The players have said they don't want intersquad games such as The Blue Gold games we have had in preseason back in the days of yore I see them as especially helpful in giving new players more time to show their wares ... why don't the players want them? Probably because they don't get paid for the dress rehearsal ... so why not put the proceeds towards CFLPA pension or something similar and get this low cost evaluation tool going? (I think the season ticket holders/fans would be willing to pay for a reduced rate ticket to the event.) Make the intrasquad game a negotiation item next year.... I bet the fans would not mind paying if they knew the money was going to player pensions.

I watched Ray's injury a couple of times ... the D can play hard with respect or they can be out there to hurt you, you know "kill the QB" .... and I think that's what happened here ... Ray was on the way down: the Calgary player could have pulled up/slowed down but instead put the full power of his shoulder into Ricky Ray's head: "see ya old man!"

Brian Bennett: I don't dis him for running to the Riders and Chris Jones .... I am sure he got some sweet talk .... like a man MOS wished him well instead of giving him a "good riddance" ... Jones never gave Bennett a chance .... Bennett never gave up ... and then MOS had a problem and called Bennett ... I think cause of all this Bennett will be a starter for one Canadian franchise or another within a couple or three years

explaining you own motivation while accusing and judging mine .... my primary motivation is not attention seeking ... I have better ways to do that IF I want to .... when I have something to say or a certain angle to share I post - - whether that's a little or a lot - - I run with the flag and enthusiasm, not glory or attention seeking as your mind misjudges -
I have mostly like what our new commish has done for our game .... but he needs to change how we protect players: In the NHL you still pay for head shots even if it gets by the zebras in the heat of the moment .... I don't think we have equivalency to that in the CFL (correct me if I am wrong) Muamba on Streveler is a perfect example ... should be heavy fine first offense, game suspension 2nd and multiple games after that ... I don't mean accidental contact but who can define that - - -no one is being paid to be a psychiatrist - - actions have to define intent: slipping off your tackle is different than lining some one up I also am aware of the age old rule against one player hitting him and another hitting him low at the same time .... but that is exactly what happened to Ricky Ray last night ... the league has to police the players too and I mean the league - - not the reffs

Mr SpeedFlex27: How would you like to put up the gameday thread this Thursday night or Friday? Then you can see your "name up in lights"! Go ahead I won't do it ... I would like you to get all that glory -
I was gaulking at the shoulder pads .... how different than today's modern equipment

I am not expecting this coming Friday's battle to be a defensive battle but rather quite the opposite. A surprising Masoli is going to be met by an even more surprising Streveler at QB. Andrew Harris is due to explode but will he match the production of upstart Canadian Mercer Timmis? Nic Demski is also due for a game changing billing in the way little 5'7" Brandon Banks has been doing for the Tabbies. Now Ritchie Hall is saying for the Bombers to be successful our defensive front 7 have to stay in their passing lanes. That could be the real difference maker. Sheesh! What a game coming up....

Did I miss the Bomber depth chart being posted somewhere? -
For a few minutes there, it actually looked like a duel between Harris and Collaros. Collaros was starting to look like his old self but then the Riders offensive line figured in and you know who was knocked out of the game. Everything after that was no contest. Powell made Hurl look like what he really is. Brandon Bridges had a moment or 2 as well but was no where near as consistent as Collaros. Now were going to find out whether Collaros goes back to being a shell shocked turtle...

The only game in Pick'ems I wasn't sure about was this one Ottawa might be the better team on paper but they've been sitting around for a while and they have no momentum. Regina keeps surprising me; their defence is better than I expected and their offensive line seems to be hanging together okay. Further the Prider's have that Chris Jones audacity and chutzpah may give them an edge against an untested Ottawa. I think Regina will win but it won't be pretty. Carter on defence is going to be fun to watch just because there's a battle of egos going on. I think Harris is a better quarterback but Collaros played a lot better than I would've guessed in last week's game. I think he can get the job done just because Jones is putting confidence in him .... I think Collaros is back but I can't say the same thing about Drew Willey I'm looking forward to a good battle with both teams having a chance to win

Mike I thought I heard our posters say in the how-many-threads-topic that they wanted to see more small specific posts and less topics buried in the big general threads ,,,, this topic will be 4 or 5 pages which is a good length for a specific topic .... I am seeing more posters starting small threads now compared to a few weeks ago

TO @ SSK - East Final Rematch + QB Mystery Afoot
BigBlue replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I am very tired of all the jostling and accusations ... I wish the trolls and their antics would go away and we could just discuss football -
Bombers offensive coordinator Paul LaPolice spoke to the media on Tuesday for the first time since last week’s opener. And he offered a straightforward take on the work of rookie quarterback Chris Streveler. “He made some good decisions, saw the field well,” began LaPolice. “One of his interceptions (by J.C. Sherritt) might be one of the better interceptions this season. I thought he managed to move the ball when we needed to. Again, this is a guy who hasn’t played a lot of football. We had a couple of things that were open and in the right spots and he just didn’t have his eyes right because it was maybe the second or third time he’s had the reps at full speed. “A lot of room to grow, but I thought he commanded the huddle. When we talked about things in the locker room and said, ‘We think this is going to be there’ he recognized it and threw it for a touchdown. He did a good job. “There are a lot of things he could do better, but you’ve just got to hold yourself and go, ‘Listen, one – this is his first real speed game. Two – I don’t even know the guy from a play-calling standpoint. I called about 20 plays for him, so I’ve got to get to know what he knows best and what he’s comfortable with. Room to grow, but we’ll just keep coaching.” https://www.bluebombers.com/2018/06/19/bomber-report-june-19/

Will Streveler Be Our James Franklin?
BigBlue replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
My guess is that on the last Bomber drive with the game tied with Edmonton, Streveler would have called a downfield pass to go after the W. Instead the rookie had no choice (except to risk his career here and the starting role) but to run Lapo's two calls ... speaks to his leadership -
Travis Bond signs with Edmonton: Edmonton's O-Line in the last few years has converted so many of other teams' O-line discards into top notch starters .... But I don't know how Bond can be any more of an all star than he already is ... this might be the move that gets Edmonton past Calgary this year ... imagine that, an all star that nobody wanted - - except Edmonton
