Just to briefly jump in on this from a non-political point of view but to use the current U.S.A political landscape as an example, the statement I bolded from part of your sentence is being questioned from every angle imaginable and unimaginable. It would seem, regardless of issue and at times apparent straightforwardness, no one in the U.S.A political environment is safe in saying this about anything about anyone without being challenged, befuddled or countered. Imho, I don't think I'm exaggerating here. I don't know about anyone else but I find it very very exhausting, and at times very very bizarre like I feel I may not be seeing things that some other people are seeing. That's why I love saying this at times: Go Jets Bombers Go.

By posing that question I assume you don't believe our management has a direction or a direction you don't believe is viable? My assumption is they do have a direction but I'm on the fence how much significant change we need to get us into the playoffs and be competitive. I do believe we are not at the stage of blowing everything up just yet. What is this direction? I, like you, listen when Chevy actually talks to the media. From my gathering he is trying to assemble a roster with considerable size/strength blended with some speed. Areas of concern continue to be fielding a competitive top six forward and defensemen lineup. We seem to have rolled the dice with our goaltending approach and did not get the consistency we were looking for. Some of these players will not be Winnipeg Jets come the 2017 2018 season. With the coaching staff, none too happy with some of our outputs (pp, pk, coverages, offensive/defensive zone plays etc). Are we trying to create a system that plays to our player strengths or are we trying to make our players fit into a scheme that doesn't fit to their skill sets? One might suggest the latter. We will reevaluate our coaching staff this off season and make the necessary changes that we believe will improve our club. No ones job, including chevy's, is 100% secure right now. This is my educated guess to answer your question with the caveat of having no insider knowledge.

I'm probably in the minority but I actually like what that message sends. To me, it sends the message that we feel that we are heading in the right direction. I would predict we will see a lot more movement from us in the off season, i.e., Goalie and defensemen upgrades.

I just imagine a world where I tell my players we need to lose more than we win for the better of the organization. I know what you (and others) are saying and I know it can result in better odds at acquiring a higher draft pick coupled with providing icetime to players who need the development at this level. All good I know. But these two worlds of 'my job is to help us win every game knowing we won't win every game ' to 'let's look at the bigger picture' will continue to collide and I don't know if I'll ever find a comfortable spot between the two as a loyal fan. I also think there are some Jet people, be them players, coaches, management whom also struggle with this. But they have a big pool of money to go home and jump into whereas all I have is a jersey, a shirt and a hat to help.

This is just me and it's all how one looks at it but I've always found approaches taken by Jerome Iginla and others historically over time somewhat irritating. Keep it at, I'm here to help the Colorado Avalanche be successful regardless of where we find ourselves in the standings. If the organization that employs me feels they can better themselves by trading me away, so be it. It would have been like Milt Stegall saying trade me to a contender as my career is almost up. I couldn't see him doing that, at least out in the media.

Right, totally comparable. I understand that the larger woman with good vocal chords is getting warmed up to sing, but until she comes out on the stage, we're still playing for a playoff position. It's not whose a better fan, it's just that they are still in the hunt, that's a fact. Until it is no longer a fact, I chose to 'hope'. Just my preference no better no worse than your approach.

No we are not out of the playoff picture just yet. Going by what I'm reading and seeing, the Jets management, coaching staff and players feel they're still in the hunt. So why wouldn't we get behind that?

Because our coach and gm believe we are still in the hunt. :-) Maybe we sit tight like the flames and roll the dice with what we have. if we don't succeed, we let lose our spare parts in the off season. Unless of course another gm becomes desperate, panicky and we can get way with more than we bargained for in selling some of our accessories like Stafford, Pav, MP etc

Okay, I'll be that naive guy. Since we are still in the playoff hunt, we use Stafford to get something to help us get there not to unload something for futures right? Or another scenario (unless something changes between now and trade deadline) stay status quo and keep with the guys we have to get us there.

I really dislike this game and I'm sure most Jets players would as well. You play every game to win regardless of standings. I hope some unrealistic miracle happens, Jets go on a run, make the playoffs and this square crap gets punted off. Have a beautiful day.
