I have never seen so few Bomber starters in an X game. We are all hanging on how our 3 QB's are going to perform ... our O Line isn't that bad talent wise but they don't have a clue how to play next to each other - - especially if they don't come with vanilla - - stunts and misdirection might leave the QB rather naked at times Our D Line / LBers have played together more in practice and vanilla will be fine .... our secondary better be ready to play a rescue role ... I hope they are as athletic as they are being touted Expecting a long ouch report after next to nothing last game

I believe Lapo can write a simple playbook for our new Qbs .... lots of hitches ,screens and quick timing passes with the odd long ball to keep the D from creeping up ,,,, an emphasis on the running game with a lot of counters, reverses and misdirection plays but also plenty of power blocking straight at you stuff... I think we can hold our own this way

Reckless really? What a judgment.

This sounds like animus and misunderstanding

"Besides MOS has a habit of sticking to the team (roster of players) that are on board on opening day. Look back to history: he has made very few changes. I don't think MOS is going off roster unless we have about 2 or 3 absolute disasters for games. If we are going to be close, or at least not too distant, he will be sticking to what he has got now. That's who he is, what he does. He looks at the 4 QB's he has as professionals. He won't be screaming the sky is falling." That was last night ... now today: “I’m not looking,” O’Shea said. “I imagine (Kyle) is fielding a pile of calls. But we’re pretty happy with what we’ve got.”

I count 55 names .... that is a number close to a game day roster

Not many of us posters are going to rival Walters for GM. I heard more babble than wisdom today. Nobody but Glenn and Durant could step in without about a month to learn the basic playbook being used here. A Vernon Adams or Brandon Bridge on two weeks study would just be setting themselves up for failure... and a promising career would go down the drain from the impossible expectations and pressure. Getting a QB up to full function is easier said than done, especially with a new club. The cut down date is in 3 days, Saturday. Something interesting might arise that day but more than likely nothing will. Sunday we will see some shuffling as certain players go onto the PR. A few, not lots, projected PR players will move to different clubs. If Nichols is down for a bit, then Walters will look to his scouts and contacts but we will not have anyone new starting/playing QB, except our current four, until about game four. Yes Walters might pry Glenn or someone else for perhaps a Receiver or DB plus a draft pick if the other club felt they could fill a significant hole or two, but that is highly unlikely. Besides MOS has a habit of sticking to the team (roster of players) that are on board on opening day. He won't be screaming the sky is falling. Walters and MOS have built an incredible team loaded with talent. The injury to Nichols is going to build character and true grit into the rest of the team. This team is going to carry its QBs ... and I expect they just might be good enough for that. They may even show well. Two or three of our QB's are going to grow up in a hurry. One or two will emerge as the team carries them. And when Nichols comes back, this year or next, we are going to the Grey Cup. Meanwhile management is building an enduring dynasty. And if Nichols never comes back all these CFL one and two year contracts will allow one of the league's best QB's to sign on here for a while. We are going to live with what we got for for at least the first three or four games, and we will like it. (Probably more than we expect.)

The one thing other developing Bomber QBs haven't had around them is a good O-Line and decent receivers .... usually its been just awful .... what Nichols got to replace Willey was Travis Bond and a line that went from average to great ... I hope we take our first string line Friday night so we can see what we got in real life BTW our D os going to be awesome this year as long as they are not beset by too may two and outs by our offence

https://www.bluebombers.com/2018/06/03/training-camp-june-3rd-recap/ "I got the call to come here” this spring said Brian Bennett ... Ed Tait says "Bennett, it would seem, is a bit of depth insurance as a player with a cannon arm, superb athleticism and who is familiar with the offence. But with Sunday being his first day taking live reps, he also has some catching up to do." So it will be a battle for the third spot on the roster Friday night but I bet our 4th QB will be PR-ed ... I believe we know our powers in the Bomber office have created a stable of worthy QB's to develop and who emerges best is yet to be seen in just training camp -
MOS calls Neufeld a highly intelligent leader who is extremely versatile He likes Corey Washington's ability to catch a ball even when he is not open. He says Drake Nevis's weight loss is helping him this year.

MOS: One of those young guys is Seisay, the 6-2, 203-pound product of Nebraska who has had stints with the Detroit Lions (2014) and Seattle Seahawks (2015-16) and just returned to practice this week after missing time with an injury. “He’s long. We like his athleticism,” said O’Shea. “I’m glad he gets back on the field and gets a couple practices under his belt before this next game so that we can see what he can do.” Clarke appeared in 25 games over four seasons with the B.C. Lions, but his release speaks volumes of the remaining competition at defensive back in camp. That crew includes imports Chris Randle, Brian Walker, Kevin Fogg, Brandon Alexander, Anthony Gaitor, Tyneil Cooper, Chris Humes, Robert Priester, Marcus Sayles, Mohammed Seisay and Jordan Thomas – and either Chandler Fenner or Maurice Leggett, depending on who starts at the strong-side linebacker/dime spot. As well, the club has Canadians Taylor Loffler, Derek Jones, Kahlen Branning, Abu Conteh, Jacob Firlotte and Brendan Morgan in the defensive backfield.

