  1. Why do you care if he gets an award? There is precedent where the player plays limited games but is so far ahead of everyone statistically (Cornish, Lemieux in the NHL). I think Collaros should win MVP, Rourke should win MOC, but if something different happens I won’t come on here and pout about the media. It’s funny how triggered some fans get if any player/team other than the Bombers gets praise. Like you need to find a reason to be upset. Tough way to live. But hey, you do you, it gives me a good laugh. And I’m happy to see a Canadian succeeding at a marquee position in this league and giving us an exciting narrative based on legit success. 90% completion rate in games, 125 QB rating, on pace for 50 TDs. Nice story.
  2. 24 year old Canadian QB putting up Flutie-like numbers this year is deemed worthy of an NFL look, but he’s also overrated. No, he really can’t be both, not at the moment. And don’t waste all your hemerrhoid cream being indignant with me. I’m sure you’ll find something else to be butt-hurt about soon enough. I think TBurg is still debating the other internet doctors, why not take a spin over there for a bit.
  3. Actually, got 27% of the 37% of the eligible voters who actually voted. Basically has the support of 10% of Manitobans right now.
  4. Glass half full - nice comeback and again they can recover from a bad period and not throw in the towel Glass half empty - when they get outplayed they REALLY get outplayed for long stretches. When Scotty Bowman was in Detroit he said the only really unforgivable things were turning the puck over at either blue line on a rush. The Jets are god-awful at that and make the worst mistakes trying to clear their own zone with passes way too much. See Kings’ goals 3 and 4.
  5. Wait, I’m confused. So is he vastly overrated? Because on the other thread everyone is saying how he’s going to garner massive interest and break the bank with his contract or get an NFL look automatically. Wish the haters could pick a lane, lol.
  6. If his podcast is half as creative and entertaining as his writing was, I will need to check this one out. Any link?
  7. I think you know I was referring to 2001.
  8. A couple of snippets I’ve read from past websites say that he was a Pentecostal pastor for 12 years before entering politics. Counsellor for St. James, ran for the Provincial PC party in 2011, was declared “anti-dog” because he did not vote for dog parks in his area, also had no position on bike paths. Will raise property taxes by 3.5% annually for the next 3 years to finance his agenda which includes widening Kenaston Blvd. and other road repairs. Was a past Chair of the Winnipeg Police Board, and a board member of the Silver Heights C. C. and Assiniboia 55+ Centre, was on the Airport Advisory Board, and initiated a Winnipeg Harvest Food Bank in the city.
  9. Idiocy like this from the media just fuels the distrust people have with polls and elections in the present-day. Allows the muckrakers to yell “fraud” and erode the Democratic process.
  10. So it could be just like last year, or just like 2001. I’ve seen the “we’re untouchable” attitude before, didn’t care for the ending of that movie. No one is disputing the Bombers are the top dogs, but BC isn’t as over-rated as some would like to believe. If one win over them with Rourke is enough to convince us that they have little chance against us and their success is smoke and mirrors, then by that logic one “Molly-whopping” by the Tiger-Cats against us should have us worried. Let’s not judge based on one game, good or bad.
  11. Exactly my point. See the post I was responding to.
  12. That, and the fact that he will have earned it, even with only nine games. No other Canadian player did as much as him.
  13. Cut down on the booze and cocaine.
  14. Without 4 dropped TD passes we lose the home game against them.
  15. That would mean we are in a one year Grey Cup drought if we go by “hoisting”.
  16. Club had a day off today before travelling to LA, so no practice session to check in on him.
  17. Maybe in the liver? Maybe in the kidneys? Maybe even in the colon?
  18. My favorite performance in “The Gentleman”, and there were more than a few to pick from in that movie.
  19. Hmmm… any chance Demski doesn’t play this week?
  20. This is not unusual for the Grey Cup to be late with this. Last year the announcement came a month out. And in 2015 the Bomber (crap show I guess?) announcement came only 26 days before the game, and I didn’t even hear it. Still a bad look.
  21. We’ve had our share of low crowds when things were on a downturn here. From 1997-1999 we had a ton of no-shows, and barely averaged 20,000 paid attendance a game even with half price or giveaway tickets to paper the house. Actual in-stadium numbers were lower. Had almost a dozen games under 20,000 with a low of 15,000 in 1999. We’ve even had low crowds with a competitive team. Hosted a playoff game in 2003 with only 22,000 in the stands, and the infamous 12,210 home playoff game in 1988 when the fans stayed away en masse because the team lost 3 straight going into the playoffs that year. Then they got hot and won the Grey Cup, and all kinds of fans twisted ankles jumping back on the bandwagon. They even made T-shirts saying “I was 1 of the 12,210” to honour the diehards who did show up at that game. They sold 50,000 of them. Even as recently as our current dynasty, we’ve had the odd low crowd in the new barn. Had only 20,900 show up for a late season game in 2019, had 3 games under 23,000 last year, and 23,500 this year for A Grey Cup re-match. Bottom line, we have a solid fan base and are riding likely the greatest run of success the league has seen in over 40 years, and we still see some empty seats, should we shouldn’t feel too superior. If we lost 17 in a row, I guarantee we’d see a lot of empty seats, based on the 1990’s precedent. Let’s just enjoy the ride for now.
