Arash Madani: Miller Trying to Force Rick Worman On Walters
Tracker replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
My first reaction is that Khari's lack of HC experience would be a liability, but with good, experienced assistant coaches, it might be all that bad. Khari has banked a lot of goodwill here in the 'Peg and is both intelligent and presents himself well. So, maybe.... -

Makes sense. He was a great player, and for the last 20 years has been a pharmaceutical sales rep. Therefore he's ready for professional coaching. Well, maybe Walby could bring along the right kind of party favours to perk players up? -
Doesn't sound like his knee will hold up. Too bad- all kinds of talent but bum wheels will do that- like Reggie Slack.

This Shitty Season vs Previous Shitty Seasons
Tracker replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yeah, that trip to the Grey Cup was ******* BRUTAL... The Grey Cup appearance was a fluke. The Bombers were deteriorating through much of that year, and stumbled into the payoffs carried by a stellar defence while the opposition in the Eastern Conference was struggling. The real Blue Bombers were exposed in the Grey Cup game as pretenders and were thoroughly humiliated. That was a clear signal that things were going downhill and quickly. The trend continued from there onward to date. I would rather the Bombers had not made the Cup final than looking that bad. It ranked right up there (but not quite) with the Roughies' 13th man debacle. -
This Shitty Season vs Previous Shitty Seasons

Actually, you can't separate this season from the two that came before- all under Mack's watch. Cumulatively, they have to be the worst three years in my memory. -
The season ended in June. The problem was that Mack wasn't fired before he hired Burke. If there is justice in this world, the closest Mack will ever get to pro football again would be to work as a hot dog vender in the stands.
-
And that's game over. Goodnight, Gracie. We've been out-coached and out-played once again.
-
If there are stats for futile offenses, this team would set all kinds of records.
-
Lets leave Walters as GM but offer Tom Higgins the job of Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel. That would work.
-
According to Bob on the pregame we are really close to resigning him.It would be a real feather in Walters cap. He's a beut. Its probably going to come down to dollars and a committment by the Bombers to make the team a contender in short order. Muamba is a great player but playing on a constantly losing team has to wear down a players' enthusiasm.
-
Bomber Oline seems to be getting worse as the game goes on- Jarvis Jones is starting to look like Boatman.
-
Well, the defence has come to play- Henoc Muamba just might win this all by himself.
-
Lordy. It looks like Edmonton's O-line is wearing Bomber uniforms today. They better have a bed in Intensive Care reserved for Hall at HSC.
-
And I'm hoping to win the lottery, but my odds are only slightly worse than the Bombers'.
-
what's being said in the post game? They said this was Hall's best game as a Bomber. Well, I have to agree that this was Hall's best game to date. And on top of that, we won. However, this is not not going to save Burke's job, nor will it stop the culling of the herd at the end of the season or even halt the search for a legitmate starting quarterback. This edition is still woefully short of talent in many areas.
-
This team is such a mess that Casey Creehan is looking good by comparison. This is so bad that it is nearly impossible to figure out where to begin, but firing Burke would send a message. I'm starting to have euphoric recall about the good old days of jim Daley, Jeff Reinbold, Paul LaPolice, Dave Ritchie, Doug Berry....need I go on?

GDT -- Game Day: Does Anyone Still Care?
Tracker replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I would be encouraged by the Bombers not being humiliated. Yes, its come to that for me. Everything I've seen in watching interviews with Burke and the players after a game says that Burke is completely lost and is just playing out the string at the expense of his dignity to keep getting paid. Worse yet, the players know it. -

I will watch out of habit if nothing else. I have no hope of the Bombers making the playoffs, or even looking competitive for remaining dirty half-dozen games. I have a faint hope that Burke will show some competence and start some of the new guys to see if they can help at all. Maybe Hall or even Boltus will emerge as a bona fide backup. -
Yeah, it might cost us the season.
-
I feel for Hall. Not only is his life insurance carrier going to increase his premiums by a whole bunch, but his playbook is going to consist of about three lines. We should check the obits in the Free Press on Saturday morning.
-
Threatening to bench or cut someone who is playing poorly is pointless when that player looks at the PR and does not see someone capable of playing better than him. Making an empty threat is way worse than not saying anything at all. Sorry to say, as much as I am in favour of putting Burke out of our misery, I see no hope of him leaving before the end of the season. In a perfect world, the GM would go to Burke and offer full HC pay for the rest of the season if he "resigns" and steps into his former job a defensive coordinator, either replacing Creehan or working beside him. Yeah. Like that is gonna happen.
-
I should think that, with all the import O-linemen available a fter the NFL cuts, we ought to be able to get more than one to push January and instantly replace Douglas/Boatman. If we cannot, that tells us a great deal about our scouting staff.

There comes a time when a coach and/or GM becomes so strongly associated with repeated losses and humiliations that the players simply give up and give up listening. Yes, they are supposed to be pros and play their hardest, but how do you get yourself up for a game when you know without a doubt that your team doesn't match up to any other team in the league and hasn't for years? This team doesn't seem to have any leadership from the players or the coaches, and there has to be a loss of respect for the coaches and the organization.
