So Kent Austin can win with a second stringer....
HardCoreBlue replied to bb1's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Haven't given up on this season YET but if we pile on more L's in the next three weeks I'm pulling out my annual, "Our year is next year, Go Jets Go!' -
Does a blow out against the Eskimos cost MOS his job?
HardCoreBlue replied to White Out's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Not to mention the fact, based on all facets of our game production to date, no existing staff should be in line for a promotion . . . -
Nice sum up of how exhausting it is to be a committed Blue Bomber fan. It's there for the taking but more times than not over the last several years we don't take, we give.

Is Jeremiah Masoli better than Nichols?
HardCoreBlue replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It could be one of those games where they release him regardless of a win or loss. They'll say something like a decision was made prior to the game and wanted to give him this last game. -
Yup, perfect recollection.
-
I'm not giving up on Willy, just talking out loud. How about prying Travis Lulay out of BC? Or is he damaged goods? He has great Chemistry with Harris.
-
Our first drive of the game was encouraging.

Randle is our best Bomber right now. He's fun to watch.

Around The NHL 2016/2017

Good day to be an agent. -
general trade thread to spit ball ideas
HardCoreBlue replied to Ducky's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Oh yes lets make that trade so we can be grouped into the 'what were they thinking' group that Edm and Mtl just started a few days ago. -
Random curious thought I have is how is it that two block buster trades happen within 23 minutes of one another?
-
Very very true, but I'm sure glad this site is here when we lose. It feels like a support group with a variety different issue all coming together under one. That's one of the many things about this site I appreciate. But going 17 and 1 would be better.

Strombo Out, Return of MacLean?
HardCoreBlue replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Totally agree. The guy is money. One of my favorites. -
True enough but more times than not people who go out of their way to give back to their communities are usually character people Evander Kane not with standing. Moreover, outside of his community work you talk of, Evander Kane seems to attract attention for all the wrong reasons moreso that Subban does. But, like you mentioned, most of us have no idea what sort of issues are going here non-hockey talent related.
-
With the amount of work it seems Subban does for his community, if true, he must be a different person in the locker room.

I think what we learned from week one is give the rock to Harris early and often. Simplify, give the ball to our studs and let them do their thing. Dressler going down early disrupted what was a beginning of a nice game plan. If Dressler comes back healthy, stays healthy, we keep with the same gameplan we had for Montreal centering around Harris, Dressler and Smith. I see Willy doing a lot more quick hits this week to get his confidence going.
-
I did watch the reply, quite a few times. At the 14 second mark, number 16 was nicely squared up to Dressler but then went in head first. By his angle he could of easily kept his head/face up and still made the tackle. Dressler shares the guilt for his injury (drop his damn shoulder run out bounds, fall whatever). But your reasoning that Dressler dipping his head caused the defender to dip his head is nonsensical to me. We will probably continue to disagree about this, but that's fine.
-
This we can agree on, for sure.
-
A defender should never lead with his helmet regardless of what the offensive player does. Speed is not a reason that one leads with their helmet. Initiating a hit with a helmet does not require the opposing player to do the same. As I said before, yes Dressler should have dropped his shoulder not his helmet, but regardless, if defender is tackling appropriate Dressler's helmet meets his chest. It also tells me when coaching athletes that we have to focus both on how to give a hit and how to take a hit.

Now I'm understanding your alcohol references . . . :-)

No and I could be wrong, but I think he's pointing out the hypocrisy of your statement directed at Goalie. We're all hypocrites at varying degrees with some demonstrating it more than others I find.

Bombers add DB Terrence Frederick, release Louie Richardson
HardCoreBlue replied to Rich's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Hope for the best, plan for the worse. Didn't look good at all. Health #1, I'm sure the Bombers training staff are monitoring him closely for any effects that can surface sometimes well after the actual hit (dizziness, headaches, nauseousness, vision issues etc). Here's hoping Weston didn't suffer any effects and he's back on the field ready to go. -
Bombers add DB Terrence Frederick, release Louie Richardson
HardCoreBlue replied to Rich's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'm surprised he hasn't been put on the IR yet after watching him right after the helmet to helmet hit. -
Bombers Opener June 24 ... (also Laine Day!)
HardCoreBlue replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Like I said last night on chat, I coach my son's twelve year old football team and we are required to teach Football Canada's chest plate tackling, i.e., keep the head out of tackling. I'm probably the first or second generation teaching this. A lot, if not most, older football players have been trained to tackle the traditional way. The Montreal defender lead with his head. Yes Dressler might have been wise to head out of bounds or drop his shoulder not his helmet but the defender should never ever lead with his helmet. Never. Dressler's shoulder should of met his chest, down on tackle, both get up ready for the next play. It's very frustrating to watch especially with my son who is watching how the pros do it. When they watch the game tape, I'm wondering if the coaches will try to correct that. Cynically I doubt it. For all the traditionalists out there, keeping the head out of tackling/taking a hit does not take away from the aggression and excitement of the sport. -
and MTL penalties.
