It's time for the Riders to start sucking ...
HardCoreBlue replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'm sure a big chunk of those fans are driving in from Calgary for the game. Considering it's only half Stampeder fans at McMahon for games against the Riders, not even a chance. Obviously some, but not many. That's total bullshit. That's why I hate & totally disrespect the Rider fanbase when they post total garbage like this. The Stamps have 24,000 season tickets in a 35.000 seat stadium. So how do nearly 20,000 Rider fans get in? Most of the fans there cheering for the Riders are drunken douchebags. Give me a frigging break. Ok sorry, that was an exaggeration, but they still fill it up a decent bit. Anyhow, there aren't going to be that many Stamps fans in Regina. There will obviously be a few as always, but not "a big chunk". Yeah but when you go to a game in Calgary vs. the Bombers there's a ton of Bomber fans in there too, when the Lions are in town there's a ton of Lions fans. That's just what happens when you are in a city with a large population that has moved there from out of province. The Riders aren't some unique fanbase, especially when it comes to Calgary. Exactly, in so many facets. Well maybe one. Unique in not knowing their not unique when it comes to positives. -
Went to school with him and got to know him, and never knew him to be a sports fan. Which is why when he was holding the cup on center stage I had to think it was all about politics and not about actually being a fan. But who knows. I'd like to see him work to help out the Flames and Stamps with better infrastructure, since Edmonton is getting a new arena. Mcmahon is rapidly becoming the shittiest stadium in Canada, and will win the title as soon as Regina's stadium is done. You went to school? Wow, didn't see that coming. Couldn't resist, sorry, carry on :-)

Have you satisfied your curiousity? People have opinions. I wanted to read them. Opinion - the Argo receivers celebrating every single catch like they caught a TD in the superbowl is far more ridiculous than anything the Ticats are doing. And it's an opinion I had prior to the weekend's game. One of my biggest pet peeves regardless of team. The other? Defensive players showboating after making a tackle when the offensive player makes big yards. Ridiculous. Get up, line up and make sure he doesn't do it again.

The Day Early Game Day Thread - TOR @ WPG

Starts with H, ends in ajrullahu. He's extremely inconsistent, especially as a punter. He can hit a coffin corner kick and then 5 minutes later hit one right up the seam 25 yards away from where it needs to be. Stoudermire has stunk too, although better this week in that he didn't have any backbreaking gaffes. On the whole special teams has been pretty good otherwise. Took the words right out of my mouth. -

Why did O'Shea put them in that position? With a 20-14 lead the Bombers are stopped on offense deep in their own end. O'Shea sends LH out to punt from his own end zone. Lirim out-kicks the coverage and the Argos bring the punt all the way to the house. Score: 21-20 Argos. The game is over at this point as the momentum shifts in Toronto's favour and the Bombers never score another point. Why doesn't O'Shea have LH take a safety giving up two points. The argos then can: a. Scrimmage at their own 35-yard line, b. kickoff from their own 35-yard line or, c. Accept a kickoff from the 25-yard line of the team who conceded the safety touch. Either way, we preserve the lead at 20-16 and probably gain tremendous field position? Isn't this another coaching blunder of epic proportions by O'Shea that proves he doesn't know what he is doing out there? Am I wrong about the safety? Yes you are wrong. The way the defense was playing there's no reason to give the safety. Hajrullahu was kicking with a strong wind, should have been able to net 45 on that kick easy. Hajrullahu hit a terrible punt in the middle of the field. The goal is to put it between the numbers and the sideline. Just a terrible kick, no coaching mistakes, unless you think we should get a better punter. Exactly. And to boot (wow, I did a pun) he made an extremely weak attempt at tackling. He's got to make that tackle, I don't care he's the kicker, I'm sure he's been taught. Brutal. Entertaining game to watch. For his first game as starter with us, Marve played well, really liked his involvement with the team, his energy, how he hung in the pocket knowing he's going to take a hit. Especially liked how he went over to LH after kicking a FG. Cam Marshall seems to be a keeper. As per JBR's point last week, our from four played really well. Milt made an excellent point at half time about some players forgetting the basics of football in form tackling and blocking and more on wanting that sport centre highlight. Milt's my man. As much as I loathe the Argo's, I got to say I'm a Kackert fan now. Loved how he told Sara O how he felt after the Bass hit and loved how he explained missing the team feeling when they score a TD. I'd take him on my team any day. -
Or how much playing a team with no offence at all helps. How can you tell which it is? Other than extreme cases, it's usually a mesh of both that explains why things happened the way it did. E.g., 21 plays were a result of good defensive play. 19 plays were a result offensive poor execution.

On D, most of it's been said our knowledgeable posters, I'd add in some half back blitzes and spy for QB sneaks, draws. On O, take what they give me, so I now become an efficient pocket passer, establish the run, blend in screens, quick hits, with the occasional deep ball. Use a similar offensive gameplan we did with the Lions. Oh special teams need to really step up and support our young QB, i.e., field position, field goals etc. Result: Bombers 28 Argos 5 :-)

Frame this post and call it 'bandwagon jumper'.

