So $100 times 1.43 million unvaccinated Albertans equals $143,000,000 of taxpayer money to bribe antivaxxers. But hey, let’s cut wages to nurses by 3%. There’s pretty much all of me that wants them not allowed into hospitals eating up bed space for other patients who will at least try to take care of themselves. That or bill them fully for their stay so they aren’t a drain on our publicly funded health care system. I am out of compassion for those who have no compassion for others themselves.

2021 Off-season: State of the Jets
TrueBlue4ever replied to TrueBlue4ever's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Could also have put this in the “Good news” thread. Just a reminder that when we dump on players, there are human beings behind the jersey. And also be mindful that this was done without fanfare or publicity, only came to light by an independent 3rd party. -
Looking ahead,early chat-Banjo Bowl 2021
TrueBlue4ever replied to Nolby's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If you feel like you have no blocking, you will likely be more hesitant to just run full bore into 3 or 4 tacklers. I am not a fan of his hesitancy, but there have been returns where he has zero help in front of him. I don’t think it’s an either/or situation, and both he and his blocking have contributed to the situation so far. But unlike when Andrew Harris runs slowly behind his line waiting for the blocks to develop and then exploding through the hole, I rarely see returns being able to work the same way. Nelson seems to lack the explosive acceleration Grant has, but so far he is protecting the ball and getting positive yards if not the big return pretty much every time. A lot like Pail Bennett back in the day. -
He’s actually fairly spot on if you read the technical requirements. Here is the definition straight from the CFL rule book. I’ve bolded it for your convenience: Article 5 — Roughing The Passer Because the act of passing puts the passer in a particularly vulnerable position to injury, special rules against roughing the passer apply. Once the ball is released, defensive players must avoid all unnecessary contact with the passer. A player shall be penalized for any act of Unnecessary Roughness to the passer, including but not limited to: Contacting the passer in an unnecessary manner, including stuffing him to the ground, violently throwing him to the ground, and landing on him with most of the defender's weight, Any blow above the passer's shoulder, All rushing defenders must attempt to avoid forcibly hitting a passer in the pocket, at or below the knees, either if their path to the passer was unrestricted, or if they are coming off a blocker, Attacking the passer who, after releasing the ball, is either standing still or fading backwards and is obviously out of the play and remains out of the play, When the quarterback slides feet first, all unnecessary contact must be avoided. The slide must be done in a timely manner to allow the defence to avoid such contact. Contacting the passer if either the initial source of contact, or primary source of contact, is the defender's helmet. So nothing about intent, just black and white “blow to the head”. Nothing defining what a “blow” means, no qualifier, so it does not require “in an unnecessarily rough manner” or “an unimpeded view” like other definitions.

They are who Jefferson thought they were
TrueBlue4ever replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Given the pages of comments about Suitor, especially during the two week Rider period, it’s not that clear. And I’m an atheist by the way, so the formal title is not accurate and not needed. (That’s a clear joke, just for clarity’s sake). 😁 -

Seems to be when Suitor apparently does it. Hypocrisy much? -
Huh. Didn’t take them for MAGAts who spewed election conspiracy theories.

What’s the deal with that band around Harris’ neck?
-
There was another roughing the passer that was pretty shady. Harris scrambled and ran and then slid down. The d-lineman from the side slid down into him but appeared to pull up short. The linebacker coming towards him held up but put his hands on Harris’ chest with Harris already down and Harris was pushed down to the turf. Linebacker basically braces himself and did not drive through. Weak call.

JFC. Congratulations, you’ve literally found the thinnest argument to diss Rod Black with.

High Campbell was a wide receiver and then a division 3 head coach before jumping right into head coaching and managing Tom Wilkinson and Warren Moon. Cal Murphy was a defensive halfback briefly with BC before becoming the offensive coordinator of Edmonton during their quintiple Grey Cup run. Bill Belichick barely played out of high school and was center and tight end with a private liberal arts college before becoming a defensive coordinator in the NFL. I think the “need to coach at a high level to gain respect” or “should be a QB to understand how to run an offence” takes are a bit overblown.

Yeah, I really feel this needs to be said more. 😁

Odds and Sods - Game 4 - Stamps at Bombers
TrueBlue4ever replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
And he won’t be thrown to if he’s not getting open, or dropping them when they come his way. -
Speaking of attendance, did they not announce it at the last Bomber home game, and how far are we from a sellout for the Banjo Bowl?
-
As a further comparable, the Blue Bombers have 75 players with 2 or more Cup rings with the franchise. 42 of those 75 have 2, 21 of them have 3, and 12 are four time Blue Bomber Cup champions. Hopefully we will add a large number of two time winners to the ranks this December.

Good work on this! Even more astounding, only 7 Riders have more than one Grey Cup ring with the team. 12 men have walked on the moon.

Sometimes I feel like I could do a better job on the CFL schedule. The game is now on for Nov. 16. The Elks already play Nov. 13 and Nov. 19. They go road-road-road in Sask-Tor-BC. Completely clueless and dangerous for the players. What they should have done is work with the existing bye weeks. Winnipeg and Edmonton both have the bye in week 8, so move their week 11 game to that week, then Winnipeg gets the bye in week 11 and Edmonton is now free to play Toronto in week 11 and Toronto loses their bye that week. Consider that Edmonton and Toronto already got their bye with the week 4 postponement.

Saw a tweet that put a different spin on the expansion of SCOTUS. Pointed out that the Democrat nominee Garland was held up for 8 months on the premise that it was an election year, to then be replaced by Republican nominee Gorsuch. Then Barrett was rammed through 8 days before the election with 66 million ballots already cast. “THAT is what stacking the court looks like” was the tweet, as to why pushing the number now to 13 would be fair. I actually like the idea that the Dems get 5 appointments, the Republicans 5, and SCOTUS itself gets 5 appointments to keep it balanced and give no group an advantage. The problem is that Dems got burned by Harry Reid eliminating the 60 vote rule and employing the nuclear option, only to have McConnell pull the same trick later and be able to justify it on precedent. Republicans have no qualms changing the rules to suit their advantage when it benefits them, because they don’t fear that Democrats will reply in kind when they have the chance. And they are usually right. They have no concern about fair play and optics because their base will blindly follow them regardless of their dirty play. Democrats can’t say the same because their base is softer and more prone to have a conscience about things. Makes sense since Liberals have a foundation of “help the most vulnerable and look out for everyone” as part of their mindset while conservatives are more “pull yourself up by your own bootstraps and don’t be dragged down by the weak who expect handouts”
