Not sure what his status is today, but he got hurt early in the Hamilton game and did not return. Just an FYI.

Don’t need to imagine, saw what happened when a black man knelt during an anthem. Multiply x 1 million.

Was just responding to the question “why would TSN assume we want to watch interviews when no other network does them”. Was just pointing to an example of how the NFL does a whole game of it and it draws a lot of eyeballs and is seen as a fun innovation. As for your advice, you could follow it yourself with all the Suitor hate. Mute the TV, synchronize the OB broadcast from the radio or streaming to the video. You have choices as well.

Jock Climie would call them “the worst 2-0 team out there right now”. But this team is going to be judged on what it does in November, not now. As long as they bank wins and position themselves well for the playoffs, there is enough experience and talent to improve on stuff so no real concern yet. Remember last year’s start where we beat Hamilton but our secondary looked shaky, beat Toronto but their run game dominated us, we lost somewhat convincingly in Toronto, and but for an offside allowing a do-over on the winning field goal, and a just missed last second FG attempt from the usually reliable Paredes would have lost at home to Calgary. Then some cream puff games against Edmonton. It wasn’t until BC that we looked like the monster that the team became. So unless the “Grey Cup hangover” complacency last for another 4 weeks and we start losing games due to carelessness and don’t bounce back in anger, I see it as just a blip. I’ll check in again if I feel a trend is developing. Being a two-time defending champion does allow for some calm perspective and peace of mind during the turbulence that other teams can’t afford. -
At the risk of being called contrarian (which let’s face it some will do any time I comment, so let’s just go ahead) the most popular or at least most talked about innovation in NFL broadcasts is having the Manning brothers sit in their rec rooms a country apart jawing about things and having guests on during the broadcast, with the actual play by play a distant second in terms of focus, and the game itself in a small box in the corner. And college football does that “5 different telecasts” lunacy for the championship with the game-long sideline reports, advanced stats booth, in studio commentary and pretty much anything other than a “normal” broadcast. So it’s not like the CFL is doing something other broadcasts aren’t doing in their own way. Now do I like it? Absolutely not. And certainly it doesn’t seem like most die hard purists do either, judging by the message board responses. But it’s about attracting new eyeballs with new gimmicks. They are not at risk of losing the folks at MBB with this new approach (people enjoy screaming about their hatred of Suitor in multiple posts more than just muting him and synching the radio broadcast, it’s like a drinking game), so they won’t worry about angry comments so long as those comments keep coming. I think it is being poorly executed and a bad concept, but it seems to be the way of the future in most leagues, not solely the CFL, and my demographic is the way of the past. So right or wrong, I think that’s why TSN assumes some (not us, but a target demo they want) want to see a new wrinkle.

Funny, Suitor was the one who said the call should go both ways. I guess when he says something pro-Bomber it doesn’t count, right? -

Question - if a team takes or draws a penalty during a one or two-point convert attempt and the play is a do-over with penalty yardage applied, can the converting team change their choice of convert from one point to two point or vice versa? -

So while the feed went down after the Ottawa INT. 2 and out for Ottawa, Augustine gets in and rips off a 23 yard run, RedBlack INT called back in a penalty, and Collaros sacked again. So not much action missed. -

There’s always the radio if you want. 😁 To be honest, you’re not missing much so far game-wise. -

2022 CFL Season - Non Back 2 Back Champs News

That sounds like a nice set-up. That makes sense to me. I was just confused by the original statement because it came across as “I bought this really nice jersey but I’m afraid to ever wear it because it might get dirty, so I’m never going to”. If they said it was on display or the intent of the purchase was to display it all along it would make sense to me. -

Ok. Whatever one’s preference is. I have my replica ones displayed in my work office, the customized fan ring I got I wear all the time. Polish it up if it gets dull. Again, to each their own, I just know I didn’t drop a lot of cash on a clothing item to keep it hidden away, and if I wasn’t going to seal it in a glass frame and was worried about staining it, I’d have second thoughts about getting it in the first place. -
I would love to see a return to good old fashioned wrap up tackling techniques rather than the “kill shot” shoulder checks so many DBs throw these days. So I would be on board with your rule change for that purpose alone. I wonder if we will ever see a change to flag football flags, at least for QBs, to protect them from harm during sacks (since they are more immobile than other players and can be teed off on more easily).

I get that if they are framed and on permanent display. But I wonder why someone would spend hundreds on clothing that is just going to hang in a closet because you don’t want to get it dirty? Ah well, to each their own. -
In a perfect world I’d agree, but the first time a QB ducked into a sack and exposed his head to contact to draw a defensive penalty, or there is dispute about “head” vs “shoulder” point of impact (see Brandon Alexander against Toronto last year) that hurts your home team, watch the fans boards go ballistic and scream for a return to the old rule.

Yeah. John, Bill, Mary, Joe, Colleen, and Pete.

Google says two wins and seven total nominations.

Reminder that the ratings went up at halftime in the Grey Cup when Keith Urban performed (by about 400,000 eyeballs). It certainly was the only time all the wives at my Cup party came into the den from the kitchen and were glued to the TV (they also returned for the interview and told the men to shush). When Beiber and Carly Rae Jepson performed at the extremely reviled half time show in Toronto for Grey Cup 100, ratings jumped 600,000 people. This was totally a management decision in my mind. Suitor has his faults, and if you want to find confirmation bias to support him or tear him apart, lots of his statements can be spun to the interpretation that suits your mindset. But I don’t think he’s stupid. He and TSN are playing to an audience to get ratings and draw in more fans, so giving the diehards on fan sites the elevated commentary we expect is probably not their goal. We are watching no matter what. It’s the younger, newbie, and less knowledgeable fans they want to bring in, so the commentary gets simplified, the rock ‘n’ roll eye candy gets spotlighted, and pumping up success stories about fan bases and what a great time a CFL game is (see the focus on the BC crowd, concert, pre-game tailgating, and Rourke’s cool grandma pounding back beers) is the agenda they want to sell. JMO.

If flagging every instance did nothing more than teach players to wrap up and tackle rather than throwing shoulder checks, I’m all for it.
