  1. Haven’t you figured out Booch’s shtick yet?
  2. That’s a lie! Two steps at least.
  3. Nichols gets Fajardo’ed on that sack attempt.
  4. It’s early but Bighill looks lost out there so far. 3 glaring misses so far on tackles.
  5. O’Shea was talking about McCrae as a returner on OB today. Acknowledges “he’s working on it” but says they like the skills he has to make a dynamic return with his speed and vision. Maybe the missed field goal return against Calgary bought him more rope with the coaches.
  6. Nice fielding by McCrae on that punt anyway.
  7. Bighill looked out of position AND slow in pursuit there.
  8. Well, can’t blame the roster management for looking gassed on the first offensive play of the game.
  9. Panel all agree this game is a lock. Hate that, setting up a jinx.
  10. Confirmed. Toronto scored 70 and 60 in consecutive games in 1990. Calgary scored 62 and 58 in consecutive games in 1994.
  11. I can tell you it has certainly happened without looking it up. Don’t remember the exact totals but I think the Argos topped 60 in back-to-back games. Will look it up and confirm.
  12. Castillo should have been Grey Cup MVP in 2021.
  13. Just a reminder that Edmonton has traditionally played teams tough for the first half this year and then wilt in the second, so we should not panic if the game is not an early blowout (he said knowing that advice is like spitting into the wind once the GDT gets going).
  14. Lawler. If I’m going down in flames again, I’m taking all of you bastards with me!
  15. As far as best sitcom character, Kramer was a standout on a show full of hilarious characters, so I have to go with him. For guitar riff, the opening chords of “Layla” might be the most iconic (mindful of how tough and broad this question is and how personal any selection will be). As for a personal favourite that is probably not even thought of or severely underrated (mainly because in my mind the shift into the main body of the song falls right off after it) is the opening guitar lick of “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress” (which Bryan Adams later copied to a large extent when he recorded “Run To You”).
  16. So we’ll try this question again, but I’ll throw out another new one for this week: What is your favourite (or in your mind the best) opening riff in rock music history?
  17. Sorry, I was referring to DA as the “Nationalized American”, not the designated import position. Is Jackson being used as the designated import or the Nationalized American (the latter is how I was interpreting Booch’s comments)? I don’t really get the point of the “designated import” ruling anyway. Why do you have to declare the spot?
  18. Problem that hasn’t been analyzed as fully in the whole “roster management” debate is that these moves aren’t made in a vacuum, and most every roster switch requires a counter measure. So if you pull Jackson for Fox as an example, we now have no fullback on the roster, since Miller is still hurt. So one possibility is that Jackson is used as the DA because of ratio rules and we need that Canadian starter on the roster on offence. Or we make another counter measure like benching Bailey for O’Leary-Orange. Now I don’t pretend to have the answers here, would be happy to have others explain a scenario that works that keeps players at every position and factors in the ratio requirements. Easy to say we need another DL or that Jake Thomas should be sat, but it isn’t as simple as that with the Canadian ratio rules or the snap limit and eligibility years required for the DA. Fortunately the powers that be have found a way to manage it adequately enough to keep us winning a lot more than not. Two random questions for those more in the know. First, I don’t see where Jamal Parker had any more significant college experience returning punts than McCrae (Parker had only 2 punt returns in his 4 year career in college, McCrae zero) but certainly had more experience as a kick returner (which McCrae also did, but in a more limited capacity). So the first question is: is there any significant difference in fielding punts vs kickoffs? I’ve certainly seen specialists in each area, and some like Grant handle both jobs very well, but are there any factors that make one more technically difficult than the other? Second question regarding fatigue and the need for rotational players. Are certain positions more prone to players getting gassed than others? If so, which ones and why? I have my ideas but want to hear from those in the know. Thanks in advance.
  19. I have no doubt there’ll be whining from some of us.
  20. Was thinking more along these lines….
