  1. Let’s not test that scenario please.
  2. Game one vs Ottawa back-up QB forced into the game cold for a last minute drive to set up a game winning field goal at the buzzer Game four at Toronto opt for a convert instead of Harris 2 point run attempt after he had dominated on the ground late, and they miss it to prevent OT. Game six vs Calgary they arguably drop 4 TD passes, for sure 2 which cost them 14 points. Game seven Collaros completes only 7 passes and the team also has only 86 total yards rushing, those kind of numbers rarely win games but it’s against the Elks. Game nine at Montreal they clang a go-ahead field goal off the goal post and then we get two quick scores off a punt return and interception deep in their end late to pull ahead. Game twelve at Saskatchewan we are down by 14 in the most hostile road environment of the year, they take a bench penalty from a player not even on the roster to kill a promising drive when we were on our heels, our kicker makes a career long, and then they are in position to re-gain the lead when we get a tipped INT deep in our end. Now before you get angry, improbable does not mean undeserved. At some point you are what your record says you are, and the team has made the big plays when needed, and other teams haven’t. And the luck of the football gods cuts both ways, as seen in game ten where we stop Montreal on a third down gamble but a toe offside gives them a fresh set to score the tying TD, and we miss two consecutive convert length field goals to go from winning to losing. But winning so many close games where one or two plays separate wins from losses feels improbable over the long haul, so I too worry about the law of averages catching up to us at some point if we keep playing only to the level of our opponent.
  3. Chris Schultz talked about entering training camp healthy but needing all the pounding reps for three weeks to basically get his body used to the pain so he could be ready for the start of the season. Maybe it’s that philosophy being used here.
  4. Individual game tickets went on sale this morning, FYI.
  5. Wonder if they will forego mentioning the Queen’s death if they are recognizing this? May be a little tricky stick-handling around both. One would be a moment of silence to acknowledge a horrible tragedy on an indigenous reserve, the other a moment to revere a beloved icon on her long life, but whose Royal status is tied to colonialism and abuse of those same indigenous peoples.
  6. The only reason to want Puljujarvi was because of what he and Laine might do as line-mates given their past together on the Finnish National team. Since that ship has sailed, thanks but no thanks.
  7. Song was first introduced in 1745 when George II was King. Changed to God Save the Queen for Victoria after the run of 4 male monarchs ended. Re-branded as God Save the King when Edward VII took the throne, then another run of 4 male monarchs until Elizabeth II reverted the song back to God Save the Queen. Despite the lopsided number of male vs female monarchs (now 9-2) since the introduction of the song in September 1745, the word “Queen” has been used just under half the time, 134 years vs 143, thanks to the much longer reigns of Victoria and Elizabeth II compared to any of the men, save for George III.
  8. Must say, credit to the back-up players for being able to step in, and our scouting staff for unearthing all these gems and giving us such depth, but also credit to our system (lots of rotation already, especially our front 7 on defence) and the coaching that creates such a seamless transition from one player to the next. Such a treat to see this organization being run so well top to bottom, and being humble about it too. No boasting, no arrogance, just going about their business, 1-0 every week, not too high after a win, not too low after a loss.
  9. Exactly. Also a great time to experiment with the new guys and see how they pan out rather than thrusting them in at playoff time. The luxury of 11-1.
  10. Week 14 update: Bombers have clinched a crossover playoff spot. Would clinch 3rd in the West with a win over Saskatchewan this weekend. Any combination of Bomber wins and Calgary losses totalling 3 clinches a home playoff game for Winnipeg. No other club can mathematically clinch this weekend.
  11. MBB posters: Mods: Thanks for all your efforts.
  12. The Jets should raise her giant portrait to the rafters for the start of this season. Would also expect the Bombers to have a moment of silence at the game this weekend.
  13. According to CTV news, portraits of the Queen in Government offices will slowly be phased out and replaced with the new Monarch. Canadian currency at this time will remain unchanged.
  14. PM identified Charles as “King Charles III” but some speculation that he might opt for “King George VII”.
  15. It is official, Queen Elizabeth II has died as age 96. Long live the King.
  16. If BA is back at safety running the back end, then I feel that Bighill can get back to just worrying about his position and not trying to compensate for the deficiencies elsewhere, and that makes us stronger in two positions. Don’t move Alexander into a Linebacker spot.
  17. Prukop telling fans to FIFO.
  18. I’m sure he couldn’t give a rat’s ass about stabilizing his position with the fans, nor should he. The patience of the fans is only as good as his next kick. Another big miss and the fair weather fans will be all over him, and another big make and they will kiss his ass and call it ice cream. For him and the team, the only importance was that it won them the game.
  19. Not after one week. * EDIT: *barring injury to one or both.
  20. He does know the offensive system and the QBs, so short term he may be a better plug-in option.
  21. I never bother reading that site, so who knows what the overall mood is, but I would suspect the forum fans are not fully representative of all fans, just like MBB likely is not the voice of every Bomber fan out there. The diehards frequent the sites so their opinions are likely more extreme. And although misguided IMO, the “outrage” reaction is not unexpected. When Brendan Dyson was run out of the league, more than a few Bomber fans screamed conspiracy on the old website and claimed the league and TSN were out to unfairly get us with the “Dyson cam” focus, rather than acknowledging that the player was truly dirty as opposed to “hard nosed”. Over time and given the benefit of reflection, fans have changed the narrative and acknowledged that he did not belong in the league either. Typical of any fan base. Thankful that the current Bomber team culture has rubbed off to an extent on the fan base and we won’t make knee jerk excuses for bad apples if they are on our team, for the most part.
  22. TBurg revelling in stirring it up again.
  23. FIFY. When in doubt, always go for the meme. 🤣