https://www.bclions.com/2018/06/02/post-game-june-1-ricky-llo Quarterback Ricky Lloyd talks about his second half heroics and leading the Lions to a pre-season victory in Calgary. Lloyd passed for three touchdowns in the third quarter. BC Lions rookie quarterback Ricky Lloyd looked sharp in his team’s pre-season opener, taking the majority of the snaps after replacing an injured Cody Fajardo in the second quarter. The 25-year-old connected on 15 of 23 passes for 121 yards and three touchdowns in his team’s 36-23 Jonathon Jennings played just a quarter and the Lions’ projected starter connected on four of five passes and 40 yards. His counterpart, Bo Levi Mitchell, stayed in the game for two drives for the Stampeders, making three of five passes for 45 yards and a rushing touchdown before moving aside for the rest of the team’s pivots.victory. Wally Buono post game: https://www.bclions.com/2018/06/02/post-game-june-1-wally-buono/ Sunday morning saw the release of nine Lion rookie internationals: DL Gelen Robinson, DL Quinton Bradley, DL Breion Creer, DB Deion Carter, DB Solomon Means, WR Vernon Johnson, WR Ronnie Holley, OL David Patterson and OL Jac’que Polite were all sent packing. RB Travon Van has returned home to deal with a personal family matter. He has been placed on the suspended list. CFL teams must be down to 56 players on Saturday, June 9th. Steveler could be like QB's Ricky Ray, Allen, Ham in their first year showing stuff from the get go ... he could also be completely something else ... he's got Pierce and Lapo and Nichols to decide what is the best course of development action .... If Bennett plays Friday I hope he is not like the majority of rookie QB's playing like a deer caught in the head lights .... young QB's need composure to do anything in this league ... I hope both Ross and Bennett show some of that composure Friday ... And yes Nichols needs a quarter to get ready for Edmonton: he needs rhythm and timing to shake off the rust we so often see in opening games ... he needs to perfect his timing with Bowman and learn how Simonaise and Demski will run their routes (where they will be when in a game setting) ... I think he will not need a tune up with Dressler and Adams but it won't hurt to refresh some memory imprints .... So Nichols for nearly a half and then divide up the remaining time between the other 3 aspiring QBs with more time for good performance: 1st Seveler then Bennett then Ross or as we saw last game alternating series for thinking and reflection time ... And no I am not concerned about possible injury to Nichols ... if you play the injury fear obsession we always hear from the TSN color commentators (exempt Dunigan) you can not play football at all.

Our DB's are: Brandon Alexander Anthony Gaitor* Marcus Sayles * Mo Seisay * Chris Humes Derek Jones Kevin Fogg * Brian Walker * Chris Randle* Taylor Loffler Chandler Fenner * Maurice Leggett * Kahler Branning* Abu Conteh Steven Clarke * Rob Priester * Jordan Thomas * Tyneil Cooper * Brandon Morgan Jacob Firlotte # Fenner, Randle, & Loffler have their jobs locked down Fogg, Walker & Alexander are looking over their shoulder for the other 3 starting spots (Leggett might be 6 game IR) Clarke, a cfl veteran, looked good Friday ... so how close are Gaitor, Seisay and Sayles? Do Branning, Cooper, and Priester have a chance? Does Canadian Derek Jones have a shot to start at CB?

There are 4 minutes of hillites put up by Ed Tait on the Bomber site (https://www.bluebombers.com) ... I have been extremely pleased with what Tait has done there .... Every day 3 or 4 good videos (frequently with MOS), daily interviews, and Tait's opinions which as you know are top notch ... I go there before this site and I have never done that before ... the website is really well done .... my only knock is how late in the day everything gets posted ... going to the menu bar helps get some stuff earlier -
Yahoo we won .... we had multiple individual victories ... now the rookies have a week to unseat the incumbents: I count 12 major battles for a starter spot (there are even more for backup spots) DE: Roh DT: Bryant FB: Augustine 3rd QB: Bennett RG: Spooner P: Menard Briere SB: Petermann WR: Wolitarsky DI: Lankford DI/R: White DI: Washington DB: Gaitor DB: Seisay WILL: Wilson We are not taking 70 players on the flight .... just the battlers ... MOS won't know who until he sees the film ... the O-line also needs to develop some cohesion and harmony ... Nichols may want a little tuneup time to get ready for the opener ... there is much to be settled next Friday

First star - Bob Irving Second star - Ed Tait Third star - Michael O'Shea

Brian Bennett is due to get a few reps next Friday against the Lions so half a quarter for him and Ross, a quarter for Steveler and Nichols .... the rest goes to the performers ... unless MOS leaves Nichols at home but I don't think he will -

33-13 Close enough to call it a blow-out pounding .... Edmonton showed next to nothing ... a play here and a play there but nothing consistent ... in the second half our rookies beat up their rookies ... can't wait for the home opener when our starters will beat up their starters -
