  1. I see MOS as a hands-off HC, not over ruling his coordinators much, if it all. I am just wondering whether its time he take a more directing approach with Ritchie Hall. For example, DBs playing a soft 6 yards off the receivers .... can he put forward a change in strategy to Hall?
  2. you had have 2 out of 3 in the lineup all the time and staying very fresh .... just slightly more rotation than now ..... and a MLB actually stopping the run
  3. When Wild gets back I would like to see he and Leggett flanking Knox at MLB ... play 2 Canadians on the DL ... we are rotating anyway .... Corney & Thomas are less of a loss than Hurl being a slow moving pylon
  4. Really amazing, this miracle game ... most encouraging to me
  5. I am giving the happy honker award to Lapo where his dink and dunk to Harris and Lankford kept the never ending Montreal blitz mostly on its heels .... yes they got to Nichols at times but the release passes kept Montreal in check and gave us time to throw down field from time to time.
  6. This season is not going anything like my expectations for our precious Blue. 15 first downs in the 4th quarter... wow! 4 complete quarters this time. We might have just learned how to be a winner .... we certainly have a chance to build momentum in the next few games: we play Ottawa, Hamilton, Edmonton, Montreal, Regina and Regina between now and September 9. Have we created a Frankenstein?
  7. I am hoping that pressure builds for the coordinators to perform, to move beyond their comfort zone just a little bit and push the envelope - - almost every poster on this site wants our Blue to be a more aggressive ... this thread isn't about firing anyone right now: we are no where near the panic button ... we just need to stretch, optimize what we are capable of This thread is also a sarcastic reply to all those relentless critics of our play calling and schemes: SO MUCH BELLY-ACHING WITHOUT THOUGHT AS TO THE REAL CAUSES OF WHAT IS AILING US
  8. This one be one of the oddest comments you've had in a while That is what i get for posting in the middle of the night when too tired for words ... oops
  9. I am seeing today's game as a chance to put it all together, to start to build some momentum Durant is a better QB than Nichols but they can both get the job done I am expecting a lot of blitzing from Montreal but I think Lapo will have us ready to pick such apart We might win the battle of the trenches today .... it's a matter of pride and time to step up .... and Ritchie Hall needs pressure on the QB to keep the cracks from showing up in the secondary ... it seems inevitable we are going to get beat deep a couple of times but we have to limit it to just that How average are our Canadians that we have starting today? Loffler, Walker & Hurl Chung, Goosen, JFG, Harris & Normand I am not sure how much of an edge that is but I think it's a little bit. Our backups might be a bigger edge. How the injury bug goes may determine more than we realize. I expect we will win because we want it more and our confidence is going to come to the forefront, finally.
  10. We have a core of season ticket holders that will always be there .... but look at the variability of attendance this year ... how the Bombers perform and how respected the fans feel by management makes a big $$$ difference .... the Berry firing hurt attendance, for years, for multiple reasons I am not saying we should fire anybody but I am saying how do we know when we should
  11. to fire someone you have to answer to: 1. the overseeing board and or president 2. the senior operating manager 3. the media 4. the ticket buying public or else you need the balls of a self indulgent narcisist
  12. I am not advocating firing any body ... its just the chief gripe on these threads is coaching: play calling, schemes, personnel selection ... and that's not going to change with these coordinators ... so I just wanted to know how our posters would actually fix things ... or else decide what criteria we would use if & when there is an actual need to panic So if we are going to be shaking our fist in the air about coaching performance, lets be action oriented with our solutions ... so we don't get an ulcer or ...
  13. Maybe the rules will evolve a little ... such as you cannot hit a player above the armpits ie shoulder or higher ... something that will eliminate the glancing helmet to helmet hits .... we can't eliminate nut we can start to get rid of the most dangerous accidents ... this probably has to start in the NFL not here
  14. We have all been expressing doubt about the passivity/conservatism of our two coordinators .... So if this is the major-most problem, what circumstances or justification is needed to attempt to make an improvement there? If we make a change during the season would we promote from within or get an outsider? Who would you want if it was during this season?
  15. So you think the primary cause is coaching .... and i guess there is no way to fix that?
  16. The consensus from the coaching thread is that : 1. We don't call the right plays or use the right schemes; we have low football IQ 2. Nichols can't find a receiver 15 yards downfield; he is not very good 3. Our coordinators are not very good and never will be 4. We lack talent and defensive injuries expose this .... our recruiting program has failed especially at receiver, DB & LB. While there is an element of truth to all of these, I believe the thinking is more hysterical than cause centered Whoever mentioned Swaggerville may be getting to the core: confidence, playing in the zone, winner's mentality stuff. Winners find ways to win, losers find ways to lose ... it is all about self belief. Decisions about Hurl and Carmichael are starting to look embarrassing to me in terms of management judgment, injuries are taking their usual toll, and we have not gelled ... not unusual problems. The big deal, the underlying cause, is that we have not yet learned how to win as a team .... in that we are still feeling our way along. Perhaps we need a hot streak against a series of the weak sisters in this league ... that might change everything.
  17. I didn't see that but if that is true monitors please merge this thread into "coaching conditioning"
  18. in the good old days we had charles roberts .... Harris is good but not good enough to carry the whole Bomber team on his back (carrying the other team on his back is the best he can do)
  19. And my point is we have the random expression of frustrations (its the coaches ... its the schemes .. its the...) and nobody is zooming in on what is really going on I would enjoy some real insight and analysis instead of just belches and bellowing at the first thing that comes to mind ... even if it is in several other threads: its just farts; I am hoping for more than that in this thread Our slow starts are not because of a lack of film work or a lack of creativity .... I am wondering about mindset though
  20. What other thread specifically ... and in what focused way?
  21. I can see having a mini rock concert for an hour before the game ..... nothing big name ... just a local band playing popular enough stuff ..... mutually beneficial for all except for the old fuddy duddys like me
  22. I see a lot of flaying away about why we have lost 2 close games and nearly a third as we are now 2 & 2 .... A lot of opinions are flying around but it all seems to be a random collection of frustrations; it doesn't seem to explain why our precious Blue seem so inconsistent within the same game. Jekyl & Hyde seem less bipolar. The two and outs are more than just poor scheming. Bombers blowing 4th quarter leads is not a coaching problem. Something sublime seems to be happening but its hard to nail down. What is the root cause(s) of this seemingly strange hero and bum behavior, really?
  23. no ... just 1 for 2nd & long
  24. why do we not have a 6th intl db as a DI or even on reserve?
