Willy-mania has begun!

From what I've seen, Willy has a better arm, footwork, accuracy, size, and is good at reading defenses. Willy is mobile, but not as mobile as Collaros. Collaros had all the hype, but I think we may have gotten the better QB of the two.

He's getting lots of NFL interest.

Wild and Fitzgerald can both long-snap. Not sure there's a need for Cvety anymore.

You make a very good point. Willy is a BIG signing for the Bombers. His scouting reports, CFL game footage and stats are all excellent. McManus is high on him, which carries a lot of weight. The perception that he's option C is really downplaying the significance of this huge acquisition.

Interesting. You think Cauchy would be more effective as a DB? I recall he was not very good at tackling and shied away from physical play.

I asked him this morning on Twitter how his ACL recovery is coming and whether he will be in Bombers training camp. He said, "it's coming along great. And yes sir". Robertson could be a great addition, and him and Bucknor could compete for the starting safety spot, allowing us to cut Cauchy (who I believe makes over $100,000 per season). Robertson could also be an option as a return man if he can return to his pre-injury form...he's a speedster.

Penton says Willy is getting close to Collaros money, so looks clear that Willy is the starter.

Willy stands tall in the pocket and has the strength to deliver while taking a hit. Willy's strengths are his calmness and intelligence. He understands the position very well and does a great job of reading the defense. Willy has outstanding mechanics and footwork which allows him to be very accurate with most throws he makes. Willy can be a little stiff at times. He can sometimes stand and hold the ball too long which will cause him to be sacked or give the defense time to react to his eyes. Willy can be indecisive as well and in the NFL that can lead to big turnovers. Willy comes from a humble conference and team that is always trying to prove itself and I think that bodes well for his development and coachability. His ability to stand tall and poise in the pocket helps him to deliver strikes to his receivers. Willy is a relaxed QB and I have not seen him get too rattled he stays calm under duress and uses his feet to buy him time. His consistency at recognize the rush needs to be improved on, he is very good at seeing it but at times he holds the ball too long and gets lead feet in the pocket. I believe Willy has tremendous potential and could be a legitimate QB in the NFL.

Can you explain why you are so high on him? He's got lots of raw talent and great tools, physical measurables, and is a former basketball player. But hasn't done much at the college football level.

Trading for rights to Willy before Feb 11 is a smart and bold move. I hope to see an announcement today.

Doubt we have any interest in Glenn. Bellefeuille was still trying to replace Glenn with Porter at the end of the 2011 season. Is Glenn swallowing his pride to go back to the town that rode him out on a rail plus the meh relationship he has with Marcel too much to ask ? I'm sure Glenn wants to play. I'm not sure he would be preferred over Willy, who has a very vocal advocate in the front office. I think Glenn will be stuck rotting in Ottawa, wishing he hadn't extended with Calgary. You referring to McManus?

We'd better throw starting QB money at Josh Bourke.

I assume we will now be starting 4 NI's on the OL.

I woundn't mind him as a backup. I'd give up a 3rd rounder.
