Do we need that money for off-seasons signings that can go against this year’s cap instead of next? I have no idea where our cap situation is, I don’t have access to the books.
-
Just remember that for every player pulled off the practice roster to go on the game roster, a player has to be put on the practice roster as well since we can’t exceed active roster numbers. And any practice roster player can be claimed by another team at any time so long as they immediately go on to that team’s active roster. So unless we play the “one game injured reserve” route (which may cause salary cap issues), we would be exposing current starters if we flipped them to the practice roster for a one game audition of another player. Given the size of CFL rosters, I just don’t expect to see the kind of movement others may hope for. Back-ups currently on the game roster will likely get more time, but I think PR guys will pretty much stay there in these last two weeks. At least that is my understanding of the rules. I stand to be corrected.

Jets deserved a better fate tonight, but moral victories count for zero points in the standings. -

Haven’t seen a collapse that bad since…. -
Given that O’Shea was not shy about declaring Schoen as “out” already on the injury record for the game two days away, I’d say he’s given us a clear update that this is not short-term, given his usual close-to-the-vest approach. I guess we will see, but I am steeling myself for a “questionable” at best come playoff time.

Blue Bombers - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

We have a viable replacement- Bolo. McCrae is the back-up to the back-up, which is what level you’d expect a PR player to be -
Schoen certainly has been lit up with some horrible hits this season. Certainly seems to take more than his fair share. Wonder if he is being targeted, or it is the play design for his routes, or if he does not take care himself to avoid those dangerous blindside shots? Any thoughts? Not want to say “it’s his own fault” because I love his grittiness, just don’t see other receivers getting teed off on in the open field like he does, curious as to the factors at play.

My only worry is Wolitarsky’s quote “His first real injury. Big injury” Now lacking a bit in context, and what he defines as “big” is open to interpretation, but at first blush, straight from the horse’s mouth, that does not sound encouraging. The rest is just more media speculation.

Blue Bombers - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

True, although really only used as a running back on sweeps. And given the injury he suffered on one of those plays earlier this season, and the impact it had on our return game, I am more than happy to keep him on the sidelines for everything except for returns. -
Blue Bombers - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

Agreed on Bolo over McCrae. And I would certainly not object to Fox and Haba being added, but I suspect the coaches want to replace an offensive body with an offensive body on the roster, so McCrae is likely added (since Bolo was already on the game day roster in B.C.), unless we would roll with Augustine as the emergency back-up at receiver, which I doubt we would. -

With Bolo going into the starting rotation as well, probably. -
I heard from a guy who heard it from the horse’s mouth that “he fine”.

I am confident you can start planning.

You really think a win is going to relax some people around here?

Well, you see, a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…… oh, never mind.

Being skilled will make you more responsible and respectful of your behaviour and alert to others on the road, which will make you safer and lead to courteous actions, I believe. Just understanding the rules won’t help where you need to react to another rule-breaker to avoid a bad outcome, and maneuver safely where the rules are out the window in an unexpected situation.

Having had kids go through driver training just a few years ago, I found that the education and testing was more rules based than skills based, and almost seems geared to “we will fail you a few times to collect fees” rather than “we will teach you how to drive well”. My daughter did 4 tests, got three automatic fails for technical violations, including two situations where she got different instructions for the same maneuver, and was told she was wrong both times for doing what they told her. Last test she was on Chief Peguis and told to take the exit lane. She paused and the instructor (who had failed her once before) said “if you don’t get over as soon as the lane opens up, I will automatically fail you”. She said “I have to wait” and the instructor was going to fail her when a car roared by them on the shoulder, passing illegally on the right. My daughter had checked her mirrors and seen it coming. so she waited to avoid getting rear-ended. She passed (barely, said the instructor to me). Mentioned the incident and I snapped back “if the driver’s actions prevent the instructor from causing an accident with an improper instruction and no shoulder check from the passenger’s seat, maybe that should qualify as an automatic pass. Now, if it was an MPI training vehicle rather than her personal car, I would gladly have told her to follow your dangerous instructions and wreck your car”. No more critiques from the instructor after that. When my son tested later, he had a similar experience of automatic fails for minor flaws, so we hired a private instructor to train him for his final test and they drove him around the area where the test was going to happen, near Bison Drive. Took him to a weird school zone stop sign where there was a crosswalk beyond the stop sign and you had to stop twice before proceeding through the intersection. The instructor said “The instructors love to take students here and then fail them because no one really knows what to do in this zone, it’s badly designed”. He passed the test and when he did the right maneuver at that tricky spot the instructor later said “I was waiting to see if you were going to fail in that place”. I would much prefer a training system that teaches you to be a good driver rather than an obedient driver - the former is more valuable in promoting safety.

Have I missed it or has there not been a successful lawsuit against Amazon for a stolen package? Surprising if not, delivery is not really successful if it doesn’t get into your hands. Purolater will leave it at a depot for pick-up if you are not home.

Lock of the Week Part II: Week 19

The MLB regular season used to be the only one that mattered of the big 4 in sports. Now it’s just another pointless slog to make money. The top 5 teams in the regular season all got bounced in the playoffs, with a combined record of 1-13. And 3 of the 4 teams who earned the first round bye lost out as well.

Window or aisle? Bus answer is fine, but I was thinking of a plane. And yes, only one song. It is meant to be that tough to answer.
