Not sure. That would be a question for Pallister.

Just to be clear, she was absent during a lot of that time due to a long-term personal medical issue that was not much reported in the media. Not saying this excuses every poor decision she has or has not made, but the “ducking the job” narrative is not completely fair.

I envision an expansion plan to 36 eventually. Quebec City would actually make sense as a relocation for Arizona since the league wants the big expansion dollars and Houston, Atlanta, Kansas City and maybe Salt Lake City would have more well-heeled owners in bigger media markets. 6 divisions of 6 teams each, top 2 in each division and 4 wild card per conference makes 20 teams in the playoffs. First round is best of 3 play-in with the wild card teams, then 1-8 ranked match-ups from there, best of 7. 82 game schedule, 2 games against every non-divisional opponent (60 total), 4 or 5 against divisional opponents (22 games total). Just spitballing here.

The issue is that OSH gets a pass on the site, yet there was bellyaching about the lack of news from reporters, who are shut out by O’Shea’s cone of silence just the same. -

I never saw the two-handed slash delivered to Dreisaitl (out of country so video highlights harder to come by), but this is too funny not to share even if out of context. -

Winning covers up a fair amount of character imperfections (not that OSH has any - he was cool, calm and collected before 2019 even though some called for his head back then). Luckily Wade was patient and we reaped the benefits. -

Anyone else wondering if the Bombers would ever consider running a six-pack receiving set any time this year? And who among Wolitarsky, Bailey, Agudosi, BOLO. Grant, or even McCrae, Augustine, or Oliviera would still not get in the last 3 spots in the top 6 formation? -
Unfortunately for you, having a name starting with “GC” and posting in the politics threads here is like having the actual name “Karen” and going shopping.

Just a hunch, but Tucker threatening to expose FOX is not the flex he thinks it is. I would be surprised if he had more dirt on them than they have on him, and they would go scorched earth on him pretty quickly if he wanted to air dirty laundry.

MAC (or MIKE) is a middle linebacker whose current iteration is a forever Bomber hero. MACK is a middling (at best) GM whose last iteration is a forever Bomber cancer. Please don’t mix the spelling up, seeing the wrong version gives me heart palpitations. -

The problem with the “Liegghio did not cost us because he is not responsible for the blocked kick” it that it creates a misleading narrative by conveniently forgetting his missed convert. Unless the snap was fumbled on that kick (and it wasn’t), that PAT miss is on him. One point lost there. We lost the game by one point. So to wash that away and focus only on the block feels as disingenuous an argument for his defenders as blaming him for the blocked FG is for his detractors. He missed more PATs than any other kicker all season long (and also the previous year) so THAT was the concern going into the Grey Cup, and lo and behold when the chips were down he missed again (like he did twice the week before in the West Final, which cost us a net 4 points). It is a 32 yard kick, which for today’s kicker should be close to automatic, maybe one or two misses a year over the course of 50 kicks. THAT should be the discussion about his fault or not in losing the game. Not the block which seems like a red herring in trying to defend him. -
If Kamloops wins the series against Seattle, the Ice automatically qualify for the Memorial Cup.

She has filed articles of impeachment against him some dozen times, no one in Congress has ever endorsed her bill even once.

Here’s another article on Maurice. Although all coaches have a shelf life and he had hit his in Winnipeg, I hated all the negative talk about how he couldn’t coach. And his speech in defence of the city when a couple of San Jose players whined about the lousy wi-fi in their hotel makes him a forever favourite of mine. https://theathletic.com/4481979/2023/05/02/paul-maurice-panthers-maple-leafs/?source=fbhq -

Former Bombers in NFL (and spring leagues) news
TrueBlue4ever replied to WinnipegGordo's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
3 moments I remember: 1. Game in BC, Lions tie it late but the scoreboard gets it wrong and has them trailing by one. Bombers stall on 3rd and 1 on the next drive and kick away rather than gamble, Lions get the ball back and then the scoreboard corrects, they match to midfield and Passaglia launches a huge punt with 30 seconds left for a single and we lose. I am furious with the loss but the camera cuts to Riley smiling in his “aw shucks” way as the clock hits zero, he is interviewed right away about the tough loss on a punt single and the scoreboard screw-up, and he says what a great game both teams played and how this is what makes the CFL special and how lucky he is to get to coach and experience games like this, hopes the fans appreciated the spectacle, credits the Lions, is proud of his team, no excuses and how wonderful is it to be a coach in this league. Anger just washed away from me in that moment, and I felt better about the world. That was his gift. 2. He announces he is leaving for the NFL in 1988 after winning the Cup, but a few months later word leaks that he is having second thoughts about the move, but worries that fans will disrespect his flop-flop. I ask my dad if he thinks it is a sign of weakness to back out of a deal and he says to him it is a sign of strength to admit your mistakes and man up, and not to be afraid to question yourself. We write him a letter to tell him to follow his heart and to be ashamed of nothing, his happiness is more important than any offended fans, and he has made Winnipeg proud with his coaching. Our letter was one of hundreds that got written (the Freep encouraged the letter writing campaign as a show of support). Riley came back and was very emotional describing how much it meant to him that the fans reached out and offered their thoughts and kind words, and it helped him make his decision. Talked about how special Winnipeg was and how it felt like home, and that made him re-think his move. Grace, humility, and genuine thanks to others on that moment. 3. Grey Cup win in Vancouver. In a world where coaches now all get the Gatorade bath after a win as a “salute” (it actually started with Bill Parcells as a mock celebration by his players who respected him but did not always care for his hard-ass style, and dumped Gatorade on him as revenge, figuring he’d be too happy with a win to get mad), his team instead hoisted him on their shoulders and carried him across the field in victory. Last time I ever saw a coach get that show of respect in pro football. -

4-4 in round 1. At least 3 of my wrong picks were in 7 game series, so not the worst performance. Round 2: Toronto over Florida - would love to be wrong, and frankly Toronto stole 2 games in Tampa as part of their series win, but I fear Florida exhausted themselves beating the Bruins and their emotion will be spent. But again, really hope I am wrong and Maurice continues his run to the Cup. Carolina over New Jersey - the Canes just quietly go about their business, but they are an elite team that no one gives credit to. Waiting for the Devils’ rookie goalie to start to wilt under the pressure of challenged. This could go 7 and end in OT. Edmonton over Vegas - I think Vegas is a better team, but Edmonton has much better players, Dreisaitl was a monster, and McDavid had the quietest 10 point opening round in recent memory. Wait until he gets rolling. Dallas over Seattle - still liking my “dark horse to the Cup final” call on Dallas, Oettinger is the best goalie remaining in the playoffs.
