  1. “NO, I WILL LEAVE YOU IN!”
  2. Not that I believe Desjardins, but it was the club who wanted the two years and the player one according to him, so the early termination ability would not apply here. Players cannot walk away from contracts, only the team.
  3. Many would argue that “rural” is the right and “suburban” is the left. They would also argue the West is the far right.
  4. Major geek points/street cred to whomever can remember the audible that triggered the kicking motion. HINT: It’s not “Omaha” but is 4 letters long and starts with “O”.
  5. Again making the request so neither TBurg or 17 need to worry about the other getting the last word.
  6. And for what it’s worth here is Desjardin’s side of the story according to Marshall Ferguson. Apparently per the story when they re-negotiated, Ottawa wanted a two-year deal and Arbuckle would only agree to one. When Nichols was released by Toronto so they could avoid his bonus owing, Ottawa saw a chance to bring in a more veteran QB who had a successful relationship with the coach. So they signed Nichols instead. I’m sure people will make up their own minds as to who to believe.
  7. Just a reminder that LaPo did win his first ever HC game, and rather than go oh-fer the rest of the way, he did win a few more games and got to the Grey Cup. But if we limit it to Ottawa, I have a hunch they will sneak a win in somewhere this year. Their defence is still playing strong, they get Edmonton again, and Montreal and Hamilton have their moments looking weak. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. And they have a new hotshot QB signed according to the broadcast last night.
  8. Davis pulled his hamstring trying to run down the pick six. When Nichols went down (broken wrist?) he was injured, not benched. Not that it would have made a difference.
  9. Just as soon as this investigation was done, now he is facing sex assault allegations. Sharks will not have him at training camp until the investigation is complete.
  10. Ottawa O-line went to 4 Canadians to bring in Kenny Stafford as the new offensive threat. Result? One target, no catches.
  11. I’ll give Rod Black this credit. He is really selling it hard to try to convince viewers that this game is still in doubt so the ratings don’t tank. Not enough shoe shine in the universe to polish this turd. Outscore them by double digits. Not our team, just our defence alone.
  12. LaPo wants to challenge offside but can’t, so is grasping at straws in the hopes the command centre spots it. Wasn’t offside anyway.
  13. On to happier news. Was just looking it up and Edmonton and Calgary are both out of the playoffs right now. Since they both joined the CFL in 1948, Alberta has never been outside the playoffs. Dare to dream!
  14. This game is not going to draw new fans to the game. The refs pulled an Anti-Riders and couldn’t count UP to 12.
  15. In the first half, each team had 9 drives. Ottawa’s average start position was their own 27. Hamilton’s was their own 52.
  16. Edmonton gets Ottawa twice, but they also get Winnipeg 3 times. Ottawa peaked tonight when Hamilton LB Jarek Richards slipped and wiped out running out of the tunnel at the start of the game.
  17. But that year when the Bloc collapsed it was still a majority government. In every minority since 1980 it has been the Bloc votes and not the NDP that have made the difference.
  18. The record low average per game since 1958 (when offensive football increased) is 15.4 points per game, held by (guess who?) Ottawa in 1988 and 2014, when they scored 278 points in a 18 game season. Coming into this game they were averaging 16.0 points per game. It will drop to 13.3 if the shutout tonight continues.
  19. The fact Hamilton is only up 14-0 says a lot about how bad they are right now. I don’t remember the last time I saw a half of football as inept as Ottawa has put on tonight. Wonder what the average staring field position has been for Hamilton?
  20. That must have been it. Felt like a bad acid flashback seeing that name again.
  21. His other contribution was the idiotic “Bobo” which I thought died a merciful death until it randomly popped up in a post last week.
  22. At the same time, advancements in health care, science, sanitation, and life expectancy would also normally skew the numbers lower. How much that is offset by a quadrupling of the population in comparing total numbers is hard to say.
  23. It would also be interesting to see if there would have been any minority governments in the last 40 years if the Bloc Québécois did not exist.
