You wait until game 68 to declare the Jets as a legit team, then take all of two games to go back to “I am done watching them”. You whine about Kyle Connor never being pulled away from Scheifele’s line, now he is and you still complain. It’s like you can’t be content unless you are unhappy about everything this team does. And anything short of a Cup win will be a failed season. Which is a miserable way to live your life a fan. Yes the last two losses sucked, but big picture this team is still in pace for 109 points in arguably the toughest division in the league. Given what the projections were last summer, things are pretty good now. The success of the season does not erase the concerns of the last few losses, but the stink of the past 72 hours does not diminish the positive steps the team has made. Perspective. And maybe let’s see how the change you pined for works out before saying “useless” as a default negative take. Rant over, go Jets go!

Was going back in the schedule to remember the last time the Jets lost a “good” game, that is did not look outplayed and outclassed or uncompetitive. Maybe the Seattle loss at home, but more likely the OT loss in Toronto. That was 2 months and 11 losses ago. That is what concerns me, that they get down and look disinterested or show no fight in these losses, not scrapping for OT loser points.

Special game time: high noon TSN3 The story: first of back-to-backs, this is the “game in hand” the Jets have over Colorado and Dallas, as they try to jump from 3rd back to 1st in the Central. Isles are 4 points out of a playoff spot.

True that. Open question for everyone, how important do you see finishing first in the Central to be? Any of Dallas, Colorado, or Winnipeg is a strong Cup contender, and one of them is going home after round one due to a brutal division match-up, but with the wild card team right now being a white hot Predators team and the defending Cup champs and their soon to be $100 million playoff roster, are there really any easy outs or preferred opponents in round one? If I was to rank opponents from the current playoff teams, not sure who I’d fear least (LA I suppose), but Dallas sticks out to me as a team I would rather avoid - they seem to have the blueprint on how to shut the Jets down. Thoughts? Maybe this needs its own thread.

Last night’s game was, in a word, frustrating. - because the passes were not crisp, be it the lousy ice, warm bouncy pucks, or whatever other excuse you want to throw out there, or just plain lack of focus - because except of 10 minutes in the back half of the second period the Jets were not playing with speed or focus -because any zone time gained was not generating shots or quality shot chances -because we did not look desperate against a team that had no reason to be desperate themselves, and bottom line got out worked by a team that does not have near our talent - that our bad special teams, which cost us in the first two months of the year, reared it’s ugly head again -that we wasted another strong performance by our back-up goalie by offering almost zero support either offensively or defensively - that we squandered an opportunity to gain ground in a time where every point is crucial in a tough battle to get first place in the division -that an effort like this follows right on the heels of a game that shows what we are capable of at our best Anyway, can’t change the past, and no point wallowing after game 69 of 82. Need a good kick in the pants and be ready to come out hard Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is our game in hand on the Avs and Stars, better make the most of it.

This was the most inspiring big win since the win in Vancouver. Jets went toe to toe with a powerhouse and played solid. Could have pushed more in the third, but controlled the game until the final 3 minutes.

Laurent Brossoit needs to appear in 7 of the final 15 games to qualify for the Jennings trophy this year. If you were a coach, would you let him sneak into a game for a minute or so when Hellebuyck is playing just to get to that number? He is targeted to probably start no more than five games the rest of the year.
