  1. THE POINT IS THERE IS A MARKET FOR HIGH QUALITY ENTERTAINMENT ESPECIALLY WITH SOME NATIONAL PRIDE THROWN IN ... THIS STUFF IS A TEN TO TWENTY YEAR PROJECT AND REQUIRES A RICH VISIONARY TO BREAK THE STATUS QUO
  2. I believe they will eventually in a joint maritimes partnership ... what is lacking is a strong private owner like the McCain family
  3. This might be sound good, more fair, reasonable, professiinal and all that but 2 things: 1. The status quo gives the lower attendance east a better hope especially in getting to a lucky Grey Cup (see Ottawa and regular season % last year) 2. Long standing east west tradition and that still means something (see also about TV stuff) I believe going to a top 6 would affect attendance for the perennial weak sisters in the east where there is so much else to do ... could even cost a Toronto or someone to drop out and kill the league Better is to concentrate on adding three new franchises in Halifax, Quebec City and Saskatoon: they will all sell out 25K+ stadiums ... A 12 team league is very doable future
  4. The Problem is Reilley is incredibly hard to hit but if we could just lay an incredible lick on him and put him on his back he might just be a little bit less frisky .... It might be worth a 15 yard roughing the passer, not that I want him injured, but I do want him thinking about the rush and self-preservation ... His biggest problem has always been taking that tough hit that has occasionally sidelined him ... Let's try and put that worry in his head ... Meanwhile it appears Edmonton has lost 2 more starters in Ottawa including our friend Mr. Sewell .... Eventually that has to catch up to them doesn't it?
  5. Of course we can, and we can walk and chew gum at the same time too Indeed some of us can multitask and enjoy it .... no need for you to participate ... but I am very excited about the upcoming Eskie game .... the Ti Cat game will be a builder for us but we are going to set the tone for the rest of the season in the Edmonton contest .... if we beat them we move into the realm of a real contender for the Grey Cup .... and that is what it is all about ... so get back to whatever you are doing and have fun .... you can catch up to us later
  6. Everyone hated Burris but he was a leader and a difference maker .... he made receivers ... the grit and determination was there .... Harris is not at that level to bring everyone's game up ... Desjardin and Campbell should drag Henry out of his TSN perch, get him into shape, and take another run at that Grey thing ... or they can yawn and we can go back to sleep on thus franchise .... talk about going from heroes to bums .... go Blue Jays!
  7. I am sorry but I am looking right past the upcoming TiCat game .... coaches say don't do it: but I am a fan not a player and I am doing it. I would be shocked if the Hammy contest will be anything but a confidence booster and momentum builder for us ... we are just way better Which brings us back to the Edmonton visit ... they are the league leader and they do seem to be in control even though their opponents have stayed close in the last couple games ... but are they running out of gas? The injury bug is not lessening and they are anything but perfect but Reilly's leadership has them on a roll or should I say a steam roller. Nichols is a leader too but I don't know if he can carry the team on his back the way Reilly did against Ottawa - - with an awesome running display when it was needed to close out the game. Apparently our D is growing tighter as we witness Johnson's release but how can the Eskie game not be a shootout? Reilly is like a greased pig regularly buying extra time to throw down field or just squirt upfield on his own. So how do we contain him? If we are going to blitz we better go at him under control or we will be grabbing a lot of nothing burgers. Our DE's need to be very disciplined and keep the pig inside the pocket. And we might need a shadowing rover just beyond the pocket if we can scheme it. I don't know if Hurl is fast enough to do that or if he has the instincts to smell out what is developing late in the play. Other than that I think we match up. So that means it will be a test of our heart, courage, discipline and character .... right?
  8. Nichols reminds me of when Tom Burgess came to the Bombers .... turned the franchise around as a sound QB ..... Not a hall of famer but sound and and a leader
  9. driving a quarter of a million dollar machine? .... no bumpkin will be doing that
  10. I find the Mike Kelly discussion so boring and nauseating .... hope we can move on
  11. I do not get it ..... why does it matter who went fishing in our pond?
  12. If Johnson does not dress will we find out if Roc has turned the corner? Will we finally see a double running back set if Thorpe can't go?
  13. Johnson is back practicing but not with the first team Thorpe is not practising today ..... small nick Source 1290 Tuesday morning
  14. If we are just using Hurl to fill gaps why not move Trent Corney to MLB? He could not be any slower than Hurl in pass protection, could he? Why is a team with one of the greatest MLB's of all time utterly unable to solve that position after MOS's 3 year reign here?
  15. how are you sure ... never heard of that rule
  16. Sorry you are right .... I was quoting TSN I think in the 4th quarter when they were 9 to 3 .... there must have been according to you 3 more subsequent penalties in our favor .... maybe they evened them up late in the game much as we saw in a badly called hockey game BTW where did you find your box score?
  17. I don't know the exact stats but we must be leading the league in points against, somerthing well over 30 points per game but somehow we are 4 & 2 .... time for the D to tighten up ... for now: HOORAY!!!!! WE ARE FINDING WAYS TO WIN .... THANKYOU
  18. I didn't see any Bomber get really wacked tonight in Ottawa .... any body notice any of the Blue getting nicked up tonight? I am really looking forward to Johnson getting back into the secondary next week.
  19. I am already onto next Saturday's game (while I quietly celebrate tonight's victory). Its time to finally dominate and win big; Hammy is going to be playing desperate and will be giving its all trying to get its pride back. With its back against the wall they could be vicious. Still if we are going to be a force this year its time to finally strut our stuff. No more close encounters. Its time to build some steam in our engine. We need to focus and concentrate ... we can not afford to take the Cats lightly
  20. HH to JFG for coming into his own tonight .... a sure handed reliable receiver that the team could depend on tonight ib clutch situations .... cheers
  21. I am a long term mystic believing CFL REFS are somehow biased (CFL directed) against our Blue .... most of the time I decide I have been hallucinating and the perceived bias is just my homer mentality but there are times when it seems it was actually unfair. Tonight with the penalties 9-3 favoring Ottawa I really wondered .... especially after the hands to the face called on Goosen .... so much goes on in the trenches that I wondered how it was called seemingly unevenly ... But as my old hockey coach used to preach to us, you have to play better than the referees' adversity ... and tonight the Bombers did just that .... YIPEE!!!
  22. I wonder if we had put Dressler on the six earlier whether we would have had the cap room to go after McDuffie .... MOS sang his high praises on 1290 today
