the running game right off the table, allowing the defence to key on pressure and defending the pass. -
Walters is a victim of his own success- he started out so well but seems to have been firing blanks lately. If the player we traded Suber for cannot report, surely we must have some recourse. We are going to be going through some trying times for the next couple of months, and it would be nice to have reason for optimism.

Nice to see offense in the CFL again and running backs who run straight ahead. Rather unsporting of the Toronto defensive lineman to take the name of the monster in Lake Okanogan, though. -
It will be interesting to see if Calgary goes to sleep as they did against Toronto, but even if they did, Montreal does not have a Ricky Ray. Montreal is probably hooped, but stranger things have happened.

American tort law is quite different than Canada. People down there (and organizations) sue each other at the drop of the hat and often win bizarre awards by the courts. In Canada, there is the legal concept of "a reasonable person" as a determination of onus. If there is deliberate misrepresentation or knowing omission, that would be grounds for finding for the plaintiff, but that would have to be proven in a preponderance of evidence. Bruce would have to prove that the league knew or reasonably should have known by way of common knowledge that he should not have played under those circumstances. If a doctor determined from the available evidence that it was a reasonable decision to let Bruce play, then it lets the league off the hook. If the doctor made that decision in defiance of reasonable medical evidence and judgement, then the doctor may be culpable. In short, Bruce is not likely to win even if the court agrees to hear the case. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Free Press (Fan Vote) Picking All-Time Blue Bomber Greats
Tracker replied to comedygeek's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It has to be Ploen. If memory serves, he even played as a defensive back and did very well at that. Just icing on the cake if it is so. -
If the stars align, we will finish the season 9 and 9, if we run into the same old, we will be 6 and 12, and that is still way better than last year, even though we will miss the playoffs again along with Montreal and Ottawa. Pretty poor company to be in, but there we are. Some of the problems that have plagued the team for years have been addressed, but Walters, McManus and the scouts is going to have to be very busy in the off-season. It would be encouraging to have at least one stud import O-lineman, linebacker or receiver arrive before the end of the season to give us hope that things are on the upswing.

I disagree. There's huge value in keeping a defense off balance and guessing. A few passes per game to Fitzgerald, and a few runs up the middle for Pontbriand would help do that. I never said replace Watson with Fitzgerald in the slot. Keeping a defence off balance is critical- for the past few years, our offense was utterly predictable and we were screwed by the third quarter. The only hitch might be that out talent level might nor be good enough as yet to run that sort of thing consistently.

Morley has been at the very least, solid at center. January has been very good but seems to be a good deal worse this year than last and is probably going to be worse next year. Greaves has been good and solid, and our other two imports have been sub-par. Neufeld has been hurt so often that its hard to judge him, and I keep getting the feeling he doesn't want to be here. Goossen is a mystery to me- is he that fragile or are they easing him in? The times I have seen him in action (which hasn't been very often) he was good when not confused. I can't help thinking Walters and Co. should be able to track down some better linemen than Knapp and Jones and Howard.

The Remaining Schedule: One Perspective
Tracker replied to TrueBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
With all the other injuries and lacks on this team, Willy's return might make as little a difference as one more victory this year. What we are trying to avoid is a landslide of losses and attitudes like the previous couple of years. O'Shea's job is to make sure that every team we play has to work for any wins against us- no small task. -
No one here can remember, but welcome anyways. And don't mention the war. Which one? A "Fawlty Towers" reference.

Not per se, but I'm closely connected to the guys out in the fields. I help with making hay, vegetable harvest, yard work, etc. And also play pac man at the same time . Like I believe this- most Saskatchewanites haven't evolved opposable thumbs as yet.
-
Yup- its an old truth in football- no pressure on opposing QB, no win, and if we can't do a lot better than we did against BC, we're the walking dead.
-
Can't compare temperate-climate construction to ours which has unique challenges in winter. No matter how much we slag the efforts to build new stadia in Hamilton, Ottawa and Regina, its all good for the league and the rivalries we all love to hate. According to TSN, there are two interested parties talking to Braley about buying the Argos- all we need there is a better venue for the team and the league is the healthiest ever.

Then why the **** did he go to Ottawa in the first place? And what makes him think that he can be a Grey Cup champion again (for only the 2nd time in a very long career) when he failed to accomplish anything in the playoffs so often throughout his career? Its called money, and everything is a gamble, right? Besides, all this might be nothing, but who wouldn't like his last hurrah to be in hot pursuit of a championship?
