  1. You just KNOW CNN is pouring over old Trump rally tapes looking for this guy in the background to splash on the news tonight. I actually can accept Trump's belief when he says CNN is out to get him, they are quite transparent at it (they have more opinion and analysis pieces than actual news headlines at any given time on their website), and I'm not going to say if he deserves it or not, but he certainly has made it easy for them to have ammunition to play with to go after him, and also to have an axe to grind with him (as he would with them).
  2. Actually, I think the first salvo from Trump will be “again, media finds him guilty until proven innocent, just like Kavanaugh. Because he’s A supporter of mine, no trial, he’s guilty, all Trump’s fault. Such lies, we don’t even know he’s the real suspect. But you can bet CNNand the fake news will sell it that way. Corrupt”.
  3. You know that this will actually be thrown out as a theory somewhere. Maybe not quite "Clintons are in cahoots with this guy" conspiracy, but "this guy is so over the top and that van so transparently phony that he is clearly a liberal wacko trying to deflect from the immigrant caravan crisis that is the real news in a frame job of Trump. No real person with an anti-Liberal agenda would be so overt in their hatred if they wanted to send bombs secretly. Obviously a set up to fool the fake media, who are all too willing to take the bait"
  4. Card-carrying member of the NRA?
  5. You know, I've sometimes thought, in the most Bizarro-world kind of way, that Trump actually is telling the truth when he makes his outrageous claims, just that the target is the exact opposite of who he says it is. He says "fake news" and points out the mainstream media as the culprits. Well, the biggest purveyor of fake news seems to be Donald himself (too exhaustive a list to recap, hope no one wants to challenge me with "cite an instance where he's lied"), so fake news does exist, but seemingly from his own mouth as much as anywhere. "Massive voter fraud" he claims as a ready defence if he loses, like the deep state is out to shut him down, yet the only instances of fraud I hear about are Russian collusion (in his favour), voting laws that consistently restrict minorities inordinately over white people, missing ballots or difficult voting practices in predominantly black neighbourhoods, and gerrymandering that all seems to end up favoring Republicans. "Drain the swamp" he says like the old order under Obama was terrible, and he'll clean it up, yet he has provided us with Conway, Miller, Bannon, the nepotism gang et al and exposed the swamp he surrounds himself with. Now I know the Dems have their bad seeds too, nobody is clean here, it's just funny that Trump, in trying to decry the flaws he sees in the system out to get him as some sort of persecution complex he has manifested, has in actuality shone a big bright shining light on those same issues that he himself he practices but has wholeheartedly railed against. John Oliver actually did a piece on gerrymandering (for anyone unfamiliar, it is the process of geographically re-aligning voting districts so that a politician can skew which voters can vote in which districts, and therefore manipulate the vote by loading the majority of the opposing candidate's voters into one area and spreading their own voters out into slim majorities in many districts, thereby winning the vote by winning the majority of the districts, even if they lose the overall vote count - that was my takeaway from it). What is astounding is that the process is totally legal, and the re-districting happens every election and is in total control of the ruling party, so the incumbent can legitimately shape the voting districts to his/her benefit and maximize the likelihood of winning the election, even with a minority of actual votes cast for them. Not sure how this compares to Canadian politics, but Doug Ford's unilateral ruling that the Toronto city counsel would be shrunk despite a court ruling saying he couldn't reminded me of this political gamesmanship.
  6. CNN reporting that two "suspicious packages" (reported to be IED's - a.k.a. bombs) were found, one outside Bill and Hillary Clinton's home, and one that was addressed to Barack Obama. This comes two days after a pipe bomb was sent to George Soros' home. Also, police called to investigate a suspicious package sent to Time Warner offices (the parent company of CNN) that led to a building evacuation. At first glance, someone seems to be declaring war on Democrats in a very literal sense.
  7. One last thing: If BC beats Saskatchewan by exactly 3 points this week, they will still need to beat Calgary by 13 points or more (and avoid a 3-way tie scenario involving Winnipeg) to pass Saskatchewan for 2nd place.
