  1. QB Robert Marve-6’1, 211 lbs. The former Miami Hurricanes recruit came to Purdue via a transfer and never quite lived up to the hype that surrounded him coming out of HS. He’s a good athlete with a nice arm but he’s struggled with turnovers and poor decisions for most of his career. He may have a shot at the next level, I’m just not sure if that’s in the NFL or the CFL. Robert Marve‘s college football odyssey could still net an opportunity in the NFL. Marve (6-foot-1 1/8, 211 pounds), one of the most-sought-after players coming out of high school, originally committed to Alabama but attended Miami (Fla.) instead. Later, Marve transferred from Miami to Purdue, where an injury-ravaged college career netted him a sixth year of eligibility in 2012. During the March 1 workout in West Lafayette, Ind., Marve displayed a great arm during position drills, a performance that could earn the quarterback a longer look from NFL teams as a potential rookie free-agent pickup. Marve — who was not at the NFL Scouting Combine — ran the 40-yard dash in 4.78 and 4.84 seconds, had a 9-foot-5 broad jump and 27 1/2-inch vertical jump, ran the short shuttle in 4.32 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.15 seconds. He also performed 22 strength lifts of 225 pounds (which would have been the best among QBs at the combine).
  2. @DarrinBauming: Mike O'Shea says #Bombers will still add linebacker & offensive line coaches, making the largest coaching staff in Winnipeg in a long while.

  4. I'm pretty sure the Bombers could have re-signed him this offseason if they wanted him back.
  5. @CFL: THIS JUST IN: @AngusReid64 has announced his retirement. #CFL
  6. What's the over/under on when fans start demanding Buck to come out of retirement and become our starting QB again?
  7. Yep, Friesen and Wiecek are garbage. Not sure how they are both still employed in the industry. Must be a union thing where they both have seniority and can't be fired.
  8. Paul Friesen of the Winnipeg Sun reported a few days ago that Buck would not be coaching with the Bombers this season. And if Buck did coach, that it would be with another CFL team.
  9. Interesting and somewhat promising. I wonder what the other options are if we don't get Wylie?
  10. But how long do you keep a player for the sole reason that if his brother gets cut he'll return? Seems like a pathetic reason to keep a guy. I love Henoc but if we can get Glenn for Cauchy, then it's time to move on. I bet Henoc lasts a while in the NFL.
  11. Guess not: @obbykhan60: The only thing I am joining is the beach club my friend. But thanks for making me feel good.
  12. March 5: @garylawless: Not sure it goes anywhere but Buck Pierce and Kyle Walters lunched last week. interest on both sides regarding coaching gig #cfl #bn
  13. The Bombers were the FIRST team to talk to him, but the media doesn't have any fun if they report it that way. Walters and Buck spoke last week about a coaching position in person. Actually Gary Lawless did report that a few days ago.
  14. @DarrinBauming: Former CFL quarterback, now Calgary #Stamps offensive coordinator Dave Dickenson's first coaching gig was as running backs coach. @DarrinBauming: Two seasons later, Dickenson was promoted to OC. Fellow former CFL QB Jason Maas' first coaching job was as the #Argos' receivers coach.
  15. We currently have 9 coaches on the staff, and it looks like we still need an OL and LB coach which would take us to 11. I believe we had 9 last year so I like seeing the Bombers not cheaping out on coaches!
  16. I read it that as he wants to add another 20 lbs, along with Elite Fitness suggesting a comeback. Guess it depends on how you read the tweet. Probably nothing after I re-read it...
  17. I suspect he will get lots of support from the rest of the staff on how to coach. I also suspect he will get involved with the QBs and the entire offensive game planning. He was a valuable resource last year when he was injured, he helped Crowton with the offense. He'll likely learn the role of a "coach" this year then take over as our QB coach next year.
  18. Bombers Name Buck Pierce RB Coach The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have brought back a familiar face and fan favourite – former quarterback Buck Pierce. Pierce will join Head Coach Mike O’Shea’s staff in the role of Running Backs Coach. Pierce retired from the Canadian Football League on Tuesday after nine seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and B.C. Lions, finishing with 15,289 yards, 76 touchdowns, 1,200 completions, and 130 games played. “Deciding not to play anymore was a difficult decision, but having the opportunity to re-join the Bombers in a coaching role was really a perfect fit. I am thrilled they wanted me to be a part of what I believe will be a great thing here in Winnipeg. I said when I was traded that I hoped one day I would be back in some capacity, andtoday is a really special day for my family and me,” said Pierce. One of the most popular players to don a Bomber uniform over the past decade, Pierce was traded to the B.C. Lions in September of 2013 after spending close to four seasons in Winnipeg. The Kansas born Pierce became a true Winnipegger throughout that time, laying deep roots in the Manitoba capital, both personally and professionally. He is involved in countless community initiatives including Special Olympics Manitoba, Manitoba Minor Football, Ronald McDonald House, Faces of Freedom, The Dream Factory and United Way after school programs. “Buck has been through the trenches as a quarterback in this league. He has great experience, and will be a valued asset to our coaching staff,” said Head Coach Mike O’Shea. “He will be able to relate to our players very well, and the ability to add a former CFL quarterback to our staff was important to us. He will be a great teacher to our running backs and a strength to our offensive staff." “We are very excited to welcome Buck back to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. His dedication to our community, our organization, and passion to be a winner, makes this a great fit for not only our football operations, but our entire organization. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are a better franchise with Buck Pierce a part of it, and I’m very pleased Kyle and Mike were able to bring him on board,” said President and CEO Wade Miller.
  19. Bombers need a centre...could make some sense. He's only 33 years old. Here are some of his tweets from yesterday: @EL1TEWINNIPEG: And something must be up! The legend @obbykhan60 - working out 5 times a week - is a comeback looming?! #relentless @obbykhan60: @EL1TEWINNIPEG @ShawarmaKhanWPG down 20 lbs from my playing days. Another 20 lbs to go.
  20. @sportscage: Riders "kicking tires" on Kevin Glenn's availability
  21. Ken Moll is no longer with the Bombers.
  22. I see BC, Calgary, Winnipeg and Montreal as teams that might go after Glenn.
  23. If Glenn comes in as the backup I'm on board. Similar to the Tate/Glenn situation in Calgary and that worked.
  24. Yep, a QB depth chart of Glenn, Willy, Brohm would be very impressive. I do worry a little about how Willy would react after being named the starter.
