I don’t quite get how people putting out random tweets are making a lot money. But I get the concept of preying on people’s emotions to sell a story.

Won’t make a difference because they won’t get the 2/3 vote in the Senate to oust him. The real danger is if they control the House, they could theoretically invalidate any 2024 election results like they wanted to in 2020, but they would possibly have the numbers to do it. So if the gerrymandering and voter suppression don’t work, then they will just legislate in a Republican victory. Like they are trying to do at the State level in Republican controlled houses.

But Trump got 2 Nobel Peace prize noms out of it, so that’s what matters to them. Can’t let that “boy” Obama best the Donald. (Note: that offensive racist “boy” term is their characterization, not mine).

It really says something about the current state of the Republican Party that I kind of feel sorry for Liz Cheney of all people. It also says something about Liz Cheney that I am somewhat ambivalent about feeling sorry for her.

And Appleton gets one! Break out the Andrea! Can you pick the lotto numbers for me next?
-
Appleton has missed some big chances tonight, but on the positive side he is creating those chances for himself with good speed and anticipation. 4

Hoping the performance of the top line tonight is a sign of things to come. Really buzzing and cycling well.

Mr. terrible leader with 3 points so far tonight.

Thompson is on the penalty kill unit. Harkins isn’t. Not really any more complicated than that.

I am curious to know what your source of this “unconfirmed” information is. What I heard from the broadcasters earlier in the year was that the room was tight and everyone was getting along great in the aftermath of the Laine trade. That is not surprising when you are winning. I can’t speak to what is going on now as I am not in the room. All I can comment on is what I have heard with my own ears and seen with my own eyes. Wheeler has acknowledged that his style did run a few (specifically Laine) the wrong way, and he had to adapt his style and acknowledge his shortcomings. That is old news. Haven’t heard any updates contradicting that. Or that Maurice is turning a blind eye to what is going on. And when I watch the team now, I don’t see a team that has quit on each other or their coaches, despite the recent swoon. They got beat by a hot goalie yesterday, beat by a hot goalie in Ottawa, beat by a hot Toronto goalie to start the slide, lost 2 games solely because of the other teams’ power play, and they are squeezing the sticks and making dumb plays at times for sure. And there have been some bad games for sure. Lots of reasons and excuses if you will, but I am not seeing the open revolt that would spell the end of all hope. And I see Wheeler manning up every game in front of the media patiently answering the question for the players about the struggles. And he was the hottest Jet during the slump with a 6 game point streak. As for Buff, that loss and the collapse of the D as a whole is the main reason for our struggles. The amount of size and strength we lost in one off season from Chariot, Trouba, Myers, and Buff would be catastrophic for any team. Forbert may be an adequate replacement for Chariot, but he should be no more than a 5-6 guy, not top 4. Chariot could play light minutes and be protected with Buff, Morrissey, Trouba, Myers, Morrow, Kulikov and Enstrom in front of him. Poolman and Stanley have been thrown to the wolves this year. Stanley is Myers with slightly less better hands, more physicality, and a lot less experience. Pionk is a fundamentally different type of defenceman than Trouba was, Poolman is not a fair replacement for Trouba, and Morrissey without Trouba is a downgrade from Morrissey with him. DeMelo is turning into Kulikov 2.0, where we were happy to have that back end experience when he first came here, but now one has to wonder if that is not a bad contract to have. And there will never be a replacement for a Byfuglien. What sucks is how little control we had over the gutting of that D. Trouba was gone the second he could be, and all things considered we got a better than expected deal out of it, Myers was signing with Vancover no matter what, and Buff pulled the rug out from under us with his last second retirement. Chariot is the only mistake, and one we could not have predicted since Buff was still coming back at that point. The only other issue I have is that our draft and trade choices for defencemen have been on the small side by and large. Niku and Heinola are Enstrom clones, with hopefully more offensive upside (and I guess they were the highest rated players when the Jets’ turn came) and Morrissey, DeMelo and Pionk are not big guys comparatively. All this to say, I don’t think these deficiencies have much to do with the on-ice captaincy.

We are getting goalied tonight, plain and simple.
-
I agree. But where we differ is in how he should develop. Right now, Forbert and his shot blocks and Benn and his simple game are better than Heinola’s future upside. And we need to be worried about right now with the playoffs looming. If the Jets can find a big physical defenceman to complement Morrissey like Trouba did, then maybe Stanley can pair with Pionk to continue his growth, and find a steady stay at home veteran who can protect Heinola or Samberg in limited minutes, that is how I would approach it. Heinola is the future, not the present.
-
Yea our d needs to be changed. But making a 20 year old your top 2 defenceman is a good way to ruin him. Stanley has shown the value of letting a raw player develop in the minors for a few years and then easing him in, and Morrissey has also shown the danger of putting too much on the shoulders of a young blue liner too soon.
-
Coach’s salaries are not part of the cap, and we have the richest owner in the NHL.
-
Neither do I.
-
Benn and Forbert don’t seem to be given any rope by those who pine for Heinola, so applying that logic it would only be fair to hold him to the same standard. Of course I exaggerate, but the point is made that around here the most popular guy is always the back-up QB type. And as mistakes go, that decision by him was pretty brutal. The classic dictionary definition of “rookie mistake”.
-
Well, all those who wanted Stanley and Heinola back on defence instead of the more experienced guys, be careful what you wish for. Heinola already -2 and directly responsible for the first goal. But at least Connor got off the schneide.
-
Or a global player initiative to open the league up to foreign markets? Don’t look now, but you are embracing the Ambrosie vision to find new revenue sources and parroting what he has been saying about needing a new business model for the CFL.

Like clouds in the sky or kids crossing his lawn.

There is a boatload of Grey Cup merchandise sitting in the Bomber store right now. The winning team puts out championship gear every year.

This is the right place for it.....unless you want to put it In the NFL thread on the CFL page. 😁

As was said on the radio today, hard to take the threats about enforcing fines and restrictions seriously when 500 people show up at the Forks for an anti-mask rally and only 20 people get ticketed.

Just heard the some thing from an inside source. Expect school closures and a hard shutdown.

It isn’t as good. Not close. But if you compare every Jets’ team to the standard set by the 2018 bunch you are in for a lifetime of disappointment. I have said it before a few times, a season like that comes around maybe once every 30 years for a team. That team was better than the 2019 Blues’ Cup Champion team, probably better than the Vegas team that out-goalied us in the Conference Finals that year, and certainly better than the Dallas team that went to the Finals last year. You can’t fairly measure every iteration of a team against the best version ever and simply declare the current version a failure. If that was the case, then the 2019 Bombers did not measure up to the 2001 juggernaut.