  8. 1. Ottawa needs one win to clinch top spot, or one Hamilton loss. In their head-to-head game, a tie will also clinch top spot for Ottawa. 2. Hamilton needs a win against Ottawa, AND a win and Ottawa loss or tie in the final week's games, or a tie and an Ottawa loss in the final week's games, to claim top spot. 2. Calgary needs one tie in their last 2 games to clinch top spot in the West. They can finish no lower than second. 3. Saskatchewan needs a win and 2 Calgary losses to clinch top spot. They need a win, a tie, or a loss by less than 3 points in their game against BC, or a BC loss or tie in their game against Calgary in the final week, to clinch 2nd place. In the event of a 3 way tie with Winnipeg and BC at season's end (they lose to BC, and Winnipeg and BC win all of their other games), they will finish 2nd. They can finish no lower than 3rd. 4. Winnipeg needs a tie in their last 2 games to clinch a playoff spot and eliminate Edmonton. They need any combination of wins and BC losses totalling 2 to clinch 3rd place (not considering any tied game scenarios), provided there is no 3 way tie involving Saskatchewan at season's end. They can finish no better than 3rd. 5. BC needs a win over Saskatchewan by 4 or more points and a win in their other game to finish 2nd, provided there is no 3 way tie with Winnipeg at season's end (in that event, they will finish 3rd). Not considering tied games or the 3 way tie scenario, they will need any combination of wins or Winnipeg losses totalling 3 to clinch 3rd. they can finish no lower than 4th. 6. Edmonton needs a win and 2 Winnipeg losses to make the playoffs. They can finish no better than 4th, regardless of any 3 way tie scenarios.
  9. If the Bombers beat Calgary, the only way they cannot clinch a playoff spot is if we end up with the 4-teams tied at 10-8 scenario. With Edmonton and BC playing this weekend, either Edmonton will be 8-9 or BC will be 8-8 (assuming no tie), so a 10th Bomber win would ensure them either a better record than Edmonton or at worst the same record as BC (and we win the tiebreaker with BC based on winning the season series in point differential). Even if they tie, the Bombers would still have a better record than Edmonton provided we beat Calgary (at worst 10-8 vs 9-8-1). In fact, a BC win over Edmonton clinches them a playoff spot this weekend, but not us. And if BC beats Edmonton and we have a 3-way tie at season's end, BC and Edmonton would get in based on head-to-head-to-head (this would require us to lose both of our last 2 games). If Edmonton wins and there is a 3-way (no snickering), then Edmonton and Winnipeg would get in. So all we really need to do is beat Calgary and avoid the Riders sliding back into a 4 way tie for 2nd.
  10. Anyone but the Leafs. Even if they got swept, all we'd hear from the broadcasts was how amazing Matthews is, how Toronto is the next great thing. Literally, could you see the Jets actually being presented the Stanley Cup and the commentators are saying at that very moment. "what a valiant effort by Toronto, they will be a force for years to come"?
  11. Can Trump issue a directive limiting the scope of the FBI investigation? And if not, is Trump then interfering with this FBI probe, and subsequently can he be charged with obstruction of justice? Wouldn't it be something if THIS was the FBI probe that took him down, and not Russia?
  12. Why, would he turn into Bill Cosby?
  13. For free verse, absolutely!
  14. Good catch.
  15. Nice clean game, did not force plays, put together a big time consuming, point scoring drive when we needed it in the 4th quarter, and delivered on the kill shot on 2nd and long to ice the game. Played with focus and fire. Thanks for settling things down with the team and this bi-polar fan base, good job (and you throw a spiral a million times better than Johnny "Quack quack" Football). Go get 'em next week!
  16. Haiku: just three lines. Syllables: five, seven, five. Are we all clear now?
  17. What a jumbled mess Can we not count syllables? Worst. Haiku. Ever.
  18. Congrats on the win MOBomberFan Well played!
  19. Advantage MOB
  20. Reynolds is on at the 2:49:00 mark, but watch a likely very high Kirsty Alley at 2:45:00 for some context to his speech.
  21. Well, last chance here, so for the first time all season, got to go with Andrew Harris.
  22. Who did everyone pick last week?
  23. Of course there is an excuse. It’s “The GOP has the numbers and can manipulate the system to get their guy in”. It’s the same excuse for denying/stonewalling Obama’s pick for a year under the pretence of “can’t allow a pick in an election year, should be a ballot issue”. Oh, you wanted a GOOD excuse..... If Ruth Bader Ginsburg passes away (can’t Imagine her retiring with Trump in power, even if she is 84), it is quite astounding to think that 33% of the highest court in the country for the next 30-40 years could be shaped by Donald Trump. And a sad indictment of both the US court and political systems that a supposedly non-political body is seen as acting in such a partisan manner depending on who sits on it.
