I think it might be time to shut this thread down. Too many d-bags ruined this one. Poll results are interesting and when you shuffle through the d-bag comments, there was some interesting discussion...

I think the way your question was given as a "if you were the GM..." is what is the issue. You could get the same answers from people if it was something like "What signing do you think would have more of an impact?"Thanks Mr. Professor...you're so smart! Taking constructive responses from someone and mocking them for it. Man, you really know how to do it all don't you. Remember, this is the guy who cried because he felt we weren't thanking him enough for his Training Camp reports. You can't win with some people. I thought True Blue's post was dead on...the wording is what caused the backlash. Wow...I think you might be even smarter than True Blue!

Interesting Bob Irving says Boyd could be Drew Willy’s backup next season. Bob’s usually pretty plugged into what the Bombers are thinking. This could suggest Nichol’s isn’t re-signing before testing free agency.

I'll take the poop.

Quoted for truth. That’s your opinion and you’re certainly entitled to it. Not sure why this question bothers you so much…it’s a legit question that a GM could need to consider/manage. It's a legit dumb question because Nichols ain't getting paid like a starter and even if he was I got a lot of other areas I can cut salary in to fit both in. Picard cut alone saves a huge amount of money. Like I said, you are entitled to your opinion Absolutely. This place is like Animal Farm. Everyone is equal but some think they are more equal than others. This is completely untrue. There is a big discrepancy between many posters. This particular question is dumb for a number of reasons that have been pointed out by me and others. I wouldn't call it dumb...poorly thought out, or unrealistic are probably more appropriate. In what world does a team sign a MLBer and cut a QB to offset it? Doesn't make too much sense in reality. However, this thread does offer some discussion points. Can we fit Henoc into our current SMS long term or are their SMS issues that need to be cleared up? Extremely and highly unlikely any of these legit questions have anything at all to do with Nichols though. Read the initial question on page 1...it's not poorly thought out. It was asked exactly as was the intent: "If you were a GM...". It's poorly thought out because there would be no GM in the free world faced with this dilemma. There are your QBs, your NIs, that must be protected then every other 30 or so imports would be targets for release before this would ever happen. It's not a plausible situation. The Bombers have at least a dozen people they would release or trade that would provide the SMS savings needed before this situation would ever occur. Actually it is. GMs shuffle money around all the time from one position group to another. You don't think that Huff has a little less in one position group or had to release a higher paid player because he pays Tate more than any backup QB in the league? Or that Taman had to release some players because he signed Kevin Glenn? Not saying its definitely a situation Walters is dealing with but is a potential situation a GM might face...

WINNIPEG, MB., September 15, 2015 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announce today the club has acquired the negotiation list rights to quarterback Tajh Boyd, in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2017 CFL Draft. Boyd has also been added to the club’s practice roster. Boyd (6-0, 225, Clemson, September 25, 1990 in Hampton, Virginia) played four seasons at Clemson, his final three as the starter. As a senior he led the Tigers to an Orange Bowl victory, where he threw for five touchdowns and ran for another. He holds school records for passing yards and passing touchdowns with 11,904 and 107, respectively. The New York Jets drafted Boyd in the sixth round of the 2014 draft. Following his stint there he signed with the Steelers, where he spent the 2015 training camp. Among his collegiate accomplishments, Boyd was named ACC Player of the Year in 2012, ACC record for touchdowns thrown in a season (36) and the MVP of the Chick-fil-A Bowl in 2012.

Crompton would be an upgrade over Brohm and Marve, but I'd much rather have Nichols.

Henoc on his way to Hamilton & Toronto for visit
gbill2004 replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I've read that Hamilton has a lot of guys coming off the books after this season and a move for Henoc would be primarily geared towards next season and beyond. -
LOL that's not short, except maybe when you stand amongst the monsters that play O and D line! Then it's actually short and skinny...He's actually slightly over 6 feet tall by half an inch. Not sure where 6'2" came from but none of the scouting reports have him listed that tall.

Here's a recent scouting report: Strengths Sets quickly. Can sling it when he's in rhythm and has a clean pocket. Good zip short-to-intermediate. Can launch deep throws with ease and flashes touch to drop it in the bucket. Shows composure in the face of a blitz and is willing to take a hit to make a play. Makes plays with his feet, rolling the pocket, extending plays or throwing on the move (left or right). Slippery and elusive to escape the rush and is a threat to tuck and run. Functional straight-line speed and run strength for a quarterback; will lower his shoulder on defenders. Experienced, three-year starter. Terrific football character. Has a likable personality. Weaknesses Lacks ideal height, and weight has tended to fluctuate, pushing to nearly 240 the second half of 2011 season. Sails downfield throws and can improve his accuracy. Inconsistent decision-making. Did not take snaps under center in a pistol, read-option offense and production was inflated by an NFL-caliber supporting cast of skill talent. Will require patience adapting to pro-style passing. Needs to quicken his eyes and improve his field vision. Does not always see the deep safety or short-hole defender. Impatient making reads before fleeing the pocket. Durability could be a concern, given his style. Needs to learn to slide. Bottom Line A short, stocky, fairly nifty, strong-armed quarterback most ideally suited for a vertical-power system. Projects best as a career backup or No. 3 quarterback in the pros and compares very favorably to Ravens 2007 fifth-rounder Troy Smith.

I read his scouting reports and one of the knocks on Boyd is that he has trouble reading defenses. That's often what kills the potential of these highly rated QBs.

I just checked and the official announcement was that he was "no longer with the team".

Same as Taj Smith, former WR with the Riders. He still is a Rider - he's on their 6 game IR. I wonder what their new regime is going to do with him since he was in Chamblin's dog house.I believe Richardson is as wellI believe Richardson was released. He's on the 6 game as well according to the Riders' website.Interesting. Pretty sure it was announced he was released.

On the CJOB show tonight O'Shea suggested Moore might play this week.

Is this a sign that Nichols isn't re-signing?

So are you saying the Earls girls won't work? Might be better off with someone from Chicken Chef in Winkler....Henoc likes 'em hefty?
