I don't care how muddy it was, if it didn't have a manhole in the middle of the field it can't be the absolute worst. Come now- we are in a new millennium. It's called a "personhole".

Popp may have lucked out in having Calvillo as his QB for so many years, but under his command, the Alouettes were competitive almost every year. For the most part, he was very good at finding talent and hiring good coaches. There ought to be several GM/Assistant GM NFL positions coming up,and the CFL can't compete with NFL salaries.

Some food for thought from Farhan Lalji

You're right- my bad. Damn that senility. -
it's reported at that time he is only interested on GM position. maybe he sees something goin' on the Als org. I wont be surprised if Poop bolts out to NFL this season o next yr. Maybe head coach for the present with an option to be head coach/GM if Popp bails out and then moving up to GM next year in that scenario.

Mike Kelly was a dreadful head coach and worse as a GM, so his judgement is highly questionable. I don't want to give him more air time, but he came into the job(s) with enormous goodwill in the bank and proceeded to burn it off at a rate unprecedented in recent Bomber history. The fans and players turned on him when it became painfully obvious just how bad he was. -
Henoc Muamba expected to get NFL contract
Tracker replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Would love to see Henoc return, but given the nature of the business and the short length of careers in pro sports, he owes it to himself to maximize his income, either in the NFL or CFL. He was one of the few bright spots last season, and earned his salary, so good luck to him. -
Bombers name Gene Dahlquist as new QB coach
Tracker replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
X2- One of the biggest frustrations of the players for the past couple of years was the bumbling ineptness of Burke as head coach but especially Crowton as Offensive Co-ordinator. Every player knew that neither were good enough to guide the team. Like it or not, this is a rebuilding year with a rookie GM and rookie head coach, and we need all the CFL experience we can get. No good feelings about this announcement. -
I wasn't unhappy with O'Shea as our new head coach but I would have preferred Higgins due to Higgins' experience. I remember him as professional and always available as well as polite to the media even after a tough loss. Higgins ought to do well in Montreal.

Virtual View Of McMahon Stadium & ST Price Comparison

So basically Calgary wants to be like Toronto ? Except for the fake cowboy worship in Calgary- they even have "Cowboy Churches" where everyone has to dress like cowpersons and the sermon is delivered in cowperson idioms. Strange but true. -
Bear WoodsIs this a poop joke? Nope. I checked Montreal's roster and he's an actual person! lol" Then all we need is for a CFL team to sign a player named "Pope" and we've got that all covered.

I just hope that he hasn't been watching the weather reporting for Winnipeg for the past couple of months.

No surprise here. Paris Jackson was barely hanging on last season and had to take a pay cut to do so. A good guy, but no longer young, good or cheap enough.

A Look at the Blue Bombers Offensive Line

Good stuff! Thank you for the posting, especially during a football news drought time. -
Eskimos release Alexander (Now Signed with the Bombers)
Tracker replied to voodoochylde's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
And then there's the other musical half as well- Alexander's Ragtime Band. -
Heck, bring him home and let him fight for a spot on the roster. Its not as if Cauchy has unquestionably been the answer, so let 'em prove who's best for the job.

Etcheverry announced as Defensive Coordinator (finally)
Tracker replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
About time- the suspense was killing me. -
Simms Walker was a force when he played- I can't remember when a "rookie" receiver came onto the field and dominated the DBs so completely. This does not mean he is well enough to return or even wants to, but the opposing DBs would have to bring changes of underwear to games if he comes back as good as he was.

I believe Williams sort of wandered around the league (Sask and Hammy?) and was tagged as locker room problem somehow before the Bombers took a bit of a chance in giving him another shot. Turned out rather well, if memory serves. Nope, started with us in 95. I'll always remember him basically winning a game for us against BC single-handedly when Andre Ware was their QB, and our offense was just terrible, I think he had a pick, 2 forced fumbles and blocked the game winning FG attempt. Traded to Saskatchwan prior to 97. Then traded to Hamilton with Lamar McGriggs halfway through that season for a draft pick because they were apparently disruptive in the locker room, they were also two of the best defensive players in the league at that time. Went to the NFL for 3 years, came back in 2002 with Saskatchewan as a defensive end, they cut him and the Bombers picked him up just before the playoffs, he got injured, then didn't make the team in 2003. I bow to your superior recall.

I was thinking rock as in large, immobile objects.

Lumbering is an interesting way to describe a guy that has become famous for jumping over defenders to avoid tackles. Maybe he works at Rona in the off-season?

We've had success in signing other teams' castoff linebackers who were deemed expendable for various reasons- KD Williams and James West for a couple, and there are probably more, so McCune is not that much of a reach. His personality and dedication mean leadership and that will be sorely needed in a year which will be very up and down.
-
And if McCune can clog up the middle effectively, it makes life a lot easier for the other backers and even the DBs.

We may have to Escort him back to the Bombers, but he may have lost his Focus or maybe his Edge. When he left the Bombers, it nearly Taurus apart.
