I would modify this a bit and say some people 'adopt' a certain ideology because they are lazy thinkers with no critical thinking skills, have had a horrible upbringing mixed with certain genetic and environmental dispositions (this is my provocative statement of the day). My description of this type of person happens across the whole continuum of left middle right. Then what happens, (Ted Koppel expressed this when talking with Sean Hannity), these same people are encouraged/targeted to place this adopted ideology over actual fact. Again this way of operating is not reserved for any certain type of ideology. The big however though is the trump administration, it's media outlets and it's 38% (+ or -3) support base have really committed and gone all in on this process.

I did and I agree with you but if the NYT's has to do an article about reading between the lines, you know the spinmeisters will be out in full force.
-
Is it really though? To me, your statement is true if there is little wiggle room for alternate interpretations. Having to 'read between the lines' takes away it's explosiveness.

You just know nothing will come of Comey's testimony regardless of it's significance. SNL got it right when they reenacted Lester Holt's interview with Trump a while back. Is that it, did we get him? No, nothing matters anymore. Climax meet anticlimax.

Unfortunately (I mean that, it's exhausting) I've been following this circus for some time now and it really feels it's nowhere near this. Yea, some things happening here, something things happening there, but it really seems he's bunkered down well with his appropriate lieutenants in place. I think a few other posters have made similar previous comments in that the thing that will ultimately have him drift off into the sunset is he'll just run out of steam, run out of energy, get bored and he'll just tap out, reminding people along the way he won. He comes across as a cranky opinionated ill-informed, self-absorbed rich older guy who you would think can't keep up this pace of surreal whatever you call what's been going on since his campaigning, the election and his present governing. Right?

I'm really beginning to dislike human beings.

I don't think so. I think it might highlight their need to be more active throughout the season and nearing the trading deadline to ensure they have the best team possible for post season. Sort of like can't rest on their laurels type thinking. They still finished with 109 points and the most regulation time wins (50) in the league. However this means nothing if they can't make it past the first round. -
He better have his head on a swivel tonight.

Orridge to Step Down as Commissioner
HardCoreBlue replied to Jimmy Pop's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
How about Matt Dunigan? My level of respect for him has increased ever since he went full disclosure of the impacts concussions have had on him and his family and his genuine love for CFL football evident in his broadcasts. Sort of the yes we need to make this game as safe as possible but never stop balling hard. I love watching games he does the colour. -
I think for a lot of people, it's not calling for his head on one particular gaffe or accusing him of something he isn't, it's calling for his head on his constant trending of massive gaffes. Once a mistake twice a trend sort of thing. In the work and personal world, a lot of us are judged that way.

And to unpack that even more, there is a difference between using a poor choice of words to articulate something you do indeed understand versus using a poor choice of words to articulate something you don't understand.

Game 82 : Predators @ 1 Game Left

That makes him a no name? Not in my books. -
If you're a true professional athlete it's never okay regardless of who is available in the draft. That's my educated guess in how Blake Wheeler would respond to this statement and it's my guess that this mentality is one of the main reasons he wears the C.

Agree with most of what you write here but Bryan Little a role player? When healthy he's more than a role player for this team imo. -
Yup agree.

I hope Nichols makes all of this talk about other Qb's a moot point for this upcoming season. We're due. It's our year. After 20 umpteen years optimism still going strong. There's no alternative. How long into the season we start saying Go Jets Go? November?

Trump says based on he what he has read on this matter, no wrong doing here AND Trump has stated he is a very instinctual person. Therefore, matter closed. Oh and April has been declared by Trump National Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

There's worse third stringers we could bring in. Nothing wrong with bringing him in and seeing how he looks with his hat on backwards, pencil in hand with a clip board.

When I saw this I thought he's still with the team? Makings of a great coach killer. -
Exactly but Trump defending and encouraging Flynn to seek immunity so he can tell the 'real' story. Sort of supports my feel of what Flynn wants to do. Get up there lie, distract and befuddle and not be formally held accountable for his words. Fits the current administration's mo. It seems at this point prosecution not falling for it.
-
I so hope your tin foil isn't working, I really do. At this point, I have a feeling this is nowhere near the stage of impeach proceedings. If one thing this administration (like previous administrations but way off the wall different and impactful) are experts at and I mean experts, is the constant barrage of distractions (hey what's that over there) and befuddlement (Ideology over fact to borrow Ted Koppel's argument). This current administration has caused a lot of people from different walks of life, especially in the media, to have this incredulous exhausted look of bewilderment on their faces (i.e., jaw drop) while laughing nervously. And laughing not because it's funny. I would think for a great many of us around the world, regardless of our beliefs, regardless of our ideologies, regardless of our experiences and opinions, just want all of this to go away, no?
-
Or, as his lawyer is a bit implying, he comes out guns ablazing, defending Trump and himself, lies threw his teeth but has immunity from prosecution . . .

Again, the way this will be positioned is big desperately needed things for our Country require tough tough decisions by a person with conviction and courage. His low ratings will be rationalized to prove that. He is getting things done that need to be done and the low ratings prove that. Needed monumental change will be hard. 'I'm not here to make people happy, I'm here to make America great again'. I need a shower.

Game 76 : Canucks @ 7 Games Left
HardCoreBlue replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Even if he is, meaningless games means less pressure. It's the pressure games that Hutchinson shows his true colors. Thanks but no thanks.
