  1. As long as he’s walking and not driving, any combination is fine by me.
  2. Well, since both back-ups seem to be dressing, I’m going to have to see how they choose to run their short yardage/goal line offence before committing to a pick. So although I say a Bomber back-up will score a TD tonight, since I can’t be sure which name to pick I will take Lucky Whitehead at home against the Elks as my pick for week 1
  3. By the way, this will also be my reaction to what I fear will be another underwhelming banner “raising”.
  4. I thought Trotz himself said he would not make a decision on any team until the playoffs were done.
  5. He could have owned the city had we won a Cup with him, but the stories about his lack of motivation to practice or get in shape, added to the off-field reports about his casual attitude to getting game-ready and focussed, and his extra-curricular activities on top of that, has really soured his legacy for some.
  6. That is the best Rider joke I have seen in a while, and there are plenty to choose from. Straight up spat out my drink on that one. Kudos.
  7. Since the list is almost entirely based on last year’s performances, it would 6 of the top 7 were Bombers. It may require a few years and some historical distance to fully put it into perspective, and the shorter season may skew the objective comparative stats, but a very compelling argument can be made that we just witnessed the greatest all-around team in Blue Bomber history last year. For a franchise that’s 92 years old, take a moment and reflect on that.
  8. Two days left. And today’s choice is non-negotiable. From Notre Dame and SI to one of the greatest Grey Cup finishes ever in Ottawa, and ending the first great Bomber Cup drought, here is my favourite Bomber QB ever.
  9. That is top shelf! Well done and thanks Starman.
  10. Three days left and one of the best Bomber gifs ever involving 3 players including our #3:
  11. The way Wayne Newton pronounces it in the song is actually incorrect.
  12. Everyone’s favourite #4 jersey:
  13. I’d pick the Bomber back-up QB but I don’t know who it is yet!
  14. You may have just found the tagline for the internet.
  15. So if he gets gets cut, will we say he’s “been Shoen the door”? I’ll let myself out.
  16. Once again for today: Something old Something new Something borrowed Loves the zoo
  17. No one will be considered as the heir apparent to Cameron as the greatest punter ever until they have played minimum 12-15 years in the league. Let’s face it, Cameron was stellar in bad weather and may have been one of the most cerebral punters out there, but in terms of pure talent he is not the best punter who has played (as opposed to the “greatest” which is more of an anointed title by accomplishment - 3 Grey Cups and one really memorable performance). It is his longevity that probably accounts for 75% of his greatness. Yes, you have to be very good to hang around that long, but even Cameron himself said when Westwood came along he knew Westy could put-punt him 7 days a week, but his tenure with Cal Murphy saved him, and he made a point of buddying up to Troy and worked on the placekicking stuff to keep him happy and away from punting duties. And Jon Ryan was certainly more naturally skilled (distance and hang time) with a much stronger leg. Neat re-cap of the 1988 Grey Cup and how Cameron recognized and adapted to the wind conditions, and how he used BCs coverage tactics against them. Cal Murphy said on more than one occasion that having Bob around was like having an extra coach. https://www.bluebombers.com/2017/11/24/grey-cup-long-read-remembering-1988/
  18. The Suitor and Rod Black comments are a lot more about hate than “just discussion”.
  19. Today’s number is 6, so I thought he t 6 different versions of the jersey made sense. Fortunately the Bombers have one player who modelled them all.
  20. There already is a traumatized generation that is fearful. It was created on 9/11, when the USA got a well-placed kick in its complacency that it was an unassailable empire protected by the ocean from any attack. Rather than re-assessing their foreign policy or adopting the British-style “stiff upper lip” that sustained them during the WW2 bombings, the States opted to ramp up their xenophobia and isolationism in a false effort to preserve their myth of “greatest country on earth” and “toughest cop on the beat”, seeing boogeymen on every corner and arming for anticipated insurgency because they had no real identifiable enemy country to fight.