If I was Creehan, I'm bringing the heat a lot and when I'm not, I'm faking that I'm bringing the heat. We have shown we struggle with this style of defense.

Agree with what u are saying. Austin never shuts it down. If he was calling off the dogs he would have pulled Collaros out of the game. Yeah Austin is the kind of ******* who would love to win a game 62-0, there is no way his team shuts it down. Hell after the back to back picks he basically went and bitched slapped everyone on offense for it. Killer instinct is a huge advantage in a coach. Never fun to be on the receiving end of those games. Jones in Edm is the same way, the esks are going to pound you with that dline for 60 minutes, no mercy. it absolutely is. Those two are guys who not only want to beat you they want to beat you into a bloody pulp and make you question everything about your team. There is no letting up for them, you just play your hardest every single snap of the game doesn't matter the score is. To be honest with you, I thought O'Shea would be that kind of coach when you guys hired him. Mike was ultra mean on the field when he played. A guy you always wanted to keep an eye on. I figured a O'Shea coached team would be a mean group. Not insulting the Bombers and saying they aren't tough or anything, but that really hasn't been o shea's style a head coach. Even on special teams in Toronto he was mean and had a fiery unit when he coached there. Honestly I think he is but maybe his assistant coaches aren't and he's not really a meddling type. Ritchie Hall has been a pretty passive defensive coordinator for a while and Bellefool is soft as baby **** on offence. He's sort of hamstrung because with how many coaches the team has fired no one wants to coach here. It sure does seem like that based on their overall play to date. Very conservative. Does he have the players that fit into his preferred system? Maybe he's being passive because he's adjusting the system to what he has available.

Riders are only 8500 days short to catch up to your last grey cup win. Well let's going even more big picture. What's 10-4? -
Week 6 other games, other teams
HardCoreBlue replied to Fatty Liver's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I've said from day one I would take Tate if available. He's probably the best second string QB in the league right now. Ask Sask and us about that importance. -
I'd settle for not giving up first downs simply because we're playing a VERY soft zone .. This line has always intrigued me. What would be a hard zone outside of playing man to man?

The Day Early Game Day Thread - BC @ WPG

But after way too many steamboats. That play had way too much time to materialize, which put the DB/safety in a bind. BC a few times ran a three man attack on us and they get a sack. Lulay's a mobile QB who moves around a lot. Lulay, for the most part, had time to go threw his reads last night, at least that's what I saw. I yelled at the TV a lot because of that. All I'm saying is out of all the areas needed to improve our defense, as this is a passing league, that would be my number one, because everything else dominoes from there. I think the commentators mentioned last night we're eighth in passes completed against. You must count fast. They know that BC is going downfield with the ball, so priority one is to hold the rush lanes so Lulay can't slip out and run for 20 yards because the LB's and DB's will be clearing out in coverage, then get pressure upfield. Gibson was in the backfield all night and the refs probably could have called BC's tackles for a dozen holds on him. I believe they called about 5 on Gibson, many were declined. Thomas was a monster against the run, but crashing into the pocket too. Nobody can block Collins and it's clear that he's picking up how to play the yard of the ball and the wider gaps. Johnson played all over the field, end, 3 technique and linebacker. If our DL plays like that every game the defense won't be giving up many points and will probably be scoring some, or at least turning the ball over so our offence can score easily. Oh oh JBR has spoken, I'm done. :-) Good analysis, makes sense. Still not sold on the fact that our DL regularly hurried Lulay into making bad decisions, Lulay just seemed to be off for other reasons. If I had the time, I'd rewatch the game looking for what you've pointed out. I don't have the time, but will do it for next game :-). -
Yes, however what gives me hope is last night's game showed we do indeed have the ability to defend that pressure with hitches, screens, quick hits, counters etc

Actually I saw different. I thought BC most times picked up our blitzes well and handled our front four fairly regularly. Imo BC's issue a lot of times was their audible calling thanks to the crowd noise. Not to mention the fact Arsenault was no where to be seen, except at the end of the game where he demonstrated his frustration. I thought two of the picks and overall good defensive play were more of the athleticism and intelligence of our DB's/HB's and linebackers. -

I agree. Willy managed the game very well. Defense made the adjustments needed. Crowd noise was amazing, well done. Only major sore point for me still is our front four, a few good plays but overall, no push. On average, Lulay had way too many steamboats. -

yeah I hate having a proven top receiver in the lineup, better to have rookies catching passes I stated the obvious at the start of the year, Nick Moore needs to stay healthy. Five games in, he's out. I'm probably unreasonably irritated this man can't stay healthy. -
Per year Yes I know and I'm fascinated he got that.
-
You're probably right and that's where MB needs to be creative with screens, hitch passes, quick hits, counters etc to circumvent that pressure.

Team Losing Because Of Coaching Decisions
HardCoreBlue replied to TransconaBomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
And/or the coaches think Brohm gives us the best chance in managing the game so other players (receivers/rb's) can step up and collectively win the game. Sort of like play not to lose QB. Yech. -
Eric Fehr gets 2 mill for three years? Fascinating.
