Troy Westwood's response about sask fans being banjo playing in-bred folk and then retracting saying some of them probably don't play the banjo. The rest, as we know, is history.

And you seriously believe this? That he is in the dog house due to his oh so brash interview? Lol.. Ok. Ill stick with the fact hes limping and has been reported by management and media as hurt. Anyway, I think brohm has earned his chance to start (one game) to prove he deserves to be here. I also think hes shown all he can otherwise and it really ought to be make or break. Brohm sure will be an anomaly if, after consistently sucking coming in off the bench, we give him the start and he lights it up.

Oooh. My nipples are hard.... Did I miss the Lemon signing? I thought he was, at most, average when he played for us. I haven't been following him at all since he left. I assume he's improved his play to warrant this type of attention?
-
I think some of us are saying there's always room for improvement controlling for the offense's inadequacies.
-
Sask will throw Messam at us as much as they can, we need to stop it early and hard.
-
I would love to see that happen and listen to what the TSN commentators say, 'It's all about field position Gord'.
-
Does he start next game? Is Brohm shown the door to make room?

Just for sh*ts and giggles? to raid their playbook Even if it's for only two games, I'd rather rely on game tape.

Blowouts & Emergency Surgery: Buck
HardCoreBlue replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Like ISO - I'm getting sick of this. And it's deja vu - as I had the same attitude in March - I had pretty much 'officially' dropped the Oilers and decided I was going to go back to cheering for the Jets. However, the draft Lottery and subsequent house cleaning that happened in the Oiler front office has me back on their side (remember folks - the Jets LEFT and even then it took me to the '06 run before I could start investing emotionally in the Oilers and you just don't turn these things 'off'' - at least I don't). Eskimos are slowly growing on me - and the bombers are slowly dying in me. Another year or two of this (and especially if the Eskimos go to another Grey Cup) and I may become a complete sell out and the Eskimos may become my team. I get where you're coming from with this... especially when Edm seems to be very well run for the most part... if I lived in Edm or Cgy I could see myself jumping ship, or at least making them my 1A... but I'd never officially give up on the Bombers... just too emotionally invested my entire life I've lived in the Edm area for 11 years now and that will never happen. I don't know how it could. -
Serious question, if Brohm does indeed start, realistically, what would he have to do, other than win, to continue on with this team?
-
Yes,it could result in other firings depending how the games go.

Markus Howell as the new OC - Free Press
HardCoreBlue replied to dmillerywg's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
From what you've seen with Marve, with coaching and reps, does he have the talent to be a legitimate CFL QB? -
Which was exactly what the panel were alluding to in how the Bombers react when down Coaching? Players? Both.

Like Mark F alluded to, your analysis emphasizes the importance of our run game which is basically non-existent from a consistent point of view. I still think a bigger back like a Messam type (one in shape though) would at least help (maybe?) alleviate some of the lack of skill at the QB/Line positions. And if Marve can't get out of the pocket based on the Defense, take what the defence gives us and dink and dunk down the field, we have the receivers for that, especially Moore.

You can't be serious... Geez man, it seems sometimes, not always, that anytime a person posts something that runs counter to what you believe, you respond with these type statements. The hypocrisy is dripping here. I think some of us take more of an eclectic approach to politics and sensitive issues by not branding our ideologies as left, center or right. We take it issue by issue using the best facts available to form our perspectives. We sometimes don't get it right but always try to take an evidence-informed approach, identifying any bias's we may have a long the way. We can't brand ourselves with only one political strip but we can always aspire to be a sound critical thinker hopefully adding value to the discussion. Ummm you might want to come up with your own stuff but if you can't please apply it correctly.

