  1. Nonpartisan analysts. This label intrigues me. Just came across it in reading the latest in US health reforms and comments attributed to people who are labelled this way. Can it be done? I think some of us try to do it (aspire?) hoping our batting average in accomplishing it is above average but knowing it won't be 1,000.
  2. You know I love you because you're a Bomber and Jet fan, but your constant two wrongs make a right, make it less serious, make it whatever doesn't add up. To me it's lazy thinking, path of least resistance. For some of us, to use politics as an example because that's what we happen to be discussing here, some of us acknowledge the hypocrisies. Sometimes it's legitimate to state previous behaviours were just as bad. In a way though, ironically it supports the original premise being true. And, to use your most recent example, if Clinton's administration was just as bad as you imply, we can't go back in time. We can't fix that. As a collective we can though deal with the here and now and challenge serial lying and significant distortion of facts when it's coming from people who have significant decision making authorities. I refuse to take the 'everyone does it, everyone has done it' approach.
  3. Actually I don't think that's the argument. The argument I see put forward by some is if a man conducts himself like her, he's seen as brilliant, assertive and is doing what he has to do but simply because she is a woman she as seen as a ***** with no class and sense of decency. However in this particular case for some like myself, what we struggle with has nothing to do with gender.
  4. So if you haven't won a cup, a divisional title you're a loser?
  5. I'm a hardcore Buff fan and will continue to be but I agree. The giveways I've seen him commit over the last while are of the peewee nature, his head and heart seem to drift away at times.
  6. Are you kidding me? The Jets outplayed the Flames in the first but typical us no finish. I've had the unfortunate pleasure of watching the Flames and Oilers for the past 12 years and the Flames seem to me at best an average team. Always boring team to watch, but yes I know they're winning. I guess they bore teams into a lull. I love my Jets but what a frustrating team to watch sometimes. Oh and Ehlers for the love of goodness shoot the damn puck.
  7. In relation to on-field uncertainties for me with Vince Young: How mobile is he? What's his arm strength for the CFL field? How quickly will he be able to adapt to the Canadian game? What kind of leader/team player is he? What kind of protection at minimal will he need to play to his strengths? Will he be in game shape come training camp? When is the last time he has played at professional game speed? I'm sure there are more specific uncertainties/unknowns that real football people are thinking other than coming from an arm chair QBing person like me.
  8. Some might argue worth the penalty if that's the case.
  9. Paging Dustin Byfuglien Paging Dustin Byfuglien.
  10. Granola eating, tree hugging hippie.
  11. I love you like a brother (or sister) I've never wanted :-), but what exactly are the Jets playing for? Just to have a bit of fun with this, let's play fantasy land where you are the head coach with real NHL head coach responsibilities. You are no longer a logical loyal fan who knows what this team should do. You are in the hot seat. It's all on you know, everyone is watching. What approach do you (or any others here who want to play) take in coaching this team? Imo you can't have it both ways where you coach them to try to win but you hope you lose because your team would ultimately benefit from it. Try saying that to the media. My guess is that approach is it wouldn't even fly in camera. You are dealing with very competitive individuals who want/and know how to win. To keep with the path you've (and others here) have been on for some time now and what you (and others) believe needs to happen to achieve a lot of things you (and others) believe is needed for this club, you would be sitting most of our core players e.g., NE, BW, DB, MS, TE, JT, BL, TM (if healthy) which would have happened weeks ago. You'd probably still dress PL and CH for development purposes. You then would dress our top prospects playing in the AHL or currently in the press box. I assume that's the approach you would take based on your continuing posts for some weeks now? I myself coach the team my GM has given me (with my influence hopefully) by focusing our efforts every game to win to make the playoffs. Until we are mathematically eliminated that's what we do because i can't have it both ways. We field the best team possible (which comes with some tough decisions based on current production, injuries, the strengths of our next opponent and what we need to do to combat it, maybe I have some differences of opinions with my ac's etc etc). When that crappy time comes, I then think development. (see above). I'm not necessarily defending PM here because he has indeed made some odd decisions since being here, but it's easy as a fan to say this is what the Jets are playing for with no skin in the game. It's a tough gig that I respect anyone in that position has (which doesn't mean I like them or don't think they should be relieved).
  12. I hear what you're saying but where I pulled that quote was when PM was giving a bit of a dig to Mike Babcock on how they approach younger players and what the expectations are of them. So to go back to your analogy, I'm not going to buy those lottery tickets just yet because I don't believe at all I have a chance of winning.
  13. "I don't ever want to walk into a season not wanting to win the Stanly Cup'. Paul Maurice. Like him or not as both sides have valid arguments, this is the mentality of a coach I want leading this team, whether it's Paul Maurice or someone else.
  14. You've just summed up in five words that there are still good sincere people in politics regardless of stripes, ideology and beliefs. These are the people 'we' need to get behind, trying to get them back in and/or ensure they remain on the playing field. "We' can be a mix of public citizens from all walks of life and perspectives, politicians from all stripes and colors, influential business and entertainment gurus etc etc. That's where real change happens.
  15. Ladies and Gentlemen, the President of the United States.
  16. Well said. After the loss against the Wild, I was reminded yet again of how maddening and frustrating more times than not to watch our team, to get us thinking they are finally turning the corner then WAM!, car wreck. My wife, two children and two dogs do not enjoy football and hockey seasons. Who is he talking to? is the common question around here. To be able to function, we are just like the players, we need to have very short memories.
  17. Correct on both fronts. However, I'll just add a little bit to the latter one: Just win baby so I can shove all those statistics, percentages, logic, memes and gifs up the naysayers a** But I do love all loyal MBB posters here, no offense. :-)
  18. It sure would be funny if you could. Imagine the interview had with the puck on his new team?
  19. Just to briefly jump in on this from a non-political point of view but to use the current U.S.A political landscape as an example, the statement I bolded from part of your sentence is being questioned from every angle imaginable and unimaginable. It would seem, regardless of issue and at times apparent straightforwardness, no one in the U.S.A political environment is safe in saying this about anything about anyone without being challenged, befuddled or countered. Imho, I don't think I'm exaggerating here. I don't know about anyone else but I find it very very exhausting, and at times very very bizarre like I feel I may not be seeing things that some other people are seeing. That's why I love saying this at times: Go Jets Bombers Go.
  20. Love the hashtag, outstanding.
  21. However Boston is assured a playoff spot just yet.
  22. I just threw-up in my mouth.
