  1. Maybe somebody asked him for sex.
  2. I think its time to take the default position that Watson is on the DL and plan a future without him. He might be good trade bait for a team going into the playoffs and need a good NI receiver to play in the last game of the season.
  3. Calvillo among other CFL quarterbacks wasn't any speedster but managed to take off every now and then, even late into his career, to keep defenses off balance a bit. I believe it was last game against Montreal's pretty good D-line when Willy ran for a critical first down. Again, we don't want that as a first option on every play, but a couple of sprints by Willy, even for 4 or 5 yards, may have made a big difference against Edmonton. That. Or Willis may catch him in open field and "cleanly" smash him to bits. Or their new MLB.. Presumably Willy wasn't wearing that ice pack on his ankle after the game because he went out dancing, so sprinting out once in awhile under the right circumstances might not be much worse unless Willy has no self-preservation instinct at all. If he's gonna get clobbered, he ought to be able to slide.
  4. The team can't wait for miracles. If one of our draft choices comes home, that would be great, but the current lot has to upgrade their efforts.

  6. You're looking for the next Milt? So is every other team. Now if you are referring to Dave "sticky" Stala, well he may be available. I also included the descriptor "game-breaker" which automatically disqualifies Stala. I thought for a brief moment last year, we had one in that Smith-Whatever guy who dazzled and left.
  7. Well, Harper is devious and slippery.
  8. It also impresses me that one of the bigger lacks we have at the moment is a sticky-fingered game-breaker receiver like we had in Uncle Miltie. Kelly has had his moments, but not consistently and Nic Moore has not lived up to his advance billing. Maybe one will fall into our laps after NFL cut-downs.
  9. A great win for the long-suffering Ottawa fans and the CFL. Not a classic game but entertaining.
  10. We weren't as good as we looked in the first three games, and we probably aren't as bad as we looked against the Esks. For the first three games, the football gods smiled on us and we got a lot of breaks that could have gone the other way. Then the gods were angered and everything fell apart on the offensive side. Lets see what happens against the BC *******.
  11. Truth is, whatever game plan changes were made at half-time, they didn't translate into any different offensive performance on the field, so essentially, we got out-coached. The O-line was good enough, the defense was more than good enough, but got worn down in the 4th quarter- it was bound to happen. I don't know if our receivers were getting open and Willy was just not picking them out or Edmonton was blanketing them that well. The running game showed flashes of promise, but no consistency, What made me crazy was the team's inability to grab onto Reilly and bring him down. Yes, its all conjecture, but if Reilly wasn't allowed to make those runs, its a whole different game. Its only one game, so we can stand down from panic stations for the time being, but the next game has to be way better than this 2013 replay. Two crappy games in a row and all the confidence the team has gathered from the three previous wins will be gone.
  12. Not to beat a dead horse, but its hard to overestimate the impact Willy had when he took off for the first down in mid-drive. I wouldn't want him to do that on every second play, but if he is a threat to run, it changes the whole defensive game plan. I hope if the opportunity presents itself early in the game against the Esks, Willy takes off once or twice, it ought to shake up things pretty well.
  13. Just to stay on topic: I expect a close, smash-mouth game as these two teams are very similar in the ways they won the past 3 games and their strengths and weaknesses. I would rate Reilly a tad higher than Willy, on the basis of game experience, but if we can run on the Esks, we can beat them.
  14. Hey, if it's based on weight alone, let's just trade BC for Ryan Cave so he can sneak the ball. NO need to trade for him, he's available. Farhan Lalji ✔ @FarhanLaljiTSN #BCLions are releasing OT Ryan Cave. #Shocker #CFL Cave had the footspeed and agility of a glacier.
  15. That makes no sense. The Bombers are not going to give away Brohm after coming this far with him. Within the next 4 games I hope there will be an opportunity to give Brohm some game action. It does a team no good not to give a backup playing time throughout the season to bring him along. Worst case scenario Ryan Dinwiddie making his first start in a G.C. game. Can't happen again! Remember, folks here thought that Hall was a shoo-in for backup to Willy, and we all know how that turned out. I suggest that if Hamilton is going to be short on QBs for more than a week or two, there aren't that many options for them to get a backup QB who knows what 3-down football is about. If the price is right, there aren't that many untouchables on any team. We shall see.
  16. Of all the things a QB can be guilty of and which could get him turfed, missing one or two quarterback sneaks (one of which was doomed from the snap onward) has to be waaaay down the list. Soooooo....Marve's future on that alone can't be all that shaky. The alternative possibility is that Collaros is racked up worse than first thought and Hamilton suddenly finds themselves short on CFL-experienced pivots, Since Brohm is a known quantity in Hamilton and has the experience, a trade would seem to make sense. Nice to be in the driver's seat for a change.
  17. Sounds like more negatives than positives- not all that mentally quick in US football schemes so adapting to CFL rules with all the motion may well be a hill too steep, and there is repetition of "character concerns" . His arm strength appears to be questionable as well, so all in all sounds like a long shot- a very long shot. I wonder what Danny Mac and Co. see in him? Did he suddenly mature?
  18. And i took those sedatives in anticipation of excitement for nothing.
  19. Are you asking if we could have traded for Etienne? Cause the Riders released him before the season started. It was an apparently lame attempt at humour. But Etienne was exactly an ornament during his career- as desperate as the Riders are this year for NI receiver talent, he couldn't even make the PR.
  20. That was one heck of a hit. Reminded me of some of the shots that Hall took for us last year. Brutal. I hope there are no long-term issues for him, and I can't help thinking how close Willy was to that last game with all those free shots Montreal had at him. Brr....
  21. Nic Moore. Time for him to strut his stuff.
  22. Couldn't we have traded our Ford in for a Jade ornament?
  23. Doudie is usually afflicted with verbosity, but this time he was nothing short of hilarious.
  24. Hell I would take out Denmark and roll with 3 Canadian receivers. We are already using Kohlert and JFG well enough, the question is can Watson be a bigger impact than Denmark and I say yes he can. Watson has the heart, toughness and the talent, but is just too brittle for this game. JFG appears to have all of Watson's assets, plus a bit of extra size, greater durability and, most importantly, awesome hair.