Good point, I just think this is a special situation that requires an exception to the normal protocol. I just think we could take advantage of this situation for one game against one of the best teams in the league where we let Simmons freelance on his former team. Historically we sometimes see players kick it into another gear when they play their former team in such a short turnaround where things are still festering fresh. Ultimately, big picture, what's the risk? He sucks, okay, we put him back on the PR after the game no harm, no foul.
-
I'm not getting this one. I would ask Coach O'Shea, what would be the significant impact to this team if Simmons started? Was it Richie Hall's influence that made this decision? The guy's playing his former team with very recent history festering, put him in!

If you were glad I asked, then why didn't you answer the question? Why are the other two guys better options? Instead of just cutting and pasting rhetoric prepared for you by union-sponsored NDP propaganda arms, why not give me positive reasons why the other guys are better? Starting off your entire post with more blarney about Harper being the worst prime minister ever just guarantees I am going to tune out whatever you have to say, as it is going to just be more biased left-wing crap. When Harper goes on a train trip across Canada with his family, and is greeted at every whistle stop with people throwing eggs and yelling **** YOU!! at the train, like people did in 1982 with Pierre Trudeau, then I'd agree, Harper is in the same area code as Trudeau was in terms of being the worst. Right now, he's not even in the same solar system as the suckage experienced by Canada under Trudeau. And anyone who says otherwise is just wearing partisan blinders. Geez man, it seems sometimes, not always, that anytime a person posts something that runs counter to what you believe, you respond with these type statements. The hypocrisy is dripping here. I think some of of us take more of an eclectic approach to politics and sensitive issues by not branding our ideologies as left, center or right. Montreal Fires Higgins, Popp to be Interim HC
HardCoreBlue replied to Rich's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
mmm I guess, it may mean something to the person receiving it. My point though was he must be doing something right that suggests he didn't all of a sudden become a bad coach moving his team from Elite to Crap. -
Montreal Fires Higgins, Popp to be Interim HC
HardCoreBlue replied to Rich's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Popp and Wettenhall must be living in a fantasy world to blame Higgins for not having Calvillo leading the team on the field. Higgins is not superhuman and has made a few mistakes, but if Popp thinks this is going to salvage the season and go 12 and 6 or such, he's off his meds. 6 and 12 is far more likely, considering the lack of talent and/or experience behind center. Wasn't Higgins in the running for coach of the year last season . . . -
Montreal Fires Higgins, Popp to be Interim HC
HardCoreBlue replied to Rich's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Maybe that's what the fans want and Poop, I mean Popp, is just delivering. It is Montreal. Obviously the decision to release Higgins was decided prior to the BC game. Poppy's issue is his ego, which can at times make him look like a genius or a complete fool. In this particular case, I hear most siding for the latter. -
Well, sure, and I'd take a Lotto Max win.......... Buff would get us a very good return. Look at what dmen were going for at the deadline, & none of them were as good as Buff. Which tells me other teams also believe Buff is an elite utility player hard to find in this league. I don't think that's overrating him as some say.

This is the most moronic statement on this board since I tried to say Patrick Lavoie was a franchise player. Crucify Bucknor but give Hurl a pass... ridiculous. Woods, Elimimian/Bighill, Sherritt, Simpson, Reed/Lawrence Yeah, you only NEED an allstar MLB if you want to win... that's all. Moot point - Jasper Simmons replaces Hurl next week anyway. Well just as a comparison Hurl has more tackles than Sherritt does... so what's your criteria for LBs then? Passport? Hurl isn't a super star but he's not a liability either. BC has had a defence for a while that puts a lot of it on the middle linebacker, makes sense to do that when you have guys like Elemimian and Bighill back there, but that's only one way to play D. I'd agree with that somewhat. One flaw I've seen with Hurl is he lacks peripheral vision when pursuing. This has resulted in him being pancaked on more than one occasion. i.e., he seems easy to block on sweeps etc.

That's where I differ. My opinion is they are both equally important to this team for similar and unique reasons which will be challenging to replace based on current market availability.

I've never played offensive line nor coached it but I'm curious that when it comes to OL's poor play, there is usually no mention of the OL coach and his accountability. Is the problem with poor OL performance always/usually just talent?
