MOS & Company seem to have a philosophy that rules their decision making and that supercedes player judgment ... I hope I am wrong on that but I suspect it explains too much .... would like to see them more pragmatic

A third string quarterback is not too good - - they are only worth a quarter of a first string QB ..... that is they they value at a quarterBLACK -
Game day thread: Ottawa QuarterBLACKS vs Bomber BYES So we are all wondering what the defensive line is gonna look like but does it matter against a third string quarterback? Time to shake off the rust from the bye week or shall we say the Bombers have all healed up from their little nicks. I doubt if they have forgotten how to play .... as much as the players may be chomping at the bit to get going, I think we as fans are far more anxious than the players to see the game underway. We are likely to see a defensive line that has 2 international defensive ends and one international defensive tackle. That means that Corney, Thomas and who knows who else will be platooning. I personally don't see many other changes. It will be interesting to see who gets the start, Knox or Santos Knox at linebacker. At safety Jones or Loffler ... maybe a little experimenting with where to put Loffler but probably not. Other than that I think Michael O'Shea will be standing pat tonight - - and that feels like a habit - - if it ain't broke don't fix it. Game day - Yahoo !!!!!

By using the internet I can time the broadcast from OB perfectly with the TSN video .... doesn't work with the radio or MTS' stream of 680 but the net can be synced

It seems the NFL has a better handle on protecting their QBs than the CFL does .... see that as I watch the rushing linemen in their games ... looks so different than our league

The Wettenhalls ... are we getting the old man or one of the heirs running the Alouette show? The Los Angeles Lakers became a different team (in a very bad way) when the siblings took over the team - - huge different in judgment and management skill -
Jennings for a bit Lulay perhaps permanently Glenn for a bit Harris for quite a bit Tate for a bit Earlier, Ray for a bit That is 6 starting caliber QBs in a 9 team league Plus Durant and Collaros have contracted leprosy That adds up to some kind of Egyptian disease no doubt contracted in part through undisciplined wild zebras I say cage up those zebras and see if some kind of disciplined herding can take place before the plague gets worse

Bombers vs Redblacks: Bomber Football Is Back Edition
BigBlue replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I hope we bring Khalil Bass back to Winnipeg .... yes he may be somewhat self possessed but he is taking a great lesson in humility this year ... if he comes he will play his heart out for us and may be accepted by teammates as part of the "gang" .... adds depth, will do fine on special teams and knows our system well .... if we get him here in the next day or two can even get a run down on the Ottawa playbook .... but having been released I doubt MOS will let him back into the fold but you never know .... forgiveness and second chances still exist here and there -

I wonder how we are going to juggle our international defensive lineman .... would like to see both Johnson & Nevis dressed -
The cause of the current Quarterback Plague: In the first half of the season, the starting quarterbacks around the league seem to be sailing through the schedule without injury. Now in the last 2 weeks there has been a rash of injuries to the starters and the injury bug is even showing up with a couple of the backups. Is this just luck and coincidence, perhaps the inevitable? Or is there a deeper cause for the problem? The game just is not as competitive or enjoyable when teams are using the 2nd and 3rd stringers at quarterback. Now I understand it is rare for any quarterback to go injury free all season as Henry Burris did not long ago/ 18 regular-season games, 2 exhibition games, and potentially 3 playoff games is a lot of games to stay upright without so much as the smallest nick. The referees to me seem more lax than earlier in the season, allowing certain head shots and also fairly late hits after the pass is thrown. Not a lot different, just a little more relaxed than earlier. I am not sure if that is part of the problem... Or even whether my perception is correct. What can the league do to better protect starting quarterbacks? Can the teams (or the quarterbacks themselves) do more or do better in keeping their quarterbacks healthy? Would rule changes help, and if so, what would they be?

My recollection is Lankford has us closer to the 40 then the 30 most often

Dunnigan as a colour man is great and as a bonus he covered our Blue for our victory .... want more of that

After our second bye week we play the softest part of our schedule: Ottawa Friday the 22nd Edmonton Saturday the 30th (there) Hamilton Friday Oct 6 this is where we can build confidence and momentum Edmonton will play Toronto, Winnipeg & Montreal BC will play Calgary, Hamilton & Ottawa Calgary has BC, Regina, Montreal & Hamilton That all looks quite balanced,no real schedule quarks So in the near term we are going to make our own destiny that will set the stage for the end of thes season when we finish with BC, Toronto, BC again and Calgary for the last I am excited going into the bye ..... relaxation comes later

glad to hear it .... nice to see coach make sensible changes based on performance ... Lulay has to prove his toughness .... he is the better QB imho
-
It depends if Jennings can leave his showboating gambler personna and get back to disciplined passing
-
Apparently a certain Pederson source from Regina said the the Blue are going to start the game with great emotional intensity ..... he says if the Riders can hold the Bombers in check for just the first quarter, they will have weathered that storm and will take over control of that game How thoughtful, how deliberate , how determined do you think the Bombers will be in the BowL? Joe Cool wants to know ....
