  1. And a welcome to you Sammy.
  2. Edmonton looking very beatable in the early going. Burris doing a workmanlike job, and Wallace Miles also looking good.
  3. They ought to add the word "union" instead of "League" to complete the initials properly to "CNAFU". That ought to do it.
  4. Porous O-line, average import receivers, and no running game. Would this tend to limit the offensive options in play calling?
  5. Is this said tongue in cheek? I certainly hope Etch will use him at end and not slide him inside because he's too heavy for "his style" of end. If we get bilukidi and Mulumba our defensive line will get a huge boost We get these guys and we're pretty much guaranteed a playoff spot.
  6. The 2014 Bombers are not a 12&6 Grey Cup contending team but way better than the 2013 or 2012 editions. Still the discouragement comes from the fact that thecoaches had to know what Toronto was going to do in crunch time (run) but could do nothing to stop them. There are still the same problems that almost everyone saw coming out of training camp but a few fortunate wins masked them for awhile. Unless the problems with the import O-linemen, running game and undersized front seven, we will be in a slow downward spiral for the rest of the season.
  7. It was tough enough to watch the first time, so thanks for the offer and effort but that game was one I would like to forget.
  8. It's the root system. Weeds have roots that are thicker and more importantly grow deeper. People who water their lawns frequently create poor root systems for their grass. Less frequent waterings encourages the roots to grow deeper in search of moisture, and in times of low precipitation these lawns will be more durable than lawns that are overwatered. Over time a healthy lawn should overtake the weeds. So they say. In theory... Hell, in theory communism works lol Communism definitely works- check out any Hutterite colony. What you see in Russia and China is not and never was Communism, it was Marxism and even so wasn't what Marx had envisioned.
  9. True about the import receivers- Willy has shown himself to have a good arm and a great touch on the ball, but we need at least one game-beaker like Fred Stamps to get the coverage loosened up on all the short-route guys. This critical because we sure as heck don't have a running game worth talking about to stop opposing linebackers from dropping off the line of scrimmage.
  10. The first hands/face call on Howard was righteous, the second one- not so much. What irked me about Howard was watching Toronto's DE's speed right around him while he just stood there. I just don't think he's quick or physical enough.
  11. The uniforms look like someone ate a ton of jelly-beans and threw up all over the fabric
  12. There was an interesting comment made by the TSN's CFL reporter this afternoon on 1290 radio. He said he was sitting behind the Argo bench during the game and apparently Dwight Anderson came to the bench at the end of the third quarter and shouted to the Argo defence that "these guys (Bombers) have stopped trying to win, so let's go get them" or words to that effect. Obviously, the Argos saw that the Bombers had quit and took it to them in the fourth quarter, which is when the wheels fell off. He also said that the book on the Bombers is that they can't stop the run due to undersized D-linemen and linebackers, and the Bombers can't run and give up trying to run as soon as they get stopped, relying on the pass with the opposing team's linebackers dropping off into coverage and making life a lot easier for the DB's. He did have good things to say about Willy and even Grigsby.
  13. Very simple- their running game was better, their passing was better, their receivers were better, their D-line wore down our O-line, their O-line blew out our D-line, and we were out-coached. From the last game it was obvious that the Bombers were vulnerable to power running up the middle and short passing game and the Argos took advantage of it. The Bombers were unable to tackle well or adjust to what Toronto was doing. Two embarrassing losses in a row with a suspect defense and pop-gun offense.
  14. I'll be stunned, shocked and pissed if the BB don't come up with a much improved running game against the Argos. Hope Marcel had his thinking cap on this week. So now you are stunned, shocked and pissed. Not necessarily in that order.
  15. There's a funny quote from a comic book called "Groo", who is a demented Conan the Barbarian-type guy. One of his per statements is , "Nobody goes before Groo, and after Groo goes, nobody goes!" I'm not sure if he was referring to potty breaks, but it sort of fits here.
  16. Welcome aboard, Steve to our fractious membership.
  17. Our running game or lack thereof is problematic. Period. Whether its the line play, the quality of running backs or the play-calling, who knows? IMO if we had a solid running game against the Riders, we would have won.
  18. I stand by my statement that we have to have to have the game in the bag by halftime or we are likely to get burned by a couple of long plays in the last few minutes. No mercy or no win.
  19. That sounds promising....(place all the lols here) Interesting....now, if they only had two quarterbacks......
  20. No that's just some bullshit argument that people like to bring up. Grigsby has shown a great ability to run into tacklers and go down, hell the moment I was done with him as a runningback was on a play where he was down field running with the ball, had a blocker in front of him taking a defender out of the picture.... and he ran right into the back of his blocker. In my mind he doesn't have good enough instincts to be an effective runner unless the hole is big enough to drive a truck through. He's too slow to change direction, his acceleration isn't good enough and he lacks the natural ability to find space. That has nothing to do with the OL. I think Cotton was better in preseason and want to see him. It's less about being down on Grigsby as being higher on the other guy. Agreed. Its not just about raw ability, its about reading the blocking, smarts, and good old spidey-sense. If you look at kick returners, speed is a great asset, but knowing when to duck and when to make a cut is even better.
  21. Of all the woes the Alouettes have, their D-line and linebackers are the least. If the Bombers want to run a lot tonight, they are going to have to work for it. Maybe some screens and flare passes will soften the defense up.
  22. I'd say they are well past anything that was wrong with the Bombers last season. On behalf of the Alouettes, ouch. That was a low blow.
  23. I doubt if we're going to lose all that much. Our return game has been pretty mediocre at best so far this year, so if there are no fumbles, we'll be OK.
  24. Anyone can have a bad game, but the true test is the game after that. So far this edition of the Bombers has shown resiliency, but as someone said, there is only the next game, so we will have another measurement of our team tonight. Two clangers in a row would be very bad, but again, it is how much heart and effort is seen.
  25. The Gielberguys were the worst, but there was also Feterik, Skalbania, Ryckman and the list goes on....
